I moved to Bellingham about four years ago, where I'd been a credit union member since 1994. When I…read moregot here, I wanted to support a local credit union and keep my banking in the community, so I joined WECU. Unfortunately, my experience has been incredibly disappointing. Without any notice or explanation, WECU closed my accounts and later told me I'm not allowed to open a new one. No one has contacted me to explain why, or to resolve anything. It went so far that WECU actually contacted my old credit union, and the staff there were so alarmed by what they heard that they personally called me -- asking what was going on, because in decades of experience they had never seen a fellow credit union behave this way. For a member-owned institution that's supposed to stand for fairness, transparency, and community, this experience has felt anything but. I truly hope WECU reconsiders how it treats its members -- especially those of us who chose it because we believe in the credit union philosophy.

She is supposed to be the expert when you hire them to get you through all the loan crap that needs to happen. But she won't advise you, she just barks orders and passes the ball to you. She was wrong about things along the way too but never took responsibility for anything. Instead, takes the time to go back through emails to point out something you said/typed at some point. Again, that's not helpful to anyone! She is very lucky to have Derek Lui in her office! Derek truly saves the day. He is nice, polite, helpful, willing every time you deal with him. I would not recommend Terri at all, to anyone. There are so many other Financial Services places around, shop around and find someone else to help you.

In fact, I hadn't even planned to purchase a home in Bellingham, and was just visiting a friend in town, when I was introduced to Laurie. One thing led to another, and in a day, I was out looking at properties. Laurie is FROM Bellingham, and knows and understands the market there as well as any one person could. This knowledge base is of inestimable value. She showed me properties that fit the very narrow constraints of what I was willing to spend, what I was looking for in terms of an investment, the return I expected to get, etc. In other words, Laurie LISTENED to me. She didn't show me things she THOUGHT might work for me. She showed me properties that fit EXACTLY the parameters I was working in. This is a rare thing today in Real Estate. Agents are often so desperate to close that they'll show properties that have only the most remote connection to what the client has stated they are looking for. Also, Laurie was available to me at virtually all times, and always responded to my calls and e-mails in the most timely of fashions. I have been buying and selling houses for 20 years, and I wish I had met Laurie earlier. Having worked with people across the ability spectrum I can honestly say that I've never had an agent go so far above and beyond the job description as she did in helping me find the property that was exactly right for me. To call her tireless would be an understatement. And.. I got the impression she had plenty left in the tank.
