It has a lot of Indian restaurants (actually the majority are Bangladeshi folks and not Indian people) with lots of expensive residential properties and student housing around the surrounding streets. The surrounding area has Queens university, private clinics a private hospital and 3 major NHS hospitals. I was in around 4pm and it was so very quiet, not even a handful of shoppers. It's located off the main Lisburn road with a private parking lot. I walked in to do some shopping (teriyaki salmon, Alaskan wild red sockeye salmon, Bao buns and a few other other goodies). It's hard to believe that they have already begun stocking the shelves with Christmas goodies. I'm quite sure it's a pay to park place, but as long as you are parked for under two hours and spend I think £10 in M&S your parking charges are waived. I prefer the M&S food hall about 10 minutes drive away on Boucher road but only because it has an M&S cafe.

It has ample parking out the front which is handy when you are in a hurry. It is also one of the larger simply food establishments I have been in and seems to be kept very well stocked, sometimes when you go to M&S for lunch after about 1pm there is very little to choose from. It has self-service tills, I like these the last thing I want to be doing on my lunch break is making small talk about the weather. I would definitely recommend this over the Boucher Road which often sells out of 'food on the move' and is a total nightmare to park at.

Unfortunately this place will never dethrone Massey's as Saintfield's main butcher. Firstly, the place is very unattractive from the outside, and highly basic inside. It gives me the impression of the freezer where the killer in the first series of Dexter kept his bodies! Secondly, where this place could have improved on Massey's would be cheapness. Unfortunately this is not the case. I recently had to buy chicken breasts from here for making sandwiches for my girlfriend's birthday party and it cost me £20 for 15 medium to small sized chicken breasts. If I had went to Asda I could have got bout ten more for the same price! On the plus side it's never too buy here if you want to come here, but that is never a good sign for a business!

The staff are all thoroughly knowledgeable and helpful in offering samples of cheese to assist you in your choice. They also have a very well-stocked delicatessen which includes an impressive cheese counter and it was this delicatessen which I recently explored. When I made my first visit to The Pie Shop across the street, I wanted to combine the pies with delicatessen stuff out of McCartney's, particularly salads and cheeses. I wanted two blue cheeses and I opted for Shropshire Blue (which I already knew from long ago) and a totally unfamiliar one called Blue Murder by Alex James of Blur. Now that was a find! I definitely want more. Salad-wise, I opted for a broccoli, carrot and nut salad which is in a mayonnaise mix. That's also my favourite side salad at a local deli and this is fairly similar to that. I already know how well it goes with lasagne and it's great with pastry pies too.

Once again, the food is outstanding and the customer service is the best. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

This place has been around for a couple of years and has an amazing reputation. A friend of mine briefly worked in here so we all checked it out when it first opened and have been back lots of times. You can get ready made meals that you can stick into the old oven and there you go - you have a meal for as many people as you need. The prices are good and the staff are knowledgable and helpful. It's based right in Bloomfield Shopping Centre so there is plenty of good parking and ATMs near by.

You can get every day meals like a whole chicken ready prepared with potatoes and veg - just shove it in the oven and 2 hours later you've got a family dinner. There's also chicken gougons, stuffed chicken breasts and chicken stir fries ready done with veg and sauces. The beef is fantastic and only comes from one farm in County Tyrone which uses the most animal welfare conscious methods possible. I think that's important these days and I also think the beef tastes all the better for it. Quite often if we're entertaining, I buy the main course from McGees. I don't actually lie and say I have made it myself, but if no-one asks, I sure ain't telling. I have done stuffed pork fillet and rack of lamb which come beautifully prepared and just go straight in the oven. To complete your meal, whether a week day tea or a dinner party, McGees also do lush little garlic potatoes, chilli potatoes and packs of stir fry veg. Prices are great too, for example the complete chicken dinner is £7 which you really couldn't beat by making it all from scratch yourself.
