Restaurant ran out of one of our choices, I guess after we ordered because it took a while to get back to us to let us know. I've had better fish tacos, but the cauliflower taco was very good, and the sweet potato and black bean taco was fabulous when I had it before. SO good!! It's elevated Mexican food. Some items are very similar to what we find in Mexico. Of course, queso dip doesn't exist in Mexico, but we love it and this one is good. The fajitas, enchiladas and Gringo burrito (with ground beef) were all simply delicious. So tasty!! Nearly every single thing here is made to order from scratch. So you can customize for preferences or allergies. The ancho salsa is spectacular. I didn't have to ask for hotter sauce, as they have it right on the table. Red, green, and black habanero sauces. I had never seen the black one before and it was HOT! Loved it!! If it's you and your partner, or a buddy and you each have 2 drinks (FANTASTIC margaritas!), plan on dropping $100+. It ain't cheap. This will be our special treat Mexican spot. Too rich for every day. We'll stick with Teocali or El Alteño as usual. The ambience of the restaurant was an A+. I pass by weekly when heading to the gym so visiting Ancho has been on my list of to do's. Glad I finally stopped by. The service was exceptional as well. Our waiter gave us tips, suggestions, warnings so I knew not to order something spicy. I always appreciate the honest of the waiting staff, it makes my experience so much better. We started with the queso. I would say it was pretty mild, not as flavorful as some other quesos I've tried. The Plantains were delicious, nice change in taste from the savory flavors in the main course. I decided to try the smoked chicken enchiladas but hope to try more when I make it back. They were very filling, the chicken was tender in spots but not throughout the enchilada. So a little disappointed but still tasted good overall. For my entrée, I had the mesquite‑smoked chicken enchilada, and wow. Easily the best enchilada I've had so far. Packed with flavor, super tender chicken, sitting on cilantro lime rice with a tomatillo green chile sauce. Fantastic! Enough leftover to take with! My only complaint? Beautiful and delicious! This place is brand new and it sure is popular. We arrived around 5pm without a reservation on a Saturday and were told it would be a 40 minute wait. We got on their waitlist which was monitored by phone, which I love. It wasn't needed though because we got seats at the bar within minutes. On top of being crowded, it sounded like they may have ran out of a few things. Understandable for a new, popular restaurant while they learn inventory needs. Our bartender/waiter was very friendly. She was overwhelmed with people and change but still managed to take care of everyone in a timely manner. The food: my burrito was perfect. I haven't had Mexican food with this many spices and flavors in years. To be honest, I've grown accustomed to the typical generic flavors around here. It was so refreshing to taste something with such complexity. I was blown away by the chicken tortilla soup at the first bite, and my burrito was delicious. My margarita was very good, but the raspberry was subtle. The salsa served with the chips was flavorful without being spicy. The chips seemed homemade, which is nice but not my favorite. If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant with different flavors than the standard Mexican places in Lees Summit, I would highly suggest going to Ancho & Agave. Everything that I tried there was delicious and fresh. I loved all of the different single tacos you could pick from so you could mix and match to what you are feeling. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. There are lots of tables and it was pretty loud so I would take that into consideration. But overall it was a good time and our waitress was very nice. I was excited to try a new spot in town! We came for happy hour, which was a little early in my opinion. There is a ton of seating inside but it didn't feel too crowded. Our server Paris was awesome, so friendly and nice! The food was fine but nothing really stood out to me. I had three tacos: sweet potato, grilled shrimp, and blackened salmon. I loved the different textures in the sweet potato. The grilled shrimp had a bit too much of the mango for me. The salmon was definitely my favorite! I'm also not usually a fan of corn tortillas but these were delicious! We also had an order of the esquites. The corn was grilled and felt fresh. The sauce felt a little too processed, almost like powder cheese. All in all, the menu is so big that I would definitely return and try some other things! read more

This is a new restaurant in Lee's Summit. I have been twice. Based on other reviews I guess it's personal taste regarding margaritas. Our group found them very tart and undrinkable. They replaced our first drinks but the second one was not much better. The pitcher was $50 and packed with ice. The drinks are very expensive and really get more ice than drink.. Happy Hour food was unremarkable. Dinner was street tacos-gringo and carnitas which were good and reasonably priced each. We also shared the Gringo burrito was really good. At $17 for a burrito, it is very expensive but it was huge so we split it which took the sting from the price. We asked for spicier salsa but it was an extra charge that typically is not an up charge. I am sure they will make some tweaks in the coming weeks. We will not return for the margarita but we will probably try the food again however we will be price conscious on what we order. We were hoping this would be a place where we could meet our friends for dinner and drinks regularly but this is not the place. read more

Went for lunch with friends and tried a couple tacos and the stacked nachoes el jefe. Wow. The mango chutney on the grilled shrimp taco was so good! Everything was flavorful! The chips and salsa were great. I like that the salsa wasn't chunky and was a bit sweet. We also tried the esquites and it was so good! The sides are all al la cart for the tacos though so we didn't get anything else. Can't wait to come back and try the margaritas. The service was quick, great, and friendly. mikaylyn and erika have been amazing the few times we have been here. it was mikaylyns second day and she absolutely killed it for sure, she got us everything we needed in a timely manner and continued to check on us often. erika gave wonderful suggestions and got us on the taco board which we LOVE she's been nothing but a sweetheart each and everytime. the tacos here go above and beyond, the environment is also so welcoming and the lighting makes everything much better. will be back again! read more

The service was great (Friday night, but early) restaurant was very busy. The atmosphere was excellent, large square bar in the center and lots of hitops and tables. It's really nicely done inside and not loud. Queso dip was lovely, slightly smoky and the chips were great, fresh and light. Veggie quesadilla was nicely spiced and more complex than usual. Good selection of veggies in it too. Carnitas burrito is HUGE! Very different with a coconut and ancho sauce. It's not a hugely dense burrito which is nice for a change too. Signature Margarita is EXCELLENT. Very unusual to get a properly made margarita in a restaurant in the USA. All in all we'd recommend Ancho and Agave highly. read more

We have been so excited to try this place and left feeling just "meh" about the entire thing. The atmosphere in here is really good, lots of seating/lounging areas and great lighting. We were seated near the bar and the service was not great. We were checked on maybe twice by our waitress the whole time and another server noticed we weren't being checked on and picked up her slack. We ordered off the happy hour menu and got a signature and skinny marg, chips and queso, and some tacos. The signature marg was pretty good but the skinny marg was not good at all. I think it needed something else, it tasted like straight lemon/lime juice and was just not good. My husband agreed it was very acidic and did end up saying something and they remade it to be a little more tolerable but it was still undrinkable, which was a bummer. The chips and salsa were great and very flavorful! The queso was watery and pretty average. The tacos also weren't great and almost had too much sauce to where everything fell out of them, but also there wasn't really any filling in the tacos anyways. I think there were 2 shrimp on one taco and 4 pieces of carne asada in the other. All in all, average food with very poor service and it's not worth the price at all. We were pretty disappointed and I'm hoping we caught them on a bad night. read more

I don't normally make fb status but I have to tell y'all about a deeply concerning experience my party and I had at Ancho and Agave restaurant in Lee's Summit on 1/17/26 during what was intended to be a casual dinner. We had a reservation for 5:15 PM. One member of our party arrived shortly before the reservation time, and the remaining guests arrived approximately 15-20 minutes later, which is well within a reasonable window for a group reservation. After being seated and placing our orders, we experienced multiple service issues. While waiting, we observed the manager check on every table in the surrounding area except ours. Our drinks and appetizers took an unusually long time to arrive, and when they did, both food and drinks were incorrect and mixed up. Two members of our party did not receive their meals or drinks at all. I politely attempted to bring these issues to the manager's attention. While I was explaining the situation, he repeatedly interrupted me and stated, "It doesn't matter what was wrong, what do I need to fix?" When I explained that I was attempting to clarify the issues so they could be corrected, he again cut me off and dismissed the explanation. At that point, our party collectively decided to leave due to the manner in which the situation was being handled. The manager removed only one plate from the table and walked away. When I requested his name and contact information for upper management, I was told that I could only speak with him. When my sister expressed concern that our table was the only one not checked on, the manager acknowledged this and stated he "can't get to every table," before walking away again. As we attempted to leave, the manager stated, "YOU PEOPLE were an hour late and caused the whole restaurant to be behind." This statement was both inaccurate and deeply offensive. Our party was not an hour late, and the tone and language used were inappropriate and unacceptable. The combination of dismissive behavior, lack of service, and the manager's choice of language made this experience feel discriminatory and hostile. This was not a misunderstanding about food or timing, it was a failure of professionalism and respect. read more

Margaritas were good. Cool look to the place. Got sat; small table; the manager poured our waters - with his fingers all over the rims of the glasses - so gross. AND he couldn't pronounce "Birria." Some Mexican place. At 6 pm they cranked up the dance club music so loud we couldn't talk to each other. They brought chips and salsa; chips are so thick and over cooked. Salsa was ok, but a spicy one costs six bucks. No real Mexican food like Carnitas or Carne Asada. Just tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, but they do have fajitas. Rice is extra. Beans are extra. Waitress took orders. THIRTY-FIVE minutes later our food arrived. Once delivered NO ONE came by to check if it was good, or needed anything else, wanted more drinks, or anything. Literally no table touches by the waitress or a manager. Saw a male manager standing for over 20 minutes in the same spot. One guest's food came out cold. Food was ok-to-good for the others. The one thing that made us feel like we really were in a Mexican restaurant was the fact that they just let the dirty dishes sit on our table. If I'm going to pay this much for my dinner, I kind of expect the staff to pre-bus my table of empty glasses and plates. Been there; done that. Don't need to go back. read more
