I came in to have a mole and facial malasma checked out. I had unsuccessfully tried all of the over…read morethe counter creams in attempt to lighten my malasma. Dr. Gilbert and his staff are very friendly and were able to provide an effective cream to lighten my malasma. It's nice that they recommend products that they have stocked and information regarding other vendor options. This is the first experience I've had with a dermatologist. I'm satisfied and will continue to come in as needed.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving Frontier Dermatology multiple opportunities to…read moreaddress my concerns directly, I feel it's important to share my experience. Before scheduling a cyst removal procedure, I specifically asked whether it would be covered by my insurance. I was told the office would verify my benefits and let me know before scheduling if there were any issues. I later received a call stating that it was covered, so I moved forward with the procedure. Instead, I was surprised with an approximately $800 bill because the charges were applied to my deductible. At no point was I provided with an estimate of my financial responsibility or told that "covered by insurance" could still mean I would owe hundreds of dollars out of pocket. When I contacted both Frontier Dermatology and my insurance company, neither was able to resolve the issue, and my insurance representative even stated that the provider should have explained the deductible before the procedure. Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of my experience. During my follow-up appointment to have the stitches removed, the provider commented several times that she was having difficulty removing them. Before leaving, I specifically asked whether everything had been removed, and I was told, "I'm pretty sure I got it all." One area never healed correctly. I returned to the office because I believed a stitch had been left behind. After examining the area, including having a physician take a look, I was told they couldn't find anything and that it might just be an irritated hair follicle. Several months later, the same piece of stich finally worked its way to the surface. I scheduled another appointment--this time at a sister location because my regular office couldn't get me in promptly. When I arrived, I learned my appointment had been changed from a nurse practitioner to a physician without notifying me beforehand, and I was required to pay a $60 copay. The physician immediately confirmed what I had suspected all along: a stitch had, in fact, been left behind from the original stitch removal and removed it during that visit which I was told I wouldn't be charged for, yet months later I'm paying for their mistake. I don't believe patients should be charged to correct a complication caused by incomplete follow-up care, especially after raising the concern months earlier. I filed a formal complaint with Frontier Dermatology requesting a review of the situation, a refund of the copay for the corrective visit, and assurance that I would not receive additional charges related to removing the retained stitch. Staff assured me someone would get back to me quickly. It has now been more than a week, and I have not received a phone call, an email, or any acknowledgment of my complaint. Mistakes can happen in any medical practice. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. My frustration comes not only from the billing issues and the retained stitch, but also from the lack of communication and accountability afterward. Make sure you have them sit down with you to review costs, insurance coverage before agreeing to any procedure or you'll be in for an unwelcome surprise!

I'm not going back it is not worth it for me to spend my money there that I can spend anywhere and be treated in such a way for this encounter upon August 5th 2026 at my 4:00 p.m. appointment I will never recommend them to anyone. I was so happy about so much good news this very day that being happy sharing it is a crime so anyone going in there I do not recommend. There were other people talking in the waiting area and they were not called out nor were they humiliated like I was. To sum up the behavior in that office to a customer I would recommend anyone to go anywhere else.

The Handshake Says It All: Unbiased Review of Racial Microaggressions in Healthcare…read more Let me be crystal clear about my experience with Preston Lehr, PA and this dermatology practice: it was unacceptable. As a Black woman, I was subjected to treatment that exemplifies the medical disparities POC face daily in healthcare settings. On my first visit to discuss the removal of skin tags and to have PA Lehr examine my ruptured cyst, his behavior immediately made me uncomfortable. He greeted me with an exaggerated, stereotypical handshake that felt forced and inappropriate--something I guarantee he doesn't do with his white patients in Edmonds. During this visit, he prescribed a powerful antibiotic for my ruptured cyst without mentioning it needed to be taken with food. This potentially dangerous oversight was only caught by my pharmacist, not the doctor who prescribed it. When I returned for my second visit to have the skin tags removed, PA Lehr greeted me with the same uncomfortable handshake. When I asked if the procedure would hurt, his dismissive response that "it's not going to hurt him" was both condescending and unprofessional. I had to specifically ask about aftercare instructions myself--information that should be provided automatically. For my third visit to address the now-calmed cyst, PA Lehr once again greeted me with the same inappropriate handshake. I couldn't help but think: would a 50-year-old white woman, man or non-binary person be treated this way? Absolutely not. During the procedure, he provided minimal explanation and zero aftercare guidance. Only the support staff stepped in to give me the proper information I needed. The support staff was competent, but they can't compensate for a doctor who treats patients differently based on how they look. This is medical racism, plain and simple--not jokes, not lightheartedness, but the exact kind of differential treatment that research consistently shows undermines care for communities of color. I'm giving two stars solely because: 1) The procedures were technically completed and 2) The support staff provided information the PA should have given. I will never return to this practice and strongly advise against it for anyone--ESPECIALLY people of color who deserve healthcare providers who see and respect them as human beings deserving equal care and dignity.
