Found out i have a severe thyroid issue and called this office in april, 2025. Was so grateful…read morebecause i was told theyre in network and would have an appointment in september. This was the earliest appointment i could find in two weeks of calling around and getting voicemails. I was in my pcps office when this call happened and my primary sent the referral and documented the call. September rolls around and i dont hear from them so i call to confirm only to be told they have no record of me booking that appointment or calling them at all. I hung up and called my pcp to make sure i didnt get the office wrong and they had date and time stamps of the conversation with dr richards office confirming they were in network and willing to take me and even had record of the date of my appointment with this office so they could get the referral stuff taken care of on time. I called dr richards office back to confirm and was told the same thing: they have zero record of my existence. I was told i must be a medi-cal patient (which im not) and they dont accept medi-cal anyway and if im not a medi-cal patient, then they just arnet accepting new patients CURRENTLY, so they arent sure what my issue is. I was also told they dont accept self referral, and i would need to get a referral, and then later in the call she said she saw my referral and that theyd sent it back because they werent accepting patients. Which isnt true because my pcp has record of them stating they were accepting patients and booked my appt. Which just tells me whoever i had spoken to prior had not done their job, and the people i was speaking with today have zero empathy for the trouble situations like this cause. You find out you have this major health issue and you spend weeks calling around getting voicemail after voicemails, finally get someone willing to take you, have to wait months for a single appointment, only to find out someone let you slip through the cracks in their office and the receptionists have the audacity to act irritated that youre trying to find out what happened. Id say i dont recommend this office, and honestly if you can go somewhere else to take care of your issue do it, but i understand what the office staff apparently dont: this is peoples health, there are limited drs available, months to years of waitlists, and most of us cant AFFORD to go elsewhere for care. Do better. Get better staff, train them better, whatever needs to happen. Just do better.

Absolutely unprofessional. Megan from his office called me 3 hours prior to my appointment to…read morecanceled it. Stating that the required requested labs were not completed. I was never asked or requested to get "additional labs" when I called back to get answers couldn't even speak with DR. Richards office. The person on the phone got some BS message about why they canceled my appointment. It is already difficult enough to get an appointment, make the time, and be seen. I still don't have any request to get additional labs and sill have not been contacted by DR. Richards office. Healthcare is broken.

Dr. Carpenter is a wonderful doctor. He is easy to talk to and extremely down to earth. To me the…read moremost noticable thing about him is that he asks questions and really listens to your answers and responds to you rather then thinkng he already knows everything and it doesn't feel like he just assumes your like everyone else or a textbook. Really disappointed…read more The testing my daughter and I did through Cyrex labs was incredibly helpful. It gave me the answers I needed in a way the eliminations diet would still have me guessing. However, Dr. Carpenter charges a hefty office fee and follow up fee, that didn't bring additional value, clarity or information as to what would be the best way to proceed with the results of the testing. After paying for an office visit and follow up call (just the 1/2 hour calls was $175! to which I had to wait 45 minutes for him to call. In the end I called him!) I was told it would be an additional $265 to have him write a letter for my daughter's school regarding her food sensitivities. In total we had already spent close to $1,000 out of pocket, on the office visit, follow up session and testing.I started to feel nickeled and dimed, and clearly my health and my daughter's were not of concern to Dr. Carpenter. It seems to me a Dr. note ought to be included with the charge for an office visit. If I had it to do over again. I would recommend purchasing the Cyrex Labs kits on-line and turning to Dr. Jockers comprehensive resources on-line, which actually give you ideas and recipes for to best manage food sensitivities.

I also had to wait about 7 months for my appointment, but any questions or concerns I had during the waiting period were responded to by either the Doctor himself or his staff. I never felt like I did not know what to expect. Dr. Lim is a man of little words but his ability as a surgeon is top-tier. Our appointments typically ran anywhere from 15 minutes at the planning stage of the surgery and about 7-10 post-surgery. I didn't meet him to converse or socialize, and I felt very heard and supported when we discussed my surgery before and after the reduction. The surgery itself went very well as did the healing process. I am 48, slender, and in good health, which was an advantage to the healing. He is a very skilled doctor and knows what he is doing. Does he have a warm fuzzy demeanor and chat a lot with his patients? Not really, but that is ok. I was told when he isn't in the office he does about 4 surgeries a day. Having seen him often in the office post-surgery, I know he is swamped and I didn't take any offense to how quick our visits were. I knew if I asked anything he would respond accordingly. I encourage folks to use the portal too if he isn't in. The staff typically responds within 24 hours. Obviously, if it is an emergency you should get yourself to a hospital if things aren't what they should be. He even mentioned that to me and it was also in the post-operative handbook I received after the surgery. All in all, I would give Dr. Alan Lim 5 stars for his work. That's all that truly mattered to me.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Lim was recommended by my Trans child's endocrinologist…read moreto help with Trans affirming care. After waiting more than 9 months to get to the appointment, we summarily found that he would not provide such care to someone under 18 years. My child is 17. This has dashed my child's confidence after wasting 9 months, and now being told to wait another year. This all should have been clear at the time of the appointment. This should have been an FAQ and or front office staff adjustment when making the appointment. Utterly disapointing... and when asked, the doctor showed no sympathy or understanding, and just matter of fact dashed my child's emotional state. I cannot even believe this doctor has even 1 star rating.
