I wasn't able to get an epidural in time, but she still advocated for me and supported my request to try, which meant a lot. She also guided me through different positions to help me push more effectively, which made a big difference. I especially appreciated her communication when our daughter's heart rate was dipping during contractions. The office isn't fancy or super high tech. Dr. Humphrey is old school and when she talks to you, she speaks from the heart and really cares for your well being. She tries super hard to accommodate all of her patients. If she is a little late sometimes, it is because she is scrambling back and forth from the office to the Los Alamitos Medical Center (hospital) delivering babies or checking up on patients. She only deliveries at Los Alamitos Medical Center and trust me, you will LOVE that hospital when you plan on giving birth! (Read my Yelp review.) Dr. Humphrey has over 30 years of experience. Patient care is her top priority. During my visits, she spent the time to listen and answer my questions. Her answers were thorough, thoughtful, and based in science. If she was ever unsure, she would research it and then get back to me. I always felt secure in knowing that I was in great hands. She is absolutely the best and am lucky to have her as my OBGYN. She also has a group of incredible nurses who are efficient and kind. Every time I have messaged them (either via the Memorialcare portal or over the phone), they have responded back within minutes to at most a couple hours even to questions that are not time sensitive. When I have an appointment, rarely do I have to wait. The nurses get me in and take my vitals and information. Dr. Karm is usually close behind. Overall, she is the best at what she does and has a great team of nurses. If you are lucky to have her as your OBGYN or even get to have an appointment with her, you've hit the jackpot!

I wanted to share my experience being a patient of Dr. Karm. In my opinion, Dr. Karm performed two…read morecervical biopsies on me without appropriate pain management. The first time she performed this procedure on me, she said told me to take an aspirin before I arrived. Then prior to taking the biopsy she told me it might "Pinch" or there might be some "Pressure." I didn't know what to expect since I had never had this procedure done outside of a surgical room under anesthesia with a previous doctor. After the experiencing this procedure with Dr. Karm, I found this procedure to be incredibly painful - and was really shocked that all I was provided was advice to take an aspirin prior to arriving. The second time Dr. Karm needed to perform a cervical biopsy on me, I asked her if I could have something for pain management and she said no because, "It's too quick of a procedure to justify needing pain management." She went on to explain that the pain management she could provide would take longer than the procedure itself, so she said she would not be providing pain management for my cervical biopsy for that reason. Taking an aspirin prior to having someone perform a biopsy that felt like having your cervix hole punched repeatedly was not proper pain management as far as my needs were concerned. In my experience, Dermatologists perform skin biopsies and Dentists pull teeth quickly, but both do so with appropriate pain management. I feel the amount of time it takes to perform a procedure does not equate to the level of pain management needed.

First, the office staff and nurse were great. They were kind, never rushed me and always answered my questions. Huge plus (last office I went to the office staff was unpleasant). The office staff sets the tone and you tend to spend a lot of time with the nurses so having someone that makes you comfortable is important. I was a high risk pregnancy but was always treated with respect my entire pregnancy. Dr. Kizer is not the most talkative doctor, but if you want someone who knows what they are doing, will be open to alternative ideas, and will treat you fairly and with respect then he is the doctor for you. I feel like the entire office staff respects your time as well. In all my months going there I think I had to wait over twenty minutes only once because the Dr. had to deal with an emergency. Now for the actual delivery You . It was very convenient that I was at Los Alamitos hospital. It is right by his office so he was able to come by and check on me till I was ready to deliver. I was hoping to avoid a c-section but circumstances did not make that possible. It was medially necessary and because I chose Dr. Kizner I had the peace of mind knowing that if he said it was necessary- it really was. He did a great job stitching me up and the wonderful end to the story is that both I and my baby are healthy. I looked at Drs. in Orange, Newport and all points in between. It was nice to end up with one close to my house and I am happy with my overall experience.

When I got called back I was given a standard ultrasound but was told it was anatomy. This was my 3rd pregnancy and I knew it wasn't an anatomy scan (it lasted 10 minutes). I contacted my medi-cal insurance to see what kind of ultrasound had been performed. They said the paperwork was for an anatomy scan. The doctor's office falsely charged my insurance for a scan that didn't occur. How many other women and insurances were scammed by this doctor?

I had my first at Los Alamitos Medical Center with Dr. Cecilia Chu but she no longer is delivering and they no longer have Labor & Delivery @ Los Alamitos. Dr. Chao is amazing, when I first started going to her it did seem like she would spend more time with you at the doctor's visit and now that she has delivered my baby and I have first hand been through the whole experience with her I understand why. She is very busy and does it all! Dr. Chao always answered all of my questions at my office visits, she is very thorough in her explanations and is very knowledgeable in her field. Wait times were sometimes long, but nothing different than other doctor's offices. The staff is really nice and I would bring in a book or get a list going of questions for Chao while I waited. During my labor and birth, Chao was amazing, she was calm and motivating. My baby was facing up instead of down and she was able to manage to move him and although she had to use the "suction/vacuum" slightly because he would not come out, I was able to push him out within a few contractions! I did not tear and overall I was very grateful for her. The next day she came to check on me and to circumcise my baby boy. She did a great job answering our questions and concerns. Again she did an amazing job. I did unfortunately get migraines as a side effect of the epidural :( she suggested a blood patch but the anesthesiologist was unable to perform the procedure so I had to endure almost a week of migraines until they went away on their own. On average it takes 7 days to go away. The staff and Dr. Chao kept calling to check up and so did the anesthesiologists from St. Mary's. Overall I felt very well cared for. I will be seeing Dr. Chao again at my postpartum appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Chao.
