I have had three surgeries performed by Dr. Mather and his staff since 2013, all with great results. Definitely recommend.

I had two sinus osseous-autografts done by Gateway Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on June 28, 2017,…read morefollowed by three implants done on Oct 24, 2017. Gateway Oral installed a 6 mm. implant on tooth 16 and installed two 8 mm. implants on teeth 24 & 26. Since then I have had two of those implants come loose and had to be removed. Gateway Oral installed one implant after the two coming loose, and it as well came loose. On Dec. 10, 2018 Dr. Mather installed another implant on tooth 16. On June 20, 2020 tooth #24 was looked at by Dr. Mather and it was loose. So far I have had three implants come loose out of the four Gateway Oral have done. Dr. Mather had told me how much the fifth implant was going to be when he pulled out the fourth implant. One week later his office sent me a notice via email of how much it would be to install a fifth implant. I did not need to be told twice in a week how much they wanted to get from me if I was to get another implant from their company. I think this was very uncaring. . I paid a professional periodontist on Aug. 26/2020 to take a scan of all my teeth to try find out what could have caused the implants to fail as no one wants to take responsibility for the failure of the implants. The periodontist wondered why Gateway Oral had not used longer implants as there was enough space for longer implants as I had, had the sinus osseous-autografts done. My dentist, had recommended Dr. Mather for the implants. I would have thought that the two doctors would have worked together to make sure my implants were successful. I talked to Dr. Mather after the three implants coming loose. He stated that he only installs 6 mm. and 8 mm.implants. I told him I have had eight implants installed, and his three were the only ones to come loose. I know my dentist used the articulating paper on all my teeth after installing the new crowns on all four implant s. Dr. Mather stated that it was my dentist's fault, stating something about the crowns not being down far enough. Since than I have had my dentist install a 10 mm. implant on tooth 16 and a 12 mm. implant on tooth 24. I have not had any problems with either implant since being installed. When they were installing the last implant again on tooth #24, the x-ray they took showed there had been a drill bit from a root canal that had broken off from doing a root canal. It had been in there for at least 10-15 years. I am surprised that Dr.Mather had not seen this on his x-ray or figured it did not matter enough to remove it before installing the implant. I think the quality of work that Dr. Mather does is rushed as he did all three implants in about two hours. My dentist installed a 10 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed a 6 mm., and a 12 mm. implant where Dr. Mather installed an 8 mm. My question is why did he need to do two sinus osseous-autografts if he was not going to use longer implants. I have had to deal with the pain of having my implants coming loose, being removed and getting new implants installed over the course of the last four years. I have had to go to dentist offices more than my fair share during covid. A person should not have to deal with this kind of pain, suffering, and mental anguish for over four years. After my meeting with Doctor Mather I found him very arrogant and he seemed to believe that he can do no wrong. I would not recommend Gateway Oral for any implants.

He didn't provide me written estimates through the treatment plans or Quotes under ABC guidelines that should be generated over $800. This way, he provides confusing estimates and treatments without obtaining patient consent. For example, he quoted me $400 per extraction and then $$1849 for 3. When I questioned the math, he delayed treatment until I sought out another dentist, who actually provided better treatment than Kucey dental group. Once, he provided a consult that indicated he was going to provide three extractions and implants he never did complete this but sent me on a winding treatment process with his wife to provide general dentistry fixes that I could have obtained elsewhere for cheaper. His wife had notified me the day prior to her fixes to ask if I wanted a hygienist appointment. I refused and stated that I had one two months prior. She then completed the fixes, left the room and had the hygienist come in to do it anyway. As they didn't obtain adequate patient consent, forced me to do it anyway, and charged an exorbitant rate - when they had actually told me I was actually there for the three extractions on my right side, I reflected that I couldn't proceed with the treatment I felt was more needed. Dr Brian ended up intervening and stating that he would complete one of them and he actually extracted one tooth on my left side that he hadn't even explained needed extraction. When I asked him to submit a treatment plan quote through the ethical / standard Alberta Blue Cross billing process, he then denied treatment for over three months. I then found another dentist whose skills are far superior than Dr Kucey. I note on Dr Kucey's reviews that he often provides only verbal quotes and then charges exorbitant fees that are well over triple what he originally quoted. He originally quoted my extractions at $400 per tooth. When I questioned the $2200 math, he refused. He performed excessive dental work that wasn't necessary and I switched dentists to obtain the extractions, implants and crowns I needed. He stated that the implants would be around $4000 and crowns would be $2000. I obtained my 3 extractions for under $600, 3 implants for $6000, and crowns for under 4500 from elsewhere when it would have cost me over $30000 from Kucey dental group. For quality extractions, implants and crowns - I recommend that all patients don't see Kucey Dental Group whatsoever. I recommend Dr Mike Mah at Passion Dental Group Calgary, Parkland Mall Dental Red Deer, Blackfalds Dental, Aspen Dental Rocky Mountain House. Dr Mike Mah's skill far surpasses that of Brian Kucey. Dr Mike Mah even completed my sinus lifts with a significant level of skill. He explains the process well and even diagnosed the reason for my reoccurring infections that caused my need for the implants in the first place. This way, my mouth is far better off. As Dr Kucey broke the HIA legislation by refusing to transfer the X-rays and personal health information that I am entitled to transmit to another dentist ( and that all other dentists transfer immediately- with a patient signed document), Dr Mah even completed two CT Scans free of charge. Dr Mah had the ethical integrity to decide that I was financially abused my Dr Kucey's lack of CDSA standards and failure to meet the legislation guidelines of the health information act in Alberta. Kucey Dentwl Group FAIL at providing dentistry in accordance with CDSA Patient Care Standards and also avoid compliance with health law. See below the CDSA standards that Kucey doesn't provide whatsoever. https://www.cdsab.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/CDSA-Code-of-Ethics-2023.pdf https://www.cdsab.ca/patients-general-public-protection/public-protection/legislation/

Additionally, they appear passionate in educating their team and patients about skin care regime, treatment approaches, medical skin concerns, and medication. They would only suggest or approve of treatments involving medication, laser, fillers, and such only if it is necessary for that patient. I was never pressured or "sold" on something. I also appreciate their updates on Facebook in regards to team spirit, products, and treatment results. I am grateful of having to be introduced to Dr. Taher and Kailey (Medical laser technician) by his colleage since when he was practicing as a provisional dermatologist several years back. Dr. Taher has such great bed side manner and patience with injection, electrodissectation, and biopsy. I am also suprised that he did no choose a career in pediatrics with his gentle mannerisms, enthusiasm, and great interpersonal skills. Treatments I have received and were found effective for myself were, but not limited to: Isolaz (moderate to severe acne), clear and brilliant (skin texture, hyperkeratosis, some lines), glycolic/afa peels, pulse dye laser for stretch marks on shoulders, and products. I have also seen Mckaela for peels, waxing, and isolaz. The zo Skin health line particularily the radical night repair 1% retinol and c 10% bright serum has I believe saved my skin from cystic acne and significantly prevented/reduced scarring in addition to isolaz. I believe proper skin care is an investment in which my skin has thanked me later. My additional favorite products are but not limited to: Zo daily defense lotion, zo renewal creme, eye hydra firm, zo 10% sulfur mask, vivier medicated cleanser, revision antiaging matte moisturizer, anacapse pill for hair loss, and UNIVERSE SKIN CARE. As I see it as challenging to find an antiaging night serum that is light in texture not causing breaking or further mila, UNIVERSE SKIN CARE is such an investment. I like that the serum is tailored to my skin needs that is combination of retinol, aloe vera, and zinc sulphate. I am also currently trying out the 14% glycolic with b (3 or 5) to prevent peeling as a take home weekly peel. As I see on reviews, images, and posts on fb, Dr Taher and his nurses seem quite skilled with lasers and injections; like their motto "Look good. Not done.". In the future when I am ready to invest in other treatment approaches, I will be visiting Dr. Taher and his nurses. Thank you.
