The BROKE into my home while I was in FLORIDA visiting my mother and completely ransacked my home. They threw things everywhere in search of someone who does not live here who violated their bond. In addition, they have stolen items from my home (my two blue front amazon parrots among other things) as well as went through everything that is personal and private of mine. How they thought that they could find a suspect in a box or in a dresser drawer is beyond my understanding. So far they have returned the birds to my vet and they are back at home and so far are doing well. As long as they maintain their health for the next 7-10 days all should be ok with the ordeal that these bail bondsman put them through. I am insulted by the way that this has all been handled by the Columbus Police as well as the bonding agency. They have no right to enter the residence of a third party let alone steal property that they are not in any way entitled. THEY CANNOT GET AWAY WITH THIS! Common law regarding apprehension in regards to a third party as quoted from: http://caselaw.findlaw.com/nc-supreme-court/1460127.html: While we acknowledge that the contract between the surety and the principal authorizes the surety to exercise certain powers as to the principal, we do not find that this contractual authority can be extended to cases where a surety is seeking the principal in the home of a third party where the principal does not reside. In those cases the surety must first have the consent of the homeowner to enter the premises and conduct a search. See State v. Tapia, 468 N.W.2d 342 (Minn.Ct.App.1991). read more
