This is actually Zarrow Internafional School, a Spanish immersion school. My daughter has attended…read morethis school since kindergarten. I love this school. All of the teachers (that Audrey has had) are great. She is now in the fourth grade (the school goes to fifth) and I will be sad to say goodbye. Audrey has learned so much and is on her way to being fluent in Spanish. I always get native speakers boasting about how well she speaks and that there is an absence of an accent. A true testiment to how much of an asset this school is to the future of Tulsa. It is a tough road at times but I recommend any child attend this school. So many opportunities will be available to a bilingual child. Eisenhower is their sister school. They offer French and Spanish. Our granddaughter attends the French Immersion school here. We went for grandparents day. I have…read morebeen impressed with the things she has been learning but when we were there to observe the teachers and kids, I came away with an even better opinion. The teachers all seem so kind and caring of each individual child. We also observed a level of discipline that is rarely seen in todays society. The children are being taught to be respectful of others and their surroundings. I saw examples of children being trained to be kind to each other. I saw discipline of respect for the facility. I also observed a principal show a child how to be self controlled rather than running wild. Education and book learning is highly important, but if a child cannot control their own impulses and behavior, the book learning seems to bypass the childs attention. Mrs Eva has 25 years of experience on our local school board and is quite observant of how schools are operated. She was highly complimentary of this school. I am extremely impressed with what I observed and felt like I was in a private school rather than a public school.

When I moved to Tulsa and was looking for opportunities to get more involved in the community, I was thrilled to find KIPP here. Their mission is to create a classroom that helps children develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits necessary to succeed in college and build a better tomorrow for their communities. KIPP Tulsa College Preparatory opened in 2005 and is located in north Tulsa. The program now serves more than 320 students in the 5th through 8th grade. The average 5th grader enrolls at KIPP Tulsa 2 to 3 grade levels behind in math and reading. It is their mission not only to catch its students up to grade level but to prepare them for success in high school and college as well. Teachers customize curriculum that focuses on the necessary remediation and higher order thinking processes. This ensures that all students are challenged to reach their full intellectual potential, and that every student is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in college and in life.
