The Amtrak station in Longview has been my home station for many years, and I've traveled through it countless times. I love the history of the building, and I appreciate that the city has worked to preserve such a beautiful piece of its past. I've always felt safe in the area and have never had any problems while arriving or departing.
Most of the time I don't check luggage, so I haven't had much interaction with the station staff. Unfortunately, my experience during my most recent trip a few months ago was disappointing. I needed to check several bags and, as a person with a disability, I required a little extra assistance. The staff member on duty was rude, unhelpful, and did not provide the assistance I needed. From what I could tell, she was the only employee working at the station, so there was no one else available to ask for help.
Despite this negative experience with customer service, I still appreciate the station itself for its historic charm, convenient location, and the many positive trips I've had over the years. I only hope Amtrak improves its customer service and ensures that passengers with disabilities receive the assistance they deserve. read more
