It was missing screws and was loose. When I called the front desk, she asked if I wanted it fixed!??? Yep. The location is fantastic and you can walk to many restaurants, stores and other activities. We used to live in Grand Junction and decided to try this location instead of the Residence Inn. The room has a quiet heater and the A/C is a little louder but not bad. Hopefully the thermostat stays on the wall. The fridge is very small and no freezer. You have to push the button every 2 hours for cold. There is a microwave and a coffee maker. Very few hangers in the room - they really need more. We purchased more at Target. Our room was very clean. Housekeeping is on request (by 10am) or every 3rd day. The bed is comfortable but the elastic in the fitted sheet and mattress pad cover was worn and super stretchy. Every night it pulled off and folded in on me. After 2 nights I asked for a new fitted sheet and they put one on. It did the same thing and I don't move much at night. So annoying and I couldn't sleep properly when the sheet kept waking me up. Who designs these rooms? I always wonder at the poor decisions. The toilet area is separate and they added a hook to hang the hand towel. Right over the toilet paper so you can drip water on it. There was plenty of wall space on the right side of the sink. The shower shelf is too low so your toiletries stand in water and you have to bend to pick them up. The shower pressure was excellent - one of the best I have seen in a hotel. There is a bar in the lobby that usually has live music on Wednesdays and Fridays. The days were changed during our stay so we missed the music. There is a very small pool, a workout room with treadmills / steppers / free weights and a small business center. Internet via Ethernet was very fast and the enhanced via wi-fi was very good. Staff are friendly and responsive.

This is the hotel for you, and I give it four stars. But if you are a remote worker, who needs to work while you are staying at the hotel, I would give Balanced Rock Inn two stars. The internet works well, but there are very few electrical outlets, and when I put my charging Block in the outlet, it kept falling out. This led me to having to buy a charging strip so I could charge my laptop. Plus there is not a desk, rather a table with a chair. On the brightside, the room was very clean, the air and heat worked great and the bed was very comfortable.

My one caveat would be - bring your appetite. You will be sampling a lot of food (vegetarians note - you will be well taken care of as well!). Rebecca Jones was our guide and really knows the history of many of the buildings we passed as were walking. That was really fun - learned some of the fun (and sometimes slightly scandalous stories of old GJ!) It went from 2-4:30 this afternoon. We met at Main Street Bagels Artisan Bakery & Cafe and sampled a delicious apple pastry while we got organized. Then, we stopped at Bella Balsamic and the Pressed Olive, CO. There, we got a really in-depth introduction to the olive oils and balsamic vinegars they offer. I learned a lot about the polyphenols in good, pure olive oils and the health benefits offered. Next, we we went to MX Tapas Bar Restaurante. We were able to buy margaritas at a special price - but a nice sampling of tapas was included with the tour. Here, as at all places visited, we got really good service with lots of background information about the restaurant and their food. We got to meet the owner, Francisco, and hear how his son helped change the longtime La Bamba restaurant to MX Tapas. After that, we went to Pablo's Pizza and sampled their pesto pizza. As always, it was wonderful! And so good to know about their heavy use of local ingredients and their wacky weekly pizzas! Then - to The Rockslide Brewery and Restaurant, where we met the general manager, sampled beers and were given a beet, cranberry, feta salad and a generous serving of fried salmon (see what I mean about needing an appetite? Our vegetarian had an artichoke dip instead of salmon). We ended up at Gelato Junction - we had samples of interesting flavors (baklava, ube, pumpkin latte, plum, peach etc) and then a cone of our choice. So my brain was happy - all the history. My stomach was happy - all the food. My feet were happy - nice walk in the sun.... This is a fun adventure if you are local or if you are from out of town (a fun thing to do when you have company!). Our hosts were gracious and helped out the waitstaff to ensure the tour moved at a nice - but not rushed - pace. We sampled local restaurant fares and learned about many of the historic buildings on Main Street. I hope they continue to add and change the restaurants they have on the tour. I would recommend this to anyone visiting or anyone new to the area. We were in a group of all adults. I would not bring children on the tour unless they were infants or young adults.

The room was extremely dated, dirty, and most metal trim pieces were rusted. It definitely did not resemble any photos on their website. It did not smell like it was cleaned with hospital grade cleansers as advertised, it smelled old and musty. The walls were bubbled and dirty. Bed covering was stained. Bed linens, pillows, and towels were old and mismatched. Bathroom had a drop ceiling with rusted trim, and there was hair in the shower, which we did NOT use. Air vents and controls were old and air vent was full of cobwebs. All wooden furniture pieces were scratched and the bottom bureau drawer refused to stay closed. I read reviews before and after our stay. I read a review similar to ours and management responded that only some of the rooms have been updated. I've stayed in older hotels that are clean and NOT rusty. Little effort was made to make this room appear livable, and quite frankly the non-updated rooms, if comparable to ours, should not even be used! Being extremely tired, we didn't want the hassle of requesting to switch rooms. In retrospect, we should have. Breakfast offerings were sufficient. At check out, reception asked how our stay was. I replied "it was ok". She did not respond and just said I was all set. Bottom line, if you dare to stay at this hotel you need to request an updated (and clean) room!

When the desk clerk finally did bring the coffee over, she rudely demanded my room number and was snarky and lecturing. We are longtime Diamond members, and I have never had such a bad experience at a Hilton hotel. I were you, I'd steer clear. There are other Hilton properties in the area.
