They took my mother-in-law for a ride ! The basement heat was out and they sent a man who took over 5 hours to work on it and charged over $1500 and it still didn't work. Same guy came the next day, spent over 4 hours and charged another $1800 before it finally worked. I now want to add that ANC has decided to not charge for the second day of work. Last week there was damage done three air conditioning units at my office building. We called ANC to come out and access the situation. They were there the same day and provided a reasonable estimate for the repairs. Two of the units were able to be repaired but a third had to be replaced. The repairs were completed and our tenants are happily reporting that the AC is colder than it's ever been. Yesterday they came and replaced our spilt unit, and the techs worked diligently for the better part of the day to ensure the installation was completed correctly. All of the techs that came out were friendly and knowledgeable, but Zack Strait went above and beyond to answer my endless questions about the install. Besides the incredibly unprofessional attitude of the owner, the brand new unit does not work! Upstairs AC achieves only 86 degrees when it's only 80 outside and few of the previous ducts working before they got their hands on them produce no air, hot or cold. Every other contractor of any sort who have been through and saw the horrible job are embarrassed there is such lousy workmanship and total distain for customers in this area. read more

Please don't waste your time, apparently they have plenty of business and do not need new customers. After visiting their showroom in Endicott and meeting with Lloyd about mini split units for our new home we scheduled an in home estimate. Lloyd was very friendly and he understood our needs. He took notes of what services that we needed and made recommendations on other services to consider. I called to follow up after a week to see if he had any updates on an estimate for our home and I did not hear back from him. Later that week I called to follow-up again and I received no response. By the following week the receptionist was aware of my frustration from not hearing anything back and she said it was possible that another salesman may be needed to visit our home. She had told me that she has been reaching out to Lloyd following each of my calls and she seemed very surprised that he was not getting back to me. After waiting nearly three weeks for an estimate we decided to choose a different Heating and Air Conditioning service since we are approaching heating season and needed our installation done in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have heard of this happening. A friend of mine went through the same experience with ANC after receiving two other quotes from competitors in a reasonable amount of time. It seems as though ANC has enough business currently and they do not have a need for new customers at this time. read more

I called ANC because my AC stopped working. It was on a Friday and was a very warm day. They sent out 2 young men who took one look and advised me that it was "frozen up" because there was a leak in the coil. They told me the refrigerant level was very low and said it would do no good to simply refill it. After disputing that the warranty was no longer in effect, I produced the paperwork proving that it was indeed in effect. They photographed the paperwork and evidently sent the photo back to the office, where the owner agreed that they would honor the warranty. They told me the new coil would have to be ordered and they would advise me when it arrived and they would schedule the work. After the system thawed out, the AC began working on it's own. I then received an online estimate of $1800., and that did not include the part. That was enough for me to get another estimate. The people I called for that estimate came out and discussed the issue with me, but said they would need to do some diagnostics before giving me any estimate. ANC did no diagnostics except evidently "checking"the refrigerant levels. The second company ascertained that the refrigerant was almost gone and that there must be a leak somewhere in the line. So they brought the refrigerant up to correct level and put dye in the system to identify where the leak was. My instructions were to run the system for 4 days to let the dye work it's way through. It all worked fine for the 4 days. When company 2 came out to check for leaks, there were NO signs of any leaks, and the refrigerant levels were fine also. I have notified ANC that I do not need a new coil. I will let you come to your own conclusions about why this all happened. I suppose if they had replaced the coil and refilled all of the refrigerant, it would have appeared to this consumer as a "job well done". And they would have $1800 in their pocket. I had a gas log set installed in my fireplace, I never received any instructions. A year later the logs would not light, I called ANC and instead of just telling me about the batteries they sent a technician who said there would be a charge. The log insert has continually made the bricks on the outside of the fireplace very dirty and black. I went to ANC to find out how I could fix this and was told it was because of the log arrangement and they needed to be adjusted. After I was told it was an easy fix and they could fix that at no charge, I get a call and they were willing to adjust the logs for a charge of 170.00 plus dollars. I declined. We chose to use this business because we like to use local people and the google reviews were almost all good. Maybe too good to be true. Please also read yelp reviews which don't paint such a flattering picture. I contacted the company through their website 12/19 and received a phone call from the office (Kathy)12/21. We set a quote meeting for 12/23; we wanted a gas insert for our fireplace. Ryan showed up on time and was very personable, promised to email a quote by that evening but we did not hear back. I texted Ryan the next week, as understandably, the week of Christmas is hectic for most people. I did not hear back. I again sent a message via the company's website to which they responded they would email Ryan to reach out. Ryan called with various excuses on January 4th. He did then send us a quote to which my husband responded; I believe there was a message or two sent that day and then nothing for almost two months now. I sent a text to the company last night that, apparently, we needed to look elsewhere for our heating needs. Donna from the store called this morning and was very apologetic. I must say that the office staff are very nice. As I am writing this review, Ryan called my cell phone to make further excuses regarding supply chain issues. I get that there is a wait for product; but that should have been stipulated. In fact, he personally told me what we needed he "was sure we have that in stock". I also understand that sometimes people just drop the ball and I am much more understanding when people are honest and simply say, "I'm sorry, I messed up". Which, eventually, in the course of our conversation he finally did (albeit at my suggestion, lol). Would I recommend them? I don't know, maybe you'll have better luck than we did. At least we didn't pay them up front. I offered, but Ryan said that they didn't take any money until the job was done, which turned out for the best. They can have the one star for that. read more

Do not have this company come and look at your furnace. We had an old furnace that the ANC tech told me had to be replaced. He tagged it with a red tag and had his boss also confirm this with us. They then tried to sell a new furnace to us. I called a competitor who came and could not get our furnace to test high. He even showed us the meter, which ANC did not. We did not need a new furnace. I feel bad for any single mother, elderly customers who fell for their scam. read more

Seems they are getting a lot of bad reviews lately, and they are well deserved. Had a problem with my A/C. They came and "fixed" it by charging me $600 for a new blower. Lasted about a week until it went out again. Turns out it either wasnt the blower or the tech broke the control board while he was in there. Came back a second time and replaced the control board, another $400. The first guy never tested the board and just assumed it was the blower. So I wasted $600 on a blower that wasn't needed. Not to mention that if they had told me $1000 upfront, I could've just got a whole new furnace for that price. After the board was put in, I asked about what they would do about charging me that much money when surely they were responsible for at least part of it. Either they charged me for repairs I didn't need or they broke my control board. Service manager became extremely belligerent when I insisted on some kind of compensation as it is not right for me to pay for their screw up. He ordered his tech to remove the board, which I would not allow. Owner and service manager both came over (trying to intimidate by making it three on one) and threatened me before calling the police. Refused to admit they made a mistake. He is now threatening to sue me if I say anything bad about his business. I have just stated the facts and there is no libel or slander here. I do have video, however, of the owner trespassing on my property. I was not refusing payment, I was giving him an opportunity to make right their wrong and he totally blew it. read more

ANC totally took advantage of my situation. My furnace broke down on a Friday night this winter with cold weather due to arrive. I had to have heat for my house. Called ANC and they came Saturday morning during their normal business hours, as I requested. The tech charged me $678 for the control board that is available from multiple online sources for around $140. I could not wait for an on line store to send me the part so I opted the pay the highly inflated price. While installing the new control board the tech either by accident or on purpose miss wired the thermostat wires and blew up my thermostat. The tech then offered me a new thermostat for $298. At that point I declined the lthermostat and paid the tech the $678 for the control board, $89 for the service call and tax. The total was almost $900 for less than one hours worth of parts and labor. Plus I went to Lowe's and picked up a $20 mechanical thermostat and installed it myself. The good news is that ANC did fix the furnace and I have heat. But, they totally overcharged for the questionable service I received. read more

I contacted this business after seeing their TV commercial about ductless heating systems. The young man came t my house so he could give me an estimate. I was supposed to get an email with the information. Still nothing after 2 weeks. So I called, and then I called again and then I called a 3rd time. No response of any kind. The receptionist told me she would tell the manager about the situation. NOTHING!! I think because my house was old the kid thought I wasn't good enough or couldn't afford their products...If this is how they treat you before they get your money; imagine how they treat you after you spend thousands of dollars. I can't say anything about their products, installing, or maintenance service - because they never even got us the quote! Setting up an appointment was easy enough, and the representative (as we understood it, he's a co-owner/part of the owning family) came to our house as scheduled. He sounded knowledgeable, and we were quite hopeful for this company. He promised us a quote for a pellet stove insert by the end of the weekend (i.e., within three days). It is now three weeks, three phone calls, and one email later. Not a word. If this is indication of how their service works for existing customers, I'm glad we've been spared the pain. Update 8/2014: I received a somewhat apologetic response here on Yelp from the owner, offering me a price reduction on a pellet stove if I decide to buy from them. Wanting to give the company one more chance, I asked (again!) for a quote, based on the information they'd already obtained during their visit. No response! Sorry, that lack of follow-up won't change my opinion or rating. read more

ANC came when my AC compressor wouldn't start. The tech installed a hard start kit without informing me what he was doing and then proceeded to tell me the cost was $464. Hard start kits do not cost that much. ANC overcharges at every chance they get. I wouldn't ever use them again. read more

I went into ANC this morning intent on buying three gas fireplaces. During the sales pitch, I needed to use the restroom and excused myself. There in the bathroom I saw in the urinal a drain cover (urinal mint) with the face of the President of the United States prominently embossed. I don't care what your political leanings are or your opinion of the President, but I found this disrespectful, and to be in very poor taste and very poor judgement on the part of the ownership and/or management of this company. I would have felt this way whether it was a Republican or a Democratic President being disrespected in this manner. It is just not the way a true American should act. It was their loss ... I took my business up the road and spent my $15,000 worth of business elsewhere. read more

In a nutshell, we essentially had the exact same experience as Liv H described in the prior review. We looked into getting an insert installed into an existing fire place and called ANC to schedule an appointment and get a quote on the various options. A representative (Lloyd Jr.) arrived on schedule, came off as knowledgeable, and then left saying he would provide us a quote within a few days. We gave them a week and did not hear a word back. We then called ANC and a lady answered the phone and said the representative was not available and that she would leave a message for him. Another week went by and nothing. We called again. A different guy answered and said he was going to text and/or email the representative again and that if we did not hear back in a few days, to call again. We never heard anything back and we did not bother calling a THIRD time. Suffice to say, If I'm not worth your time then you're not worth my dollars. I guess business must be pretty good that you're able to leave viable customers out in the cold (pun intended). We will not waste our time considering ANC for any future HVAC work. read more

I do not recommend doing business with ANC. We bought a boiler and pellet stove from ANC back in February 2014 and had them install both. When they brought the boiler in they covered our slate floor and wooden staircase that goes into the basement with a drop cloth. Their stair dolly was broken so they just dragged the boiler down the stairs. When they picked up the drop cloth to leave, we noticed that by dragging the boiler they broke several pieces of slate tile as well as the edge of every wood stairs into the basement. We brought this up to ANC as well as provided pictures of the damage. They said several times that they would contact us to arrange having this repaired and never did. We have contacted them several more times, all with the same outcome. Needless to say, our slate tile and wooden staircase are still not repaired. At this point I have given up hope. read more

I Purchased a Coal Stove from ANC and everything was fine until it came time for service. They kept sending a guy that had to read the directions and he could never get it right. He did get it close each time but never as good the original installer. By the 3rd year the calibration was so far off it would not run! ANC was at the Broome County Home Show (March) I asked for help from Ryan Conklin (Manager) and he promised he would send the original installer but Jim Sear never showed. I have contacted the office at least 6 Times since then and they were always very nice on the phone telling me what I wanted to hear and that's where is always ended. To date I have not received service and my stove is not running. I believe all they want to do is sell and install and then wash there hands of doing any service. Stay away!!!! read more

They are great at selling products, but very unreliable and unprofessional resolving any problems that come up after installation. After giving me a bid to correct an installation mistake (a mistake I was willing to pay to correct, just so it would be done right) they refused to return my calls to schedule the work. After 5 messages left and promises to return the call went unanswered, I concluded that they were either unable or unwilling to do the work.
