I was seated immediately, and it took less than 15 minutes for me to get an order of large fried cod, chips, and mashed peas. The portion size was monumental. The fish was nice and hot, and clearly fresh. They were plentiful, condiments on the table. I would definitely recommend stopping by this place if you are in Portsmith. I am visiting from Los Angeles, and, although I am by no means a fish and chips connoisseur, I have had my fair share! This gets to thumbs up!

Where else in Portsmouth can you get cod and chips for £1.90?…read more Not only is this a Chinese takeaway but they also serve a limited fish and chips menu. I believe their prices are the cheapest in Portsmouth, and yet the quality of their food is great (even the chips are always nice and fresh having been cooked in clean oil, and not kept heated for hours on end). It's such a busy place there's no time for chips to go stale anyway! Their Chinese menu is full of all your essential takeaway favourites at a great price and their king prawn dishes are my favourite as they feature a huge portion of proper big king size prawns, not the pale imitation you get in many places. Service is always polite, friendly and as quick as possible, and of course you can phone in your order then collect it to save waiting.

Nice views of the sea from the restaurant, inside seating or outside. Server told us it would be 45 min wait for food in a half empty restaurant, hmm ok. And 45 min wait to order a drink. Hmm ok again. maybe they do things differently down south of the country. Ended up being just a 30 min wait. Ordered two tap waters at the bar and the bartender looked at me like he's never heard such a request before. No alcohol today? Are you Ill? The fish was white and fresh with a good batter. No tartar sauce though. The mushy peas were pretty good, just need some salt on top. The pili pili "king" prawns were a bit of a scam. Nothing king about them, more like fish bait shrimp served here. And hardly any of those served to begin with. The garlic, chilli oil was good though. You get some bread on the side for soaking. The restaurant is very bright and airy, there's not that many sit down places by the beach. The menu is obviously Centering around the fried fish.
