The place was ok. The appetizer and the main dishes were both average (mildly below). Servers were attentive. Overall I won't recommend it.

    Ziyaret - Chicken and Kofte

For special occasions we always make our pilgrimage (Ziyaret) to our favourite Turkish restaurant…read more This time it was for my partners birthday (which one I daren't mention) so a table was booked a few weeks ago because of the pandemic and to make sure. I mentioned, at the time of booking online, of this fact. Huseyin was his usual perfect host with the traditional hand spray before anything. He restricted bookings to 4 tables a night to follow coronavirus precautions. We wondered how they had coped during this pandemic but, as he said, they did take-away as soon as it was allowed. All I can say is, it worked. This fantastic restaurant was still here and thriving, thank goodness. The service hadn't changed, nothing is too much for them. There is NEVER a rush. As for the food, delicious. A bottle of good Turkish red wine takes us back to that Turquoise Coast. With bread and wonderful dips. A yoghurt dip and the other a biting chilli dip that I will have to pinch the recipe. We love it. Chicken kebab with all the trimmings for my partner and the chefs special of Creamy Chicken Guvec for me. Small pieces of slow cooked chicken in the chefs cream sauce with mushrooms, asparagus, onions and peppers. That dish is 'to die for'. So filling though. Finishing off with coffee, medium sweet Turkish for me. As if that wasn't enough, out of the kitchen came a plate of cake, with candle, and ice cream for my partners birthday with a bunch of flowers. Everyone singing Happy birthday. That brought a few tears to her eyes. A wonderful thought, and I must thank you for that, it made the evening special. What made it really special was seeing Gizem, Huseyins wife. That wonderful beaming smile of hers was accentuated by the fact that a new waiter was in the offing in a few months time. So pleased for them but we couldn't give them hugs. They know, so they were virtual. A fab couple. Still the best Turkish restaurant in the area, and in my estimation outside of Turkey. Trust me, if you are in the area, give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Look at the reviews!!!!!

Great find!…read more Everything was fresh / cooked to order. We enjoyed Hummus, Kisir and Cacik as appetizers. For our main, we had Chicken Shish, Adana Kofte and Grilled King Prawns. Although entree portions were large, we managed to split a Sutlac for dessert. Very tasty. I would definitely recommended as both the service and general experience were incredible. We got to meet and spend a little time with the owners - which was a memorable touch.

Always delivers a great atmosphere as it's quite popular amongst locals even midweek. It's somewhere you could go for a laid back meal or that of a celebration as it caters for everyone. As you are seated the waiters bring you complimentary bread and salads whilst you peruse your options on the menu. The menu is quite extensive but the general gist is chicken or lamb with rice and salad. I tend to go for the spicy minced lamb and cubes of lamb or the stuffed peppers which are cooked perfectly and full of flavour. A main dish will set you back around £11-£12 but they do an offer on Sunday-Tuesday whereby you can get 2 courses for £12.99 which is well worth the money! Overall I cannot fault it which is why I am a regular customer and will continue to be so!! Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

The menu is huge and they were helpful in narrowing down the best options to get. We also had an infant and a 3-year-old with us and they were very accommodating of the kids. The food here was top notch, with all of their meaty kebobs displayed in a glass case in the front of the restaurant. I had a lamb kebab with yogurt (#37) and the flavors were amazing! The dish was a little cold when it came to the table, but otherwise perfect. I can't wait to try everything else on their menu in the future!

The first experience was fine. I ordered Tavuk Sis, which consisted of marinated cubes of chicken. That was good. The second experience was my anniversary dinner and I ordered the starters baba ghanoush and dolma. Both were great, they came with freshly baked bread. I also ordered a house red wine that I could tell was watered down, so be cautious when ordering as they may water it down. For my entree I ordered the Iskender Kebap and it states it is, grilled lamb or chicken on a base of bread topped with tomato sauce. What I got was lamb doner meat that smelled bad, on a bed of bread that seemed liked it was in the microwave for too long, even sitting in the tomato sauce it should have softened up some but hadn't. This is not was an Iskender Kebap is and for £11.50 (one of the most expensive entrees on the menu), this was total crap. The waiter asked how we were doing, I barely took two bites and already pushed it aside and said, I am not happy with this, where are cubes of grilled lamb? The waiter argued with me and said, "this is how they do Iskender in Turkey". Pretty ironic how I have been eating Turkish food in Newmarket at Turquez and always order the Iskender and I get cubes of lamb, I have also eaten Turkish cuisine all over the United States (which I have also Yelped) and always order the Iskender as it is my favorite dish for crying out loud, and it has never been prepared with hard to eat bread, some tomato sauce and stinky slices of doner meat on top. This is not what I ordered. Instead, of him offering to take it back and make me a happy customer, he proceeded to argue with me. We won't be going here again, I will be speaking to management today to share with them about my experience. After speaking with management they apologized and have offered to make the Iskender Kebap the way I had hoped for it to be made, but they are now serving it with doner meat, but it does not state that on their online menu on their Facebook page and I did not notice that it said that in the description of their menu that they would be serving doner meat,or I would have not ordered it.
