There are many families on grants and financial support (lower income),which we did not mind, though there is no system in place and the preschool lacks leadership and clear guidance from the director and corporate. Teachers don't seem to know when asked questions and do not make any decisions. Often, staff members were on their cell when I came to pickup. It is not Regio or Montessori teaching approach, and from what I've seen the teachers cut and glue the art projects, the children learn by repeating and being indoctrinated with information instead of exploring hands-on and being asked open-ended questions. We were not updated when there were issues that rose, and only found out after the fact that things were handled poorly and without any consent from the parents. This is our third child and I work in education, if you value your child's education and want them to thrive in a supportive, welcoming and communal environment, there are better options out there.

My daughter, who started preschool only after covid times ended, fits perfectly in the kindergarten environment and can read very well( thanks to the amazing way the preschool teachers taught). It has an excellent teaching curriculum and the everyday activities done at the school are totally in line with the MCPS. They'll create great memories participating in Winter/Spring concerts, going to pumpkin farms, swimming pools together. Also I highly recommend the summer program and its weekly themes. I didn't have to think of booking summer camps for them. They were kept busy till evening. Best choice ever!

We loved the balance between structure and free play and really felt like Little Owlets prepared my daughter very well socially and knowledge-wise for kindergarten - the transition to elementary school was a breeze. And there were so many creative and fun activities - cooking, yoga....We loved that outdoor time was emphasized in all but the worst weather and the kids got in quality outside play and exercise time. Management has been very good about communication and the teachers provide updates daily via the Procare app. From what I can tell, they keep the classrooms very clean and organized. There are lots of hands on activities, story time, discovery times, local field trips, and outdoor events (weather permitting). Our daughter is an only child, but she has really warmed up to her classmates, and teachers. Like any early school /daycare we've had a few incidents, it happens, but again the teachers and management were always quick to send out notices, reach out to us, and provide updates. Additionally, the teachers provide feedback to the parents three times each year and post the day's lessons outside the classroom each day so that we can be involved and support our children in their learning goals as well.
