My husband, children and I went to Northstar Ford on Friday, May 23rd to purchase a used truck. We…read morehad a couple in mind and a price point. We did not have to wait long because we had made an appointment with Jeff Van Meter. He greeted us and brought us in his office to do paperwork and pre-approval. I had told him right away that we wanted to do a joint vehicle loan and we are married. He said since we are married and live in Wisconsin that is the best way to go. He tried to upsell us on other trucks which is totally fine because that is their job. We took the one we ended up buying for a test drive. I told him it had a chip in the windshield which he said they would set up to replace which they did set that up a week later. We told them we wanted it. Jeff and his team started the paperwork. I know it takes some time but when the guy that did the paper work came out to finalize the paperwork it was only in my husbands name (which also meant a slightly worst interest rate because I have a better credit score even though his isnt bad). When I mentioned it to the manager he just said Jeff didnt say that. My husband was pretty frustrated with being there so long with the kids he said whatever. Now I get a letter from the bank that did the loan saying "since you are married you take responsibility if he defaults on his loan but since you weren't on the loan it wont help your credit score". They do not listen to people even though Jeff had insisted that it was a joint loan in the beginning. When my husband leaves and meets back up with my children and I, he lets me know the backup camera isn't working. After trying to get a hold of Jeff for multiple days he says that he would "check with the used vehicle repair man" to see if they would cover it. I told him I understand it is a used vehicle but it worked when we test drove it AND it was advertised on the website as having a working back up camera. After a week of him not getting back to me, I am sure we are just written off and have to "deal with it". Also, the remote start advertised doesnt work on any key fob either You are just a number at Northstar Ford and not a person. Once you leave they don't give one crap. We will not be purchasing any more vehicles here. I should have listened to a friend that went to purchase a brand new vehicle last year and was treated rudely. Lesson learned, I guess. I also left a Google Maps review and someone said that the manager would reach out to try to resolve this ASAP and that was 3 days ago.

I showed up on time at 11am, handed the service counter my keys, and went to the waiting area. Over three hours pass without any communication, and then the customer rep comes out and tells me they can't get my wheels to fit, and that I need new center rings and lugs, but that they didn't have any in stock, and that they couldn't source them. What kind of service technician (of 30 years apparently) starts a job without checking fitment first? This is a Subaru Outback mind you, at a Subaru dealership, and they can't get the parts? He apologized and said they were putting my old tires back on and they'd be done shortly. That shortly lasted another hour before he came to tell me one of my tires was being "finicky", he apologized again and said they were almost done. 20 minutes later he finally comes to get me, and in the end I paid over $400 for tires I can't use. But they did give me a free car wash at Kwiktrip! Ooooo They charged me for an incomplete job, wasted my time and money, and now I have to get the work done somewhere else. Never again will I visit this dealership. Horrible service and terrible work ethic.

They replaced my alternator and six months later it died. I took it to Tires Plus to replace it…read morebecause Subaru would take 2 weeks to even get it in the shop. Apparently there was a warranty on the original part, but Subaru wouldn't process it because they said it was an O'Reilly's part and Subaru wasn't the one who deemed it a failure. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!!!!! NEVER BUY A VECHILE FROM THIS LOCATION. We had a vehicle with an on going…read moreissue for two years. Brought vehicle in multiple times under warranty to have it addressed. Due to the lack of the service dept/dealership they never scoped the area of the engine that was triggering the check engine light the engine, now needs to be replaced. We drove the vehicle multiple times to the dealership under warranty to only have them tell us they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Making us pay diagnostic charges along with this. The dealership told us to keep driving it and bring it up there as soon as the check engine light came on so they could run the code. Never finding anything till recently. We had to ask serval times to have them look at the same issue cause the truck wasn't driving right and the light coming on and off. They finally scoped the engine where said problem was TWO YEARS AGO and found the engine to needing to replaced. Since now it is out of warranty they needed approval to fix it. They ultimately denied us this repair. It sat at the dealership for more than 3 weeks, with the warranty company telling us not to drive it since we knew something was wrong with it until we get approval to drive it. We now have to pay 400 for the car rental and diagnostic finding. The engine is 12,000 to replace. All of this could have been avoided or covered by the warranty company if the Dealership/service center did there job TWO YEARS AGO, or the multiple times we had the vehicle up there to be looked at for the SAME ISSUE. We had to call daily to get any sort of update, or leave a message to hardly get a call back. We asked what we should do from here. GET THIS, they gave us the number to the better business bureau or to call the attorney general. I'm honestly appalled by the lack of communication, respect and lack of service from this location. After talking to others about our issue. It sounds like this is a common occurrence for this location. One person told me they had a similar problem and the dealership had her truck longer than she owned it. If you are looking to buy a vehicle here sure, they do a great job getting you to buy one, but don't come back for repairs or warranty issues. This is there fault and they should stand behind there company and brand. I honestly think they didn't want to pay for the repair knowing what was wrong with and knowing they didn't take the right steps, and waited for it to be out of warranty. GOOD LUCK!
