Lisa is a rare human being of the first quarter of the 21st century. She reminds me of a theatrical, histrionic, colourful figure described and filled out in a novel by Tennesee Williams. Visiting the gallery, she can transform herself into exquisite 5 star performance art of her persona when her moods wax poetic. This F&P movement has slowly been growing since at least the 1980's. This fun fetish has to do with people who relate to their favorite real or cartoon animals so much that they are willing to cavort in animal "costumes" for all sorts of personal reasons.  Rick was prescient in documenting the still nascent F&P movement in the 1990's. His black & white photos capture the passion of people who design elaborate, time consumIng, highly skilled works of plushy, furry animal art. If you're curious about Plushies & Furries, there was a very revelatory movie to satisfy any dilettante. I wasn't thrilled with the art on display -"The Art of the Mascara Snake" (maybe too grungy for me?) but that's not an issue. It was harder to get inside and check it out, it seemed more like somebody's private party that you shouldn't crash. I'd like to go back and check it out after they'll change exhibits hoping to have a better viewing experience and update my review!

Accidentally left my reusable water bottle in the shop on Sunday and tried to call a half hour…read moreafter leaving to ask them to hold onto it for me to pick up later since I had other plans where I couldn't go back immediately. The call went to voicemail and they never called back. I went back at 4:50 PM (their posted closing time is 5 PM) and they were closed already. I tried to call again and no one answered. They didn't open again until Tuesday. I came by to ask about it and they said it had been thrown away by one of their employees because it had spilled and no one came back to claim it. Who throws away a reusable water bottle? Obviously it's someone's property and any reasonable person would think to hold it for at least a business day or two. I had called the store several times to ask about it and all of them went unanswered. I even tried to call back right after receiving their text that it had been thrown out and that didn't even go through. I had said it was frustrating that my property had been thoughtlessly thrown away and the store owner retorted that it was frustrating that someone else knocked it over onto their cards, as if it was my fault. Not to mention that their binder cards are grossly overpriced. Don't shop here

You can find a trinket for $2 or a gorgeous vintage 5 foot round illuminated clock, for $550. There were a lot of homemade musical instruments, which I thought were interesting. He says antique dealers come in and buy his stuff to sell for more elsewhere. I believe it. His prices are reasonable and negotiable, but he wasn't born yesterday. I found out what he pays for rent, and its a wonder he doesn't charge more. I bought a few things (including a fab $5 plastic bread box from the 50s or 60s) and was due a dollar change. He didn't have it. I told him to keep the dollar, but he insisted I scour the store for something else to get my money's worth. Once he saw my hesitance, he started to look around on my behalf as I walked toward the door. He offered a dusty card, an old frame, but my favorite was an iron meat grinder, that weighed around 20 pounds. It had the date melded onto its form: 1926. As charming as it was, I took an old CBS sign instead.

Every piece is bold, energetic, full of life and motion- everything from abstract representations of nature, to glittering eye candy, to light shining through intricate paper cut outs, to fine art paintings that connect you to something beyond. The gallery's namesake Virga, who is the owner and a featured artist, is a delight as well. She's a proud, fiery person and her work is pure genius. I loved my time spent in Virga Gallery, and tried to really slow down and understand each piece- which I really recommend doing. I will definitely be back, and hopefully will purchase one of these beautiful pieces in the future.

You must not have had very many experiences with potential customers. Most art galleries I have been too, either clearly state that no pictures can be taken of the art or they do not have a sign and they don't mind. Yours, however is very particular. You do not have a clearly posted sign but you do have an opinion! I guess it's the worst of both worlds.
