It was perfect. The performance drew everyone out from the dining room and onto the dance floor. They must have inspired our gala patrons because everyone danced all night after the performance. That, and we raised $500,000 for our charity. They were fantastic! I would highly recommend them for you event.

I emailed 4 possible groups, and Altair Trio stood out as the most reasonably priced, professional and prepared. Cynthia and I set everything up via email, which I loved. We discussed song lists, and she was more than happy to incorporate songs that weren't listed on their repertoire. She advised me on which songs would go together best, and offered to learn new songs, for an additional fee, if I chose to go that route. They agreed to come as a duo, and I booked them for an hour, less than the typical 1.5 hour minimum. Our wedding ended up starting more than 30 minutes late, but Cynthia and Michelle played and waited for us, and everyone really enjoyed the music. The late start meant they stayed later than planned. I so appreciated their flexibility! My only regret was that I never met them in person since I was busy getting married. The Altair Trio plays not only exceptional classical, but also classic rock, and even contemporary pop and experimental. They have a vast repertoire of music and talent, as they are super well trained and experienced. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the music and had a great time.

A very mixed review…read more.. On the one hand, it was a pleasure to work with Carlos and the band who played at our wedding. They were willing to take requests and transcribe them for the band to play. They made a medly for us to use as a first dance that worked out perfectly. Their musicianship was good and they got the party going. Unfortunately, on the other hand...at the end of the party, the band leader, Carlos, totally lost his professionalism. Thinking he'd not been paid (though he had been earlier in the week) he went on a rampage. He threatened to come and find me to collect his money and raised his voice at my parents. Ultimately, our wedding planner saved the day by writing him a check and he quieted down. It was bizarre, rude, unprofessional, and totally ruined my positive feelings towards our work together. Unfortunately, he also did not choose to apologize when it became clear that he had already received full payment. He sent a generic email the next day to thank us, but did not mention his meltdown. When I asked if perhaps he wanted to apologize for his behavior (at least he should apologize for yelling at my parents) he wrote a meek and lame apology. So...if you are going to work with Hip Affair (or silicon valley vibe which is his larger band) do so at your own risk. In this case, after completing another great event I dropped the ball. As many bandleaders will attest, there are too many incidents where once the party is over, you find yourself looking for host to settle the balance, and then to your surprise, they're nowhere to be found. While this was not the case in this situation, a mistake on my part had me going this familiar routine. Everyone but the event planner and the parents had left and I raised my concern. Tamara is so great. My husband and I originally booked a different music group to play during our…read morewedding cocktail hour, but they were awful and unresponsive. With only 3 weeks to go, and crickets from the original music group, we decided to fire them and scrambled to find someone else. We had contacted Tamara early on when we were booking vendors, so we reached out again on a whim not having much hope. Amazingly, she was free on our date and was incredibly sweet and gracious in her response. We wanted our cocktail hour to feature music from movies, animation, and video games--kind of nerdy. She knocked it out of the park. Her harp playing is still one of the aspects of the wedding that our guests have gushed about the most! It was so fun for them to try to identify the different familiar tunes that she played. Our coordinator also told us that Tamara was the easiest vendor for her to work with. She was communicative, showed up when she was expected, did a great job, and left again without a fuss. Her rates are also very very reasonable compared to other musicians we spoke to. It makes me sad that she doesn't have many reviews on here--Tamara is a gem!

Carolyn is so funny, sharp, charming, and intuitive... in addition, she asked the right questions about what we wanted for our ceremony--and within a night, she already had a framework planned for our ceremony.
