You should look up how it works, I mean I'm not asking you to read Adam Smith, but like, research econ 101. Thankfully, as part of that system, you can chose to avoid businesses you don't like. So if you hate people being funny, laughing, bs-ing, telling stories, discussing wrestling, or just generally avoiding being soulless automatons- then don't come here. Go find some place at the mall with TV screens in the wall and some kid you think went to high school with your brother, but you're not too sure, sweeping the floors. It's okay- there are a million salons out there with waiting areas you can read a 7 month old issue of Time magazine in. Go there! Google it! Or use Bing because you've made it this far in a Yelp review, so you're probably a dork. You don't like that they don't use foil razors, or do hard parts, or engage in other tonsorial arts that make people aware through your haircut that you are mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence? There's a reason haircuts that your grandpa had (and your grandpa could have rocked a sweet pompadour, they're not just for Morrissey---, or a nice undercut, or even a simple "short on the sides, trim on top" sorta thing) are just as relevant today as ever- they look good and can be worn in every situation. There are plenty of dudes out there who will be more than happy to carve a flying baseball with the Mets logo in your head, and more than enough dudes out there chopping people's scalps up with tools that are not quality. Just not here. Here- they actually know what they are doing. So when the barber explains to you why getting a 1 to skin fade on one side and a 7 to 3 on the other, and why the top of your head being cut only with thinning shears at your specified angle of choice is a bad idea- you should listen. Generally- people who have done a thing and are quite good at it (like, barbering for example) are better at understanding how stuff works than you are. You should listen to them. Unless you want a sick blow-out and chin-strap beard. Then don't go here. This isn't a salon, this isn't a unisex-beauty-all-in-one-that-also-sells-phonecards. This isn't some place with an in-house barista/DJ that only plays Brian Eno atmospheric albums (but not the ones you like) and charges you $80 for the luxury of bestowing your eyes upon a pair of scissors hand forged by a master of Damascus steel but charges you $45 for the plebeian experience of having some dude with three months experience cutting the back of your head up with a buzzer. This is a barbershop. One that has a fun, welcoming atmosphere. One that consistently gives great haircuts, and I've had my hair cut by all the employees there and they always do a good job every time. This is a place that smells like Layrite and bay-rum, uses hot towels, and has one of those hot foam machines. This is a great haircut, for a great price, in a great little shop.

I called to schedule and they directed me to their website. At first I wasn't a fan. But it was pretty easy to see all the available times and to pick the most convenient one for me which was actually within 20 minutes of me looking. You got to do stuff when. The kid goes down for a nap and my wife green lit the hair cut. I got there 10 minutes early and they were able to take me a few minutes early which I appreciated. The guy who cut my hair was good. He was young looking but he did a great job. He did a lot of attention to detail with my beard and whipped out a straight razor to clean up my brow a bit. I thought the prices were affordable and the shop was clean. Added bonus for Rutgers students they have a discount which is always nice. In about 30 minutes I was transformed from possibly homeless to stylin. And located on George Street in New Brunswick is pretty central. Worth checking out if you need a hair cut.

I like the I could use a credit card to pay, and to leave a tip. My only suggestion would be for the barbers to use warm foam. The place looked like a barber shop in the middle of a nice game room. The barber (sorry couldn't recall his name) asked the requirements and quickly jumped to work. He did a pretty clean job but I had a complete turn off when he assumed that I wouldn't need long sideburns and decided to chop it off short. I immediately told him that I usually sport long sideburns and he must have checked with me before proceeding. I was equally surprised that it cost $35 for a simple haircut. Anyway the place had good aesthetics and ambience and it would definitely cost that much if you are also making use of their pool table or the PlayStation.
