Well I quit going to see Dr. Gergely because the therapist I had (Karen) quit on me and because of this I can no longer see Dr. Gergely. Dr. G is very unprofessional as he won't take appointments and only do walk ins and treats his patients as numbers and not customers. I doubt he even listens because I told him that I had a panic-induced nightmare and woke up outside not knowing how I got there in the first place, another time I got into trouble with fire department because I thought my place was on fire. He said," That's fine, just keep taking your medicine." No increase or concern at all... so then I ended up getting off my medication, yes he striped me off all of my psychotic medication and of course I ended up in the psychiatric ward. I am begging you all who are reading this, avoid seeing this guy and his staff and go to Calvert Behavioral at Calvert Health Department. They are professional, licensed, trained and treat their patents with care and respect. Dr. G should seriously have his license taken away from him. He even try and force people to take drugs that can cause addiction. read more

Will never know if he's a good doctor because his administration is so screwed up. Made an initial appointment 2 months in advance for my minor son. Showed up today for said appointment only to be told I had canceled it on the 15th. No I didn't. They said I would have received a call and a text that day and responded cancel to it. One problem with that. I recieved 0 texts on that day and only two calls- both from a friend in my contacts list (I have logs for both). On top of that, why would I show up for an appointment that I had canceled five days previous? So incredibly frustrating! No love from this prospective client! read more

I had a very bad experience with this group -my opinion is that it's a business, and not health-minded. review your health care choices very carefully - I feel that this place is quite disorganized and poorly run. Poor scheduling, billing errors (always in their favor) and a seemingly endless lack of concern for patients. AVOID. read more

It took three weeks for his receptionist to call back about an urgent matter regarding my medication. When someone called back they were extremely rude, interrupted me numerous times, and told me the doctor was extremely busy and I would have to make an appointment two weeks away to talk to him. Not to mention a few times I had called it said the number was out of service or closed during operating hours. This is unacceptable for a mental health facility when someone is reaching out for help. When I called to say I switched providers the receptionist again was very rude and snippy. I really wanted to like this practice, but I agree with another reviewer here about the poor attitude and service of the full-time front desk staff at the Edgewater location both on the phone and in person (The back-up staff are just fine IMO). You work at a mental health clinic. BE NICE. BE WELCOMING. BE UNDERSTANDING. Also, they still use manila folder patient files (which screams 'old fashioned' to me). I've only seen 1 provider here for approx. 5 months but I'm not getting what I need from her. She talks about herself quite a bit (which I'm fairly sure is a big no-no in the therapy world) and gives me advice like " You should say this to so-and so" instead of delving into the big issues. I've never had a provider do this, so it's strange and off-putting. I need someone that's more straightforward and confronting and will be looking elsewhere. My advice is to look at a different provider's office. read more

Do not see this doctor. He and his office are greedy, inattentive, medically questionable and largely unavailable. Doctor wrote a prescription for 30 days then scheduled next appointment for 35 days and charged us to get a new Rx outside of an appointment. My wife got stranded by a delayed flight and called to say she'll miss her appt, and even though it was within 24 and we knew there would be a charge, he charged us twice the co-pay. My wife and I have never missed an appt in years, but no grace given. The doctor doesn't seem to remember patients even after treating someone for a long period of time. He does not provide a way to reach him after hours (call 911, they tell you). The doctor seems incapable of explaining things to you. You get a recording more often than a live human when you call. Find another doctor. He may be one of the only psychiatrists in the area but trust me and drive a few extra miles to find an honest and competent practice. read more

Absolutely the most uncaring staff of any medical practice ive ever been in but my doctor was great. Beware of their "double booked" appointment scam it costs just as much as an actual appointment if you end up missing it. You also will want to reserve an hour or two of your life for calling and recalling just to get someone to answer the phone to schedule an appointment. They never pass any messages to your doctor no matter how many times you call and will send any missed bill to collections no matter how many times you pay them in FULL for YEARS its almost criminal to allow such "policies" to rule the treatment of ones MENTAL WELLBEING!!! read more

I went to Dr. Gergely because my dr. thought i might have ADD. Dr. G gave me a list of books to read. Sorry, but that's not therapy, and i really don't want to read and do exercises - how can I explain it ? It just won't get done. Useless. read more

Please be very careful with this doctor's billing department! We have been patients for years, and always have paid our bills. For some reason we were not informed of an unpaid insurance charge, and received no notices in the mail. Each time we went in for our appointments, NOBODY pointed out that we had a balance. They just collected the copay and we left. The next thing I know, we have been sent to a collection agency! I don't know if our credit has been hurt or not. I'm very angry with them, and Dr. Gergely who does nothing about the situation. read more

I've been going to Dr. Gergely since 2010. He helped me get through a very stressful time and has more than met my expectations. His office staff is generally helpful as well, of course some are better than others. Sometimes you do have to wait a bit in the office--that's the only reason I gave 4 rather than 5 stars. read more

Dr. Gergely is quiet and patient, listening and asking probing questions. He is not at all judgmental; rather he seeks to help you find your solution. His office is managed quite professionally, with everyone very polite and friendly. I've been seeing Dr. Gergely for a couple of years now, about once a quarter, and have, with his help, learned to manage my issues and (most importantly) my reaction to others very well. My emotions are far more stable now, and I feel so much better about myself and my relationships. If you're in need of some help, I highly recommend this office and Dr. Gergely read more
