Guidepost Counseling for Wellness

The best advice I ever received about talk therapy and finding a therapist that's a good fit for…read moreme, is to be okay with knowing it might take a few sessions or therapists to land where you want. I started out with a female therapist because that's what I felt most comfortable with. For that time in my life, she was a great fit for me but when it came time for couples sessions, she ended up not being a great fit for my husband and I. I'm so grateful for her in that season, but when I needed a therapist that both my husband and I felt comfortable with, we were recommended Chris Scott. We have been with him for 5+ years. He has helped us at our lowest point in our marriage, and at the highest points. He has helped us through parenting struggles and learning how to show up for our son the ways we desire to. He has been there through unimaginable grief, shifting family dynamics, and more recently I've been working with him doing brain spotting and accelerated resolution therapy which is helping me process some major areas in my life I've been stuck in for decades. What keeps me coming back to Chris Scott is not how much he has fixed for me, it's the tools he's given me to apply to my life when I'm not in his office. Therapists are not there to fix your problems, they are simply there as a guide to help you return back to your most authentic self. If you are willing to put in the work to change your own life, Guidepost Counseling is a great place to start. Their offices are clean, comfortable, and there are sound machines outside all the doors to promote privacy in a space that houses multiple therapist offices.

I would not recommend this establishment! Good luck in your journey!

I spent about two hours filling out paperwork, and must've acknowledged more than one statement in…read morethe paperwork that indicated the first session would be a review and discussion of what was in said paperwork. I appreciated that Haley was able to find us an appointment only two weeks out since we were having an urgent situation, however, apparently that wasn't enough time for Leah Shuffleton to review any of the paperwork before our appointment. This left a really sour taste in my mouth, especially since Leah mentioned in the session that she's doing this only part time as a second job. We cancelled all future appointments and are still pursuing divorce at this point. I will always wonder if things would have been different had we had a better chance at addressing our issues at that critical time.

I read the previous review about billing practices and I've never had any issues. Robin was very upfront with the billing, I think I only paid for one full appointment until they could verify my insurance. Robin made a point to speak to me before the end of the year to see what changes, if any, I'd made with my insurance so there wouldn't be any surprises with being able to afford my appointments in January. She is very mindful and knows financial surprises are not good for my mental health :) I honestly can't put into words how much she has helped me and I'm so grateful to have found her.

She had a bunch of kittens she was caring for like a pet daycare of some sort. Unprofessional! They got my daughter a counselor from out of state for telephone counseling. 3 sessions later Michelle the counselor decided she would no longer be her counselor because she thinks my daughter is using her for disability? My daughter is mentally handicapped and has been diagnosed by that very same office? Michelle has access to her records spoke to her for 3 hours and decided my daughter should take a career placement test? She didn't have a career issue she has mental issues that needed to be addressed. I called Alex to inform him of this situation and he told me he would get my daughter another counselor- that was 4.5 weeks ago and he has not called back- left a message and no call back. This office and it's staff doesn't care about you or your mental health Honestly if you are a person looking for mental health help or have a loved one please stay clear of this very unprofessional, uncaring place!!! It's the Walmart of health care. I'm still in shock at the low level care they offered then completely abandoned a patient. Unreal
