Dr. G is very unprofessional as he won't take appointments and only do walk ins and treats his patients as numbers and not customers. I doubt he even listens because I told him that I had a panic-induced nightmare and woke up outside not knowing how I got there in the first place, another time I got into trouble with fire department because I thought my place was on fire. He said," That's fine, just keep taking your medicine." No increase or concern at all... so then I ended up getting off my medication, yes he striped me off all of my psychotic medication and of course I ended up in the psychiatric ward. I am begging you all who are reading this, avoid seeing this guy and his staff and go to Calvert Behavioral at Calvert Health Department. They are professional, licensed, trained and treat their patents with care and respect. Dr. G should seriously have his license taken away from him. He even try and force people to take drugs that can cause addiction.

Try to ask who your therapist will be and meet them ahead of time: ours was a poor match, and we did not think to ask. (The Helix IOP in Mclean did have the therapist at the intake meeting, which seems like a good practice.) I was just reading "The Audacity to be You," an excellent book by Brad Reedy, which includes a chapter on finding a therapist, and ours was the opposite of what was described in that book. The facility also doesn't mention that the teen sees the psychiatrist on a video screen for very short sessions. Ask about that: it certainly wasn't told to us. Melissa M. seems very strong but is mostly just involved in intake. Communication once in the program also was poor.

She refunded only $300, keeping $700 for doing absolutely nothing. She claimed to help with mediation and child support adjustments, but we later learned she never submitted anything to the court. There's no record of her work--just money gone. Her billing is also unethical. She charged me $175 for a one-minute voicemail and "proved" it by sharing her voicemail screen as "proof." Yet my bill listed it as a one-hour call that never happened. She came off nice at first, but when it came to refunds and billing, she was completely unethical.
