We had a great dinner last night at Andiamo in Saint Paul. There were four of us celebrating a friend's birthday, and we had a wonderful experience. Our server was incredibly patient while we spent time chatting and catching up. She went above and beyond for our table. She even hand stuffed blue cheese olives for my martini, which was such a thoughtful touch. She gave excellent recommendations and every single one was spot on. The food drinks and service were all fantastic. To top it off she surprised the birthday girl with ice cream at the end of the meal which made the night even more special. My wife and I had dinner recently at Andiamo St. Paul. The atmosphere was clean and pleasant and staff were pleasant as well. It was early dinner and was quiet. The service was very good. The food was not very good, however. I had the chicken parmesan. It was totally soggy, drowning in sauce which also, in my opinion, was not very good. The spaghetti was overcooked and mushy also drowning in sauce. My wife had lasagna which she said tasted ok but also mushy, no texture to it. We had Caesar salads which were plentiful and crisp. And the table bread was nice. We may try again and hope for a better result. read more

Had an awesome meal at Andiamo in Merriam Park! I got the Caprese sandwich, and it was super good -- really fresh with a nice kick of garlic flavor. The french fries were AMAZING, like perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. I also tried their Andiamo Ale, which was really good and went great with the food. I couldn't help myself and order an additional drink, the Jalapeno Mule. The flavor on that drink was there! not overpowering with either mango or jalapenos. The Ambiance is for a relax vibe; low ambient lights is the perfect pairing for italian restaurants. The staff was really friendly from the moment I walked in then when taking our orders. The manager was really cool; he kept checking in with us to ensure the service was great. I couldn't resist stealing a slice of my friend's cheese pizza, and wow -- it was delicious too! My husband and I came in mid-day on a Saturday and it was nearly empty! For such a huge restaurant, it was fairly alarming. We ordered the bruschetta and fried calamari to start and then shared the lemon chicken. Our server was very quick to help us and even with tidying up the other tables and patrons, was able to get our dishes out to us very quickly. The calamari was good! A bit on the rubbery side but went well with the lemon aioli. I was surprised that the bruschetta wasn't already on the toasted bread and there also wasn't any olive oil or balsamic vinegar which made it very lackluster with very little flavor. It kind of gave me a sense of eat salsa on sourdough bread. We ordered the lemon chicken with fettuccini and white sauce as our side - the chicken was very juicy with really great lemon flavor. My wife and I decided to cheat on the green mill with this place. Now let me say, If you're a fan of "bang for buck" - I recommend Andiamo. 1st off, the decor is simple but classy - I expected the food to be more expensive than it was. The server was nice, helpful and efficient. I was surprised to get unlimited bread before the meal (automatic bang for buck) that I'd Rank above olive garden (softer bread). My wife ordered the stuffed seafood mushrooms with pesto sauce. She said it was the best she's ever tasted I ordered a Margherita pizza - which at 1st bite was good but nothing too special. But then....I added some of the oil/sauce that was at the table my pizza and BOOM! Delicious. We went as a group of eight. This is my sister's go-to spot. My husband and I were visiting from out of town so it was our first time. The ambience is very tasteful and nice. Perfect for any occasion. The tables were spaced-apart. the restaurant was quite spacious, and not noisy at all. The service was excellent and friendly. The food was great. No one was disappointed. I had capellini and my husband had chicken with vegetables and a sauce including capers. He loved the spumoni for dessert. If you're in the area, we recommend trying it. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was casually busy. Upon entering the establishment, the lighting makes the place warm and welcoming. The place was dimly lit, but you still have decent lighting at your table. They offer bar and table seating. I actually made a reservation online just in case. The place is casual. The staff are dressed in black. The staff members were friendly and approachable. FOOD: If you look at their website, all the asterisk next to the menu item is available as gluten-free. It didn't indicate that on their website, but it does on their menu at the restaurant. There is happy hour from 3pm-6pm and 9pm-close. They offer a lot of different choices from pasta, salad, pizza, and sandwiches. There was complimentary bread basket, which had garlic breadsticks and sliced baguette. No butter, but it doesn't need it. The breadsticks were warm. Even though that was delicious, my favorite was the bread. It was fluffy and not too dense. I had the Penne Al Forno, which I made the comment that it looks like pizza! (It was the pepperoni that spark that comment.) My husband ordered Tortelloni Alla Panna. Both dishes were delicious. Penne Al Forno is a hearty meat dish compare to Tortelloni Alla Panna. The broccoli in the Tortelloni Alla Panna was cooked al dente - just perfect. We also ordered the Cheesecake, which came with 2 spoons. It hazelnut on the cheesecake and raspberry sauce works with the dish to add that crunch/texture. Overall, we could come back for more. I've been to the Eagan location prior, but this was my first visit to the St. Paul location. I prefer this location. The waiter was very friendly and gave good suggestions. I had the cheeseburger with a side salad. My waiter recommended the house dressing. It was pretty darn good. The salad itself tasted a little earthy - not sure if the lettuce was washed thoroughly, but I'd skip that next time. The burger itself was great. My family really enjoyed their ravioli and lasagna dishes. We will definitely be back. read more

I'd recommend getting take-out. Love their food (pasta & pizzas) but finally had the opportunity to dine-in. Lots of open tables but they insisted on seating us by the beverage station in front of the kitchen door. Drinks (& yes, we ordered alcohol!) came out AFTER our food‍. Andiamo is a great restaurant for date night or to catch up with friends. They are great at handling gluten free and have a lot of options. Gluten free food comes out with a sticker on the plate to make you feel safer. I got the special at the time Penne Calabrese with gluten free pasta and chicken, a limoncello spritz, creme brûlée, and gluten free bread. I loved the Penne Calabrese that has Calabrian pepper pesto, garlic, cream, basil, and parmesan . I hope they keep it on the menu! I so wanted this place to be great. The Woodbury location is much better. I've dined at St. Paul a few times. The food is bland. Their pesto cream sauce made me nauseated--the ingredients were all separated, and there was A LOT of oil. It didn't taste like olive oil either--maybe canola? The chicken marsala didn't taste like it had real marsala wine. Worst, though, was the service. I'm so sorry to say it, but it's very slow, inattentive, and on a few occasions I've had a sarcastic server who should find another line of work. Maybe it's better at the bar? read more

We gathered here to visit family after flying in to visit Minnesota from California. We had a large group, and they accommodated us with ease. From a group that has had many yummy Italian restaurants back home, this tops almost all of them. We got different pasta, pizza, lasagna, calamari, salads, and chicken Parmesan - all were 10/10. The best was the Zuppa soup; we are used to it with sausage, but the chicken elevated the flavor, and we will now make it with chicken. Everything felt like it was made with love, which is needed when cooking Italian food. It's not authentic, but it's very well made. Overall, the staff was friendly and attentive. A few times, some of us felt slightly misunderstood or confused, but I think this came with having a group of 12. Overall, we were thankful to have a yummy meal after a long travel day. A fan favorite from Woodbury and Eagan has now moved into Saint Paul serving Italian cuisine. Located in the old BWW space, this area needed something good and I'm very pleased on the decided selection. As this location is still getting up and running, they are working on the liquor license which should be completed very soon. I enjoy the transformation I'd the space and it feels very cozy. Hoping this is a great success for Andiamo as the food tastes just as good as the other locations. Enjoy! read more

The place was meh at best. I ordered a gin and tonic and the tonic was so extremely flat. It was gross. I asked if they could make a new one and apparently they put on a new tonic bag, but the CO2 in the tonic was not doing it. It was flat. Don't order any tonic drinks here. Instead, I ordered a Limonata and that I knew would be better as it was from the can. I always judge an Italian restaurant on its marinara sauce, and it was a huge disappointment as most Italian restaurants are. They all use canned tomatoes and add unnecessary sugar in all of their sauces. I make my own from San Marzano tomatoes the way it's supposed to be made. Not with sugar and aluminum tasting canned tomatoes. I just ordered a few apps. My friend ordered the shrimp scampi spaghetti and asked for scallops to be added. For $8 he got 4 tiny pieces of scallops. Breadsticks were underwhelming to say the least. I kinda knew this chain wouldn't be any good. Unfortunately, I was right. I won't be coming back. We spent $85. I'd rather save my money and make this at home. Customer service was good. Attentive. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, this ain't the place. read more

This (6/30/24) was our second visit to Andiamo and it's become our favorite. The food is excellent - we've had the Chicken Andiamo, the Manicotti and the Roasted Vegetable and Goat Cheese pizza. We sat at the bar before eating and enjoyed an Aperol Spritz. All the staff on both occasions were friendly and accommodating to our needs. Andiamo is a great addition to the neighborhood! read more

Best Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (although they call it Alla Romano)! It's the thick cream like I make at home rather than the watery versions found at most restaurants. Husband and teens enjoyed their ravioli and spaghetti and meatballs very much also. Atmosphere is a bit darker for family dining, but it would be great for a date. Suited more for adults, but nothing wrong with bringing your kids. It's a cloth napkins kinda place, but not a 'which fork do I use' kinda place. Service has been very friendly and attentive both times we've been here. Restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Free street parking. Free parking available right in front but shared with 2-3 other restaurants. Handicap parking available. No stairs. Plenty of room to maneuver between tables. read more

12 of us went here for my 75th birthday. 9 adults and 3 children. It was great! My wife and I split the apple gorgonzola salad. Very tasty and quite large. I had the penne el forno which is my favorite and it did not disappoint! My wife had lasagna, very good. Everyone else liked there food. Cocktails were tasty. And all the desserts were fantastic!!! This place is just under mediocre... the service was great, and it's nice looking inside (though weirdly large - it felt empty despite a lot of people eating there). My husband and I both got the lasagna which was very weird. Hardly any ricotta. Full of spicy sausage? Edible but not recognizably lasagna. My daughter had the ravioli, which ironically had almost too much ricotta, and some of them were cold inside. I could not imagine a reason to go back there given how many delicious places there are around here. The third star is for service - food is a two at best. read more

Making a last minute dinner reservation online the day before Valentine's Day was easy. The rather early time available worked fine in our evening plans. We were seated in a booth promptly after arriving, and soon our server came to greet us and pour us ice water, then said she'd return after several minutes to allow us time to look over the menu. I ordered a cup of their Pasta Fagioli, and we ordered a Caesar Salad to share for starters, and for our main course, I ordered their Spaghetti Bolognese and my companion ordered their Spaghetti Carbonara. When the cup of soup arrived, I found the tubes of pasta were laid on top as a garnish, kinda strange. But maybe they do it that way to avoid pasta soaking in the broth for hours and becoming mushy. The soup was delicious, and I'll gladly order it again. I'm a fan of various versions of Pasta Fagioli. The Caesar Salad was decent, nothing great - greens, dressing, and large croutons. The overly generous amount of dressing tasted like something pre-made, out of a bottle. When our main entrees arrived, our server asked whether we'd like some extra Parmesan, and my companion said yes, thinking she'd return with a chunk of cheese and a grater. She brought a shaker jar of powdered Parmesan - the kind you'll often find at a pizza joint. They offer no "freshly-ground black pepper", or freshly-grated Parmesan. She invited us to help ourselves to the condiments on the table tray (salt & pepper, red pepper flakes, etc.) My companion really enjoyed the Carbonara, and gobbled it down, finishing well before I did. I found my Bolognese to be rather bland on the first bite, so I added some red pepper flakes, which helped. As I got to the bottom of my bowl, I found that most of the meat sauce was sitting at the bottom, instead of being distributed throughout the pasta dish. If I get this dish again, I'll be sure to stir/toss it all really well before I begin eating it. Within a minute of my companion finishing his pasta, our server was back at the table offering to clear his plate. He declined. She did not understand. I spoke up to let her know he wished his plate to remain in place while I finished my meal. She seemed to accept that, although she seemed confused. Again, a short while later, a very young man arrived at the table wanting to clear away that same empty dish. Again, we declined, stating the same thing to him as we had to our server. Clearly, I was still eating my pasta. A while later, I was finished eating and thus made it obvious I was finished, by placing my silverware across my plate, and, a moment later, a different person came by to ask to clear our dishes, and we agreed. Why is it that soooo many restaurant workers want to clear away dishes from the table the second they're emptied (rhetorical)?. It certainly can't be because they're running low on dishes back in the kitchen, not when it's barely 5:15 pm, and the restaurant is, maybe, 1/4 full. Although we didn't want any dessert (because we were heading downtown St. Paul and would be stopping in at Cossetta's Pasticceria for some macarons to sneak in with us to the PWHL Minnesota Hockey game), my companion ordered a double espresso and said it was good. I noticed on their Lunch time menu that they offer All You Can Eat Soup and Salad for $12, and I plan to return sometime to do that. read more

Sunday evening 2/16 25 absolutely terrible service! No way to get a second cocktail and some in our party of 14 never got their first one. Waitress just didn't care seeing how 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Two of our party tried their dish and didn't eat any more of it and one was a pizza. Mediocre all around. The space is cavernous yet quiet, and lacks vibe. Food is not bad, but not great. Service competent. About the best thing I can say is they have ample parking, but it is a lot more fun to dine at nearby Pizza Luce. I probably won't return, but if someone wanted me to join them there I wouldn't mind.
