I recently moved here from Texas. I have Airway Stenosis and have had it since 2007. I am very familiar with my condition and the state of my breathing, I have to be, The Northwestern website says I should be seen by a thoracic surgeon and, indeed, that is standard practice. Dr. Arndt, the thoracic surgeon at Palos -- who was trained by experts in this field -- ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO TREAT ME. In fact, he wouldn't even meet with me. Looking at papers, he decided my case was "too complicated" for him and I would have to go downtown. However, he couldn't even offer me a name of someone to see "downtown." I am absolutely shocked that he put paperwork ahead of my own knowledge of my own body and my own disease. At least his nurse navigator had the sense to sound mortified by the nonsense he was making her spew. Good for you, Helen! read more
