I called and left a final message for someone to return the call to explain why they keep coming back unsatisfactory. I have found another doctor, set up another appointment and will NEVER use Avista Women's Clinic again!! I am not going to say the name of the doc, because I actually liked her. It's just the lack of communication from the front office, or scheduling person, and process of getting accurate test results that I do not like.

He said…read morethey just had a meeting with the lab last week in order to fix the issue with the lab running both Qualitative and Quantitative tests. The Quantitative test is the one that runs over 1k in cost and there is no need for it unless the Qualitative test comes back positive. Apparently the lab was running both of them at the same time and they shouldn't be running both anymore. This is good news for any new patients. For any that did get an outrageous bill I'd just not pay it as they aren't supposed to report it to Credit Agencies. As for the upfront credit card payments, part of the reason is that insurance companies require them to submit all patient care at the very end of the pregnancy after delivery. This means they aren't able to bill the insurance company after every visit in order to get paid. All of that makes sense, but that information would be helpful for new patients to understand. Aaron was great to talk with and he said he would take the feedback and try to put this type of information into a document to give to new patients to increase transparency.

In January of 2025, I decided to start my medical gender transition. I asked for a referral and got on hormone replacement therapy. 3 months later, Intermountain health dropped all gender affirming care for everyone, including referrals to other clinics who do it. with no warning, I got a letter in the mail. they have handled everything my family needed very poorly, including diagnosing too quickly, and refusing to assist in multiple ways that I have not mentioned. I will never be going to another clinic, ER, or hospital associated with Intermountain health again.

I am not sure why it is so hard to reach this company over the phone. Despite the bad billing experience, I did really like my doctor and the nurses. I am just not sure what happened when it came to the actual billing part. At this point, I have to pay my entire bill (close to $800) as my insurance can't do anything.

I was hoping to have a VBAC after having a traumatic c-section experience last time. I would not have achieved the VBAC had it not been for the incredible midwives advocacy for me and support of my goal. Virginia and Lorell were so supportive and attentive to my questions and concerns. We had some complications immediately after delivery and Lorell's professional and calm leadership made the whole experience feel so positive still. I would recommend the midwives to everyone! The only downside I experienced was that it was occasionally hard to get ahold of the front desk by phone. However, everyone in the office was friendly and helpful including the front desk staff, the MA's, and the ultrasound techs.
