Several years back I had hired Anctil as a subcontractor for a remodel of two of my bathrooms. One morning I noticed a young plumber standing in my dining room. I was wondering what he was doing there as the job was not in that room, so I went over and just started chatting with him. He seemed a bit startled when I approached. Through the conversation he told me he was an apprentice and had only been with the company for a few months. He was only in his early twenties, so no surprise. Later that evening when my sister who lived with me at the time came home, she immediately noticed some of her jewelry missing, very expensive jewelry that my parents had given her over the years. She is extremely organized which is why she noticed so fast. Unfortunately, that spot was right across the hall from one of the bathrooms that was being remodeled. You also walk by that spot coming and going from the other bathroom. Both of us flashed back to that incident that morning and the odd, guilty behavior we noticed. I called Anctil the next morning and told them what happened and just asked that they ask the guy if he took it, and if so, that he simply return it, no questions asked. The owner (Anctil) got heated with me. He lied to me and told me he had worked for them for fifteen years and he knew him extremely well. I tried to explain to him that it would have meant he hired him when he was under ten years old. Once he started to defend him and lied to me about him, I told him I didn't want them back. I hired another plumber that day to replace Anctil. THIS is what he said to me, in an evil sounding tone of voice. He said that if I said anything, or reported it to the police he would rip my sister's reputation apart. Now, my sister has a skeleton or two in the closet like most people, that's true, but she also has a heart of gold and it doesn't change the facts. The reason she was living with me was to nurse me back to health after a spinal cord injury. She lived with me and did so much for me over two years. I'm very proud of her and glad a have such a kind and caring sister. Next, she moved in with my parents to help as my mom was dying of cancer. She helped my mom by taking over all the chores and doing anything my mom and dad needed of her. After my mom passed she stayed to help my dad. Eventually she helped him pass as well. She was and is an absolute godsend to our family. We have no idea how we would have done everything she did for them. All while working as well. Months after my sister moved out of my place, about two years after the incident, I was oiling my dining room furniture. I began taking some bowls down off of a high shelf, and there, inside one bowl, was the missing jewelry! That bowl happened to be right next to the spot where I noticed that plumber oddly standing that morning some time ago. My guess is that when we saw him there he must have ditched the jewelry as to not get caught after we walked away. I asked my sister if she could have left it there, she said she never takes her jewelry off anywhere but in her room where she can put it where it belongs. I absolutely believe her. It made no sense for it to be there, unless it was ditched. I honestly can't swear that anyone tried to steal her jewelry. It's not a fact, just a very strong, educated opinion. That isn't the point of this review. The owner threatening to bring harm upon my sister is absolutely disgusting. This has bothered me for years and I just can't hold it in anymore. There is no integrity in that disgusting "man". Let the chips fall where they may. Does Anctil want to drag my sister through the mud? Does he want to drag me through the mud? Judging from his character he displayed on the phone that day, probably. I guess we'll see. Evil people get one star in my book, none if that was possible. read more

I had a poor experience with Anctil. I called and explained I had a leaky faucet that I would like replaced and had purchased a new faucet and water supply lines for the job. The scheduler said Chris would be out to do the work. On the day of the visit, I was surprised to discover that Chris was unprepared to do the job and said he would need to come back at a different time. Anctil's scheduler then told me it would be almost a month before someone could come out to do the job I had originally requested. This was an unreasonable wait in my view, especially since I had already thought the job would be completed. I found a different plumbing company, who set up a prompt appointment just one week out. Days later, I received a "site visit" bill from Anctil for $92. No prior warning was given about this fee - either during my initial call or when I called to cancel the second appointment. I understand the purpose of this "look-and-see" charge, but it is poor customer service not to advise the customer to expect a significant fee like this. I also question the long wait time for the "actual" job to be completed after the quick, initial visit. Overall, I felt deceived and unfairly treated. read more

Absolutely outstanding company, highly recommend Anctil Plumbing! Had our entire house Re-piped. It had been a reno (50 yrs old) and looks great but we knew when we purchased it a year ago, it would likely need new pipes. Anctil was always on time and got right to work. We had Anctil Plumbing replace the hose bib faucet pipe in the front of our house. According to plumber we know, should have been about 15 minutes at most even if problematic. The Anctil plumber kept dragging it on, not able to get the pipe to supposedly screwed into the old pipe in the wall properly. I finally called a plumber we know and asked them what to do to get him to finish. I was instructed get down and shine a flash light in the hole to see where the pipe is and once I did that, well then all of a sudden MIRACULOUSLY the plumber had no trouble screwing the new pipe into the old pipe in the wall after fooling around with it for 40 minutes. The next item, installing the shut off valve in the basement ceiling, wide open area, no wall, nothing in the way, reach up, cut, install and he was done with that in about 5 minutes as he should have been. We were billed for an hour and a half, even though the plumber was not here that long and we were told it would be done in an hour prior to having them out. We will never use them again and will not recommend them. read more

We were in a pickle. We tried to replace the kitchen faucet ourselves, but once we were 1/2 way into it, we didn't have the right tools. Bill came out the same day I called, and fixed it for us, and removed some old plumbing bits and things that needed to go. Highly recommend them. read more

I haven't used Anctil since 2016 or so, because they began to concentrate on remodels and new construction, so they weren't taking on as much service call work. Their main service professional, Bryan (quite honestly one of the best tradesmen I've ever worked with), retired last year. They are still good and honest people, and I hope they hire trusted professionals to help out with customers who need everyday plumbing service. read more

I had someone from Anctil come over and install the temperature control unit for a new faucet kit I purchased for my shower. I had just finished tiling around the bathtub and was trying to get everything done before we moved into the house. They ended up being pretty pricy for what seemed like a pretty simple job. The person that came out wasn't the friendliest. He wasn't mean, but definitely seemed like he didn't want to be there. Before he started, he commented that normally a bigger hole is left around the tub side of the temperature control. I apologized and explained it was my first tile job. I asked if it would be a problem and he said he could work with it, but his mood soured even more. He basically stopped talking and never smiled after this. I had a hole cut behind the bathtub so the plumber would have access to the pipes since the tub side was tiled. The plumber asked if he could make the hole bigger to give himself more room. I didn't object and he ended up tearing the hole to make it bigger instead of cutting it. This made a huge mess I had to clean up later and also made patching the hole much harder after he left. I had to do a lot of sanding and cutting on the drywall to get the wall to look normal again. read more

I had a water leak on one of the pipes leaving my hot water heater. I called Anctil and one other plumber. The person who answered the phone at **the other plumber** quoted me a minimum price and said that the plumber who came out would tell me what was needed, whether he'd need to make another trip, and how long it would take. The person who answered the phone at Anctil understood plumbing. He was able to ask the questions necessary to identify what was wrong and to ensure that the person he sent out had the proper supplies to repair the problem. They came out within a few hours and resolved the problem at a fair price. I'm one of those consumers that is very hard to satisfy (read some of my other reviews), and I'm very, very satisfied with Anctil. read more

If communication and being able to count on a company are important to you, don't waste your time with Anctil. They don't return phone calls. After wasting several months trying to follow up with them after they gave an initial consultation, I had to call another company. However, I am SO glad I went with a different company, because they gave a much more thorough assessment and identified some pretty major issues that Anctil completely missed. read more

After having a great experience and writing a terrific review my next experience has been abysmal. After servicing my toilet and replacing a defective flush mechanism, the toilet had an intermittent problem. About every 3rd flush, the mechanism would stick open allowing the water to run endlessly. 4 Calls to Anctil and 4 promises of "we are sending the plumber who did your job back to investigate" no one ever came. Not only did it worsen during this time, but I was also notified by the water dept. of increased usage. My water bill was more than double. Just called Anctil Plumbing about a leak in my backyard faucet. They repiped it 3 years ago. Told me the warranty is expired, but they'd fix it for a price. Personally, I think they should stand by their work and comp me a minor repair. After all it was their work and I paid thousands already. read more

I had an excellent experience with Anctil Plumbing today. I recently received an unusually high water bill. The city checked my meter and confirmed it was accurate and the dial was spinning, despite having no faucets on inside of my home. I eliminated everything within the house and determined that it was an underground leak between the street meter and the shut-off valve in the garage. I called one company and they were going to send out someone to detect the leak for $300+ for the first hour. Then they would send out someone else to repair it for an additional charge. I decided to call one more company to compare prices. I called Anctil and Mark answered the phone. He asked me a few questions about my problem, including "Do you have irrigation?" I told him I did and he asked me to shut the main irrigation valve. Sure enough, the dial on the meter stopped turning. Now I can repair the irrigation system at my leisure, and it won't cost me hundreds of dollars. I now have a new plumber for any future plumbing needs. Thanks you Mark and Anctil! read more
