Earlier this year, the Dometic Penguin II AC/HP unit went caput on my 2022 Motor Home. Tod took a quick look at it and, absent an extensive pull and inspect job, gave his opinion that the unit was defunct based on his experience of seeing the same condition in countless Dometics over the years. The charge for his time, effort, and insight? Zero. Zip. Nada. The Dometic unit was under warranty. Dometic would not give me the time of day to entertain a replacement under warranty. Thankfully, a US businessman became the authorized distributor for the new German Dreiha Atmos 4.4 AC/HP. This unit not only costs less than the Dometic but also outperforms it. It's quieter and features a heat pump that operates down to 23° F, making it a superior choice. Initially, I had planned for Tod to install the new unit. However, the distributor in Elkhart, Indiana, invented modifications to the ducted vent system in my coach, complicating the installation process. I took the coach to Elkhart for the installation. Tod could and would have done the work superbly. Remember, if you call Tod, he is in constant demand around the Low Country area. He tries to help RVers who are stranded to get back on the road. If you call, be patient. You will get a response later when he's not busy fixing someone else's RV. By the way, don't expect, and it's unrealistic to expect a no-fee diagnostic from Tod, as I have cited here. The man works hard and brings 27 years of experience and professionalism to his profession. I cite my experience as an example of how fair and reasonable Tod is, how he treats his customers and, how loyal and appreciative he is with return customers.

A small thing is to make sure that they quote the correct pricing and errors are not showing on the dash before you leave. There were some nuts that he had forgotten to put on but could not take the bumper off due to having to get more plastic rivets, and did let me know that I would have to bring my car back. I'm glad he was honest about that. My car was very safe to drive over the weekend. I am glad that he was honest and let me know. Again I would highly recommend them. I am very happy.

We were in Savannah for a week and Primo did three projects on our fifth wheel. After our initial…read morephone message, they were responsive, on time, and communicated well. Our refrigerator was not working on the propane side. They diagnosed a problem with the propane supply hose and returned the next day to replace it. They also installed gutter extensions so that our air conditioner run off doesn't drip on the side of the coach. There ended up being an issue with the third project, but they handled it very professionally. The leading-edge of our roof membrane was not originally installed properly and the wind was starting to get underneath it and was pulling it back from the front cap of the fifth wheel-- potentially a huge problem. Fortunately, Primo noticed this when installing the gutter extensions. I brought the rig into their shop to have it fixed and they basically reattached the roof membrane as it was. When we arrived in Charleston after leaving Savannah, I rechecked the roof and found it again separating from the front cap, as it was before the repair was done. Bummer. Primo offered to drive up and redo the repair--a five hour round trip! Not wanting them to have to do this, I decided to fix it myself with some advice from Primo on how to do it differently. They walked me through the process, and then refunded the entire cost of the original repair. I would file this experience under "stuff happens." It would have been nice if the original fix had held, but I don't think their guys fully understood the nature of the problem and what was needed to prevent it; my drive to Charleston made the problem clear. It wasn't fun doing the repair in the summer heat, but I now feel more comfortable that it will hold in the long term and am happy that I essentially got paid for doing the work because of Primo's willingness to stand behind their work. I would not hesitate to do business with them again.

I was going to have it checked by an independent but couldn't find anyone who would do it so I took the dealers word and their 150 point inspection. Got there for my 1000 mile drive back and the statement that it was stored inside except for the last couple of months was untrue, the generator did not work, solar did not work, auto levelers did not work so I will assume the only thing that was inspected was my check. I should have walked away but it is a nice unit so I accepted they would take care of the issues. After five hours everything seemed to work except the auto levelers but I was assured they would take care of it and had called to have it fixed. Turns out they didn't get the necessary information so I needed to find it. I was told someone would call me and walk me through where to find the information but they didn't call and followed up with dealer who basically had no interest in making things right. Bottom line is get an inspection, believe nothing you are told and expect to have any work done yourself. If you don't feel right about your purchase, walk away.

We…read morereached out to James for a second opinion after being told by another mechanic that we needed an entire new RV refrigerator...~$5K all-in. In a short amount to time James determined that our fridge cooling unit was not bad as diagnosed by the first mechanic. He felt certain that several factors were contributing to our fridge not getting as cold as it should. One, it was very hot in UT the week we were there simply causing our fridge to work harder than normal. Two, our thermomister was not in the optimal position within our refrigerator. Took him about 15 seconds to correct. Finally, he suggested we add a second 12V cooling fan to help dissipate the warm air. He was quite certain that our fridge/freezer would work fine as we continued our trip North into cooler temps. None of these points were made by the first mechanic who literally spent three minutes determining that we needed a completely new fridge. Turns out James was completely right. Our fridge is working perfect even without the second fan. James was professional, competent and very friendly. And he is a veteran for those of us who like supporting veteran-owned businesses. I would recommend him to any fellow RVer transiting through or home-based in UT and in-need to help. And of course to any RVer home-based in UT.

I called early on a Friday and Kyle said he would be out for the repair around 6-7pm. The weather report called for tornados over the weekend; 18 people died in AL. But Kyle called late in the evening on Friday and asked for a picture of the vent. Earlier he said he was familiar with the make ànd model of my RV. Isn't this weird? Shouldn't he have asked for a picture earlier, when I had reaction time to call someone else? I can smell BS from a mile away. Kyle called back and said he did not have my cover in stock, he would have to wait until Monday to do the repair. Camping World is open on Saturday, and they are going to do the repair for half the cost. We got hit hard by the storm, and of course I didn't need Kyle by Monday. Kyle wanted $125 for coming to me, and $25 for the cover. $150 for 15 minutes of work. I'm not sure how these guys are going to survive the recession. $150 is darn good money! Using their services now would be like paying premium dollars for an air conditioner in the winter.
