A popular local butchers, similar to Gibson's (see my review). The thing about these butchers that still makes them popular (although obviously not as popular as they were before the big supermarket chains arrived) is their customer service. They still do the occasional offers on different items which can make them well worth a visit, especially in the summer when you see offers for burgers and sausages.
Customer service is so important to places like this, and they make an effort to get to know their customers very quickly. In an age where discounts ensure that we all flock to the big supermarket chains, it's become something of a refreshing change and a novelty to be able to go into local businesses and get some sort of recognition/customer care. We're always going to go to the big chains (who could afford not to?) but calling in to businesses like these gives you the rare opportunity to experience the personal touch (see my Direct Furniture review)
Another reason these butchers still have a loyal following is that they have Christmas clubs. You can pay your turkey/Christmas order off at a few pounds per week from around August, thereby spreading the cost of Christmas. Again, things like this were more popular before the supermarket chains, but there are still plenty of people who use this service. And that's before we start talking about meat parcels...
