But I wouldn't recommend traveling by train if you are alone, especially if the travel times are not convenient. I traveled from Tampa to Jacksonville on a Sunday evening. The train arrived about 40 minutes late, and because the station is under construction, everyone was lined up at the platform in Florida heat at that time. Not fun. Not enough seating for everyone at the platform. There are no seat reservations for standard seats on this train. If you are traveling in a group, the porters will make sure you are seated together. But if you are traveling alone, you will be at the mercy of chance, and I lost that gamble during the trip. I spent my journey uncomfortable and stressed out. There is a cafe, but I did not go there. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my work computer at my seat unattended, and I didn't want to have to heft my computer bag and purse all the way to the dining car. Thankfully, I had packed a snack, so that sustained me for the 6+ hour journey. There's wifi, but it was not great, and my phone kept switching to using the 5G. The bathroom was pretty foul. I limited my water consumption to avoid using it, but I could smell it from my seat. We started 40 minutes late, but by the time we got to Jacksonville, we were more than an hour behind schedule. That meant I got to Jacksonville after 11pm, which wasn't great as a single female traveler. My employer is headquartered in Jacksonville, and there's no direct flight from Tampa. But based on my experience, I do not think the train is an option. I will have to drive the next time.

We saw giraffes, rhinos, just to name a few. It's fun to wave at all the people you pass especially the kids. It's also interesting to listen to the details given about the park while riding.

We always catch glimpses of the animals that are on either side of the train's route. You never know what you'll see, but you will see something. We saw zebras, black rhinos, giraffes, ostriches, and more. Sometimes they are close. Most of the time they are far away. The young man or woman narrating the train ride is usually pleasant, with a good sense of humor. This is a fun ride while educating riders about animals! There are a lot of places to sit on the train, but on busy days, it can get full quickly. Times are posted for the next train, so wander around the area or if you're tired, stay here find a fan to stand near - especially when it's hot.

My attendant was great, funny and really personable. I had one issue with a power hungry little twig that walked behind me and was upset at me for going the wrong way but thankfully I never saw that guy again. This station was cool. I think around $50 vs well over $100 to fly. It may take longer than flying but the price difference can make the difference between getting to where you want to go or not. We took the Tampa Black History tour before we came to the train station. Learned that B.B. King, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, use to come through here and cross the street to play at the historic Jackson house. (Pictured...it's in bad shape, but they are hoping to restore it. I had my first Brightline experience and I loved it! The Orlando station in the Terminal C area is…read moremodern, sleek and very clean. I purchased a Premium fare to the Boca station. I love the special seating for Premium riders. It's a comfortable lounge with access to complimentary wine and beer and snacks that you can enjoy while you await the departure time for your train. The Premium part of the train is amazing. I took the 12:30 departure and you then receive two drinks (even cocktails!) and a very nice lunch. My lunch consisted of a chicken and roasted corn pasta salad, a small cucumber and feta salad and caramel cheesecake. (The other selection was an arugula and spinach salad with hummus and veggies, plus a mango cheesecake.) I thought the lunch was very good! There is plenty of room for your carryon luggage in the racks above the seats, the seats are roomy and very comfortable and the staff in this section is friendly and attentive. (Special shout out to Monet!) The only slight issue is the vehicle traffic into and out of the Brightline terminal area. There is only one lane in and one lane out and I experienced heavy traffic that morning entering the station. It took nearly 10 minutes to get from the turn off into the Brightline entrance to the terminal itself as it was bumper to bumper traffic all the way in. Overall though, a great way to get from Orlando to South Florida in a relaxing ride there!
