This is about the parking, not the train station or train service. My son parked there during a trip over Thanksgiving week and when we returned to the lot to drop him off on Sunday 12/1 the windows of 4-6 cars (including his) had been smashed, glove compartments rifled and things stolen. Parking there is free and had received good reviews for safety when I looked, but sadly our experience was not a good one. read more

I left Cleveland station @ 4:05 am. Now we been seating and waiting on this train to move I guess we close to Toledo station. We been seating here waiting close to an hour if it haven't been an hour yet. I woke up and been up about 40 minutes. No one telling us why we stuck In these woods. Everybody waking up and talking real loud. It's so loud on this train. I hate we they don't have a double decker because you have to seat next to someone and I like to sit by the window. I'm ready for this train to stop at the next station so I can move and be really comfortable. They don't check to see if you have covid or not. They don't give got masks. People coughing. I got sick before riding the Amtrak before. I'm ready to go home. I suppose to make it to the union station at 10:12am. Not looking like it. read more

Pretty basic train station here. It's bigger than the one we have in Detroit but it also serves as a Greyhound bus depot so there's that. The Subway was a life saver. I crushed a six inch sub, a bag of ships and a fountain drink in no time flat. There was some graffiti in the bathroom. That's not even a complaint, mind you. There was some Nazi bs, but it was already dissed multiple times. I don't like Nazis but I like some entertainment while I'm dropping a deuce and there was interesting conversation going on on those stall walls. About the only thing I can complain about was the phone charging station is nowhere near a TV screen and I was trying to watch Stacey Abrams' reply to the Trump SOTU address. Not a lot of plugs there either. That wasn't a problem on a February Tuesday night but I see how it could be if this place was closer to full. I had a layover here of less than an hour and got on my train. Easy peasy. read more

While traveling from New York to Detroit on 12th October, 2022 I lost 2 luggage bags that were checked in at the new york amtrak station. I have my very important documents in the bags. I checked in my bags in New York and was supposed to receive my bags in Detroit which was written on my baggage claim sticker too. But unfortunately, I could not get them because in Detroit they said, they have no system of checking out the bags in Detroit and should have been checked out at Toledo where I was transferred to a bus as part of an amtrak transport. I filed a complaint at Toledo and I have been talking to various places of Amtrak station but I have no clue about my bags and I am very worried. I would appreciate any kind of help. read more

Quick, timely, friendly, comfortable, inexpensive, and altogether a painless experience.

Checked in for a train to DC. At 11 PM, this small station looks like it's been through a rough day. It was dusty and dirty, and had a large puddle of water in the middle of the waiting room - no one seems to be bothered though. A few passengers are on the bench sleeping. This picture of raw Americana at midnight is intoxicating in my sleepy brain. There is a Subway inside this station, and the smell of Subway bread is enticing. It would be a good midnight snack on the way. Out of untimely cancelled flights and bad weather, I may have an opportunity to drink America in Toledo. Here is to us, America and sleepy me. read more

Clean, well-maintained, well-lit, and comfortable. Limited amenities, though they do have a bunch of charging ports for all of your electronic vices and devices. There is a Subway, which isn't open if your train arrives at 4:45, but who really wants to order a 12" sub at 5am? Not exactly a happening part of town, but it is a nice stroll to downtown and a quick walk through railyard and postindustrial ruin to the Middlegrounds Metropark, which is quite charming. read more

Hmmmm just boarded in Toledo. Very excited to take a well needed break between Christmas and New Year to NYC. Chose the train for the experience and the ability for us all to relax together. Regretfully, however that is not to be. Put a bunch of people in a full car. No reserved seats. So I am in the middle by a window and my husband and daughter are someplace behind me. Can someone tell me why they don't do reserved seats???? Hopefully might improve if some people leave???? Before we get to NYC. I'll pray return will be better otherwise Amtrak has just lost my business. Very disappointed somewhere between Toledo and Sandusky. read more

Never took the train before so I figured me and my son will take a train to Cleveland well that was a mistake. They were late to every stop and we were 4 hrs behind to Chicago then that put us way behind to Cleveland what a joke of a system. Then the bathrooms were so disgusting I couldn't imagine someone using them and was wondering if they have ever been cleaned. The employees seemed bothered by questions like we were bothering them with our tough questions. I can't believe how they treated passengers. WOW the people who work on the Lake Shore Limited-Chicago to NYC are absolutely awful with customer service. Rude, rude, rude!!!! Just any little question gets a eye roll followed by pure annoyance from the staff. I do not understand why either because usually the question is understandable like how delayed are we or whatever. The bathroom on the train is probably the most disgusting bathroom I have ever seen. It looks like it has never been cleaned. Trash can so full the trash is spilling on the floor. Just every single part was unpleasant and I would not recommend Amtrak to anyone ever. read more

Amtrak is a good service when it isn't randomly stopping or going backwards. Which is to say it's very rarely a good service. Greyhound is bad too but at least the staff has the ability to operate the vehicle. Do not take Amtrak. read more

Passing through lol. It was cool as a stop to get off an stretch your legs. The break is nice and long.

This has been one of the most frustration transactions when it comes to traveling. Amtrak lacks communication. First the train to Chicago was 4 hours late and the website was not showing proper times and updates. I understand that we can not control the weather, but the staff was rude and short with us all and there was zero compensation. On our way back there was a delay and no information was being updated. Apparently the train was having mechanical issues. We finally board an hour late. Than we get to our second stop and sit for 30-40 minutes to wait for a new conductor and there is zero updates on our eta for the next stops. This lack of information make it very difficult to arrange transportation. Needless to say we will no longer be traveling via amtrak. Best of luck to those that do. read more

The 2 women working in the Toledo Amtrak Station on the Lake Shore Limited-Chicago to NYC was the absolutely worst customer service experience I ever had in my life. I booked a First Class Cabin as I was traveling with my family to NYC to catch a flight overseas. I order a large room and a smaller room for Me, my wife, and 3 kids ages 1-9. I came in an hour before boarding, I came with 4 bags to check in, when I first came in no one was at the counter. Finally after 15minutes I heard someone talking in the back room. I approached them with our tickets and told them I needed to check in the bags and that's where I received the worst attitude I have ever experienced in my life. It was about 2:20AM the lady was literally shouting at me saying that I should have checked in my bags earlier and that the train was going to be there any minute. Mind you the train was scheduled to arrive at 3:15am. I asked her to try her best to check in the bags, she made me weigh every bag and it the bag was half a pound over she would make me open my bag and empty it. Absolutely no slack, I had to lift my bag on the scale and instead of removing the items from the back to reach 50lbs or less she made me take the bag off the scale, guess and see what I should remove and then put the bag back on the scale. Mind you 2 bags were overweight and 2 bags were 10lbs under. She would not let me put the items I removed from the over weight bags into the underweight bags instead I had to carry them in my hand bags along with dealing with 3 kids that now have fell asleep. On top of that as I walked out of the room where I had to weigh my bags she slammed the door behind me yelling to another lady that how she shouldn't even let me on the train. We waiting another 20minutes for the train to show up so why the rush? Not sure what kind of day she had or why I was treated this way, only thing I can think of is that my wife wears an Islamic headscarf. I just want to report to everyone my totally awful experience, I paid around $1400 to get to NYC via AMTRAK and I promise that I will never use the AMTRAK ever again. I could have brooked a flight for the entire family on SPIRIT airlines for under $1000, but thought this would have been a fun thing to do with the family. Saying that the train ride to NYC was very nice, we had excellent customer care and the staff were great in First Class. We had an excellent attendant and the guy in the dining cart was great. Too bad the experience in Toledo messed this trip up for me. Beware if your taking the LAKE SHORE LIMITED and are boarding in Toledo and dare to check in a bag 55minutes before boarding. I am writing this 1 month after this trip that's how really upset I am still. read more
