If you are looking for a place with a bed, a microwave and a mini fridge that is close to the Colorado National Monument and in walking distance of a Walgreens pharmacy and a City Market. This is the hotel for you, and I give it four stars. But if you are a remote worker, who needs to work while you are staying at the hotel, I would give Balanced Rock Inn two stars. The internet works well, but there are very few electrical outlets, and when I put my charging Block in the outlet, it kept falling out. This led me to having to buy a charging strip so I could charge my laptop. Plus there is not a desk, rather a table with a chair. On the brightside, the room was very clean, the air and heat worked great and the bed was very comfortable. read more

We have stayed here many times, but this last visit, it seemed the room was not cleaned properly. There was food left over from the last people who stayed in the room before us in the mini refrigerator. The door was very dirty from people touching it and it not being wiped off. Luckily, the sheets were clean and so was the bathroom. The room we had this time was on the first floor on the left. I hope to return as we love staying here. Hopefully our last visit was just a strange occurrence. read more

Wonderful boutique hotel. From the lovely yellow door to the light fixtures, toiletries, and amazing mattress, we were very pleased with our stay. Easy and convenient check in and out, and the lady and her daughter at the front desk were warm, welcoming, and the essence of hospitality. Well done Balanced Rock Inn! read more

Could not recommend more. Exploring around grand junction this past weekend and was looking for something that wouldn't break the bank. Free breakfast (nothing crazy but gets the job done) and the rooms are cute and CLEAN and spacious. If I return to grand junction/Fruita I will be staying here. read more

If you find yourself in Fruita Colorado, stay here. It was nice and quiet and the beds were comfy. What more could you ask for. It's a continental breakfast so don't expect a gourmet meal. And what they had to offer to eat was plenty. read more

Road trippers - come here! The two of us and the pup got in about 5pm and did the virtual check in so we could get into our room right away. It was cute, clean, and had all the amenities we needed after a long road day. The shower has great water pressure and they provide all the essentials. It's not fancy by any means but it's that clean quintessential American inn! After we cleaned up we grabbed the pup and walked a short 8 minutes to downtown and found a local pub and had a great dinner. Just remember to bring your earplugs as the train and A/C units are quite loud but I still slept like a rock. We will be back!! read more

We stayed just one night traveling across the state the owners are an amazing young couple. They seem to cater to the cycling crowd that ride the many trails in the area. They even have a bike wash area so the dirt isn't tracked into the rooms, which are newly remodeled and SPOTLESS!! I would recommend this to anyone. My main regret is we only needed to stay one night. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT AND ADD IT TO YOUR PLACES TO STAY if near Fruita, CO. Arches or Canyon Lands national parks. read more

Our room 20 had a broken bed, my husband and I had to sleep where our feet go. The A/C sounded like a jet plane so we had to just use the fan in June so we were super hot. The continental breakfast provided cereal with your choice of vanilla or chocolate milk. You get what you pay for read more

We stayed at the Balanced Rock Inn for two nights in the heat of summer. I thought the bed and pillows were sufficiently comfortable and exceeded my expectations. The price was also excellent. There are security cameras all over the parking lot and it that put my mind at ease while parking my raft, dirt bike, and other easily stolen items overnight. It's obvious the owner is there every morning with her family taking care of the place. I think it's worth trying a local option over the chain hotels near the highway when you can. Especially since this place has been so recently renovated. My only suggestion is that the towels didn't feel super absorbent. Nothing that will keep me from coming back. Thanks for the great stay. read more

We absolutely loved this inn! We appreciated the special care given to the small details. It feels like a B&B. Extremely clean rooms and dog friendly! The towels were soft and breakfast was yummy. We appreciate the Public Goods bath supplies as we love that brand and use them in our home as well. No key cards & no in person check in made the process streamlined and convenient. Definitely will be our first choice next time we're in Fruita. read more

This stay made me *so happy* from start to finish! START: The Inn sends out a link 48 hours before stay for us to confirm our information. Based on that, they then text you the day of stay with the room number you've been booked into and the code number for the door lock, so no need to check in at the office. MIDDLE: LOVED this room! The setup was VERY CLEAN and roomy: 2 comfy medium-firm queen beds (each with 4 cushy pillows), a work area with full size work table and 2 chairs, a coat-rack style stand to hang clothes (not room to hang a lot of clothes, but fine for a short stay), a huge TV, room fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, huge bathroom, lots of lamps. The amenities were GREAT: FULL-SIZED bottles of liquid hand soap and body lotion in pump dispensers by the sink; full-size pumps of body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the tub/shower (in little metal racks -- don't be a jerk by trying to steal them!); water temp and pressure excellent; plenty of THICK AND FLUFFY towels including an extra washcloth embroidered with "Makeup" for taking off the day's makeup; pillows comfortable with good "loft"; comforter warm and cushy without being too hot. ACCESSIBILITY: We had an ADA room on the ground floor right next to the blue handicapped parking space and curb cut. Grab bars by the toilet and around the tub/shower, big shower bench (the type that extends over the tub wall so you can slide on it over the side of the tub), remote control for the TV of course (DirectTV), and 2 features I've not seen elsewhere: remote control for the room A/C+heating wall unit, and remote control for the window shade, giving FULL accessibility without having to maneuver into small spaces or reach up or over. WOW! FINISH: Since the automatically locking door uses a keypad instead of key or key card, we just pack up and drive away. There's a Walgreens and a Burger King across the street, so we easily got a few sundries to start our day. NOTE: The property is near the highway (didn't hear it a lot until around 9 in the morning, but it is in earshot) and close enough to railroad tracks that we heard occasional train whistles. Pulling down the thick window shade really helped muffle the noise, and the walls were thick enough that we didn't hear other guests at all. Cozy, accessible, CLEAN, well-located. 10/10 [maybe 8-9/10 if you're sensitive to sounds from a train or highway] read more

Amazingly friendly manager and staff! Very comfortable room, easy parking w trailer, walk to town in minutes.

What? They only charge $55 for this awesomeness. Clean, big, convenient. There is even a table and chairs in the room. Okay fine, no fancy lobby or contanental breakfast but after a few days outside playing a big, warm room that is cheap and clean is perfect. read more

I hate to leave a negative report on a clean hotel but the"re are some problems at this place that can't be ignored. # 1 when we walked into the room the smell of cigarettes that was quite strong in the room. #2 the bed felt like we were sleeping on plywood! I travel a lot, this was the worst mattress I've ever had to endure. #3 at 2am in the morning we found ourselves waking to the sound of a Train horn blaring about 7 times right outside the hotel, this continued every 2hrs after that, These are things one should know if your planning on staying here... read more

On our way to Omaha from Southern California we Stayed here because it was the cheapest in the area. Stayed one night. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room had a tv, fridge, microwave and a Keurig coffee machine. Great place to stay! read more

To be fair, the room cost $65 dollars, including a pet fee. A fair bargain. That being said, here are the downfalls... While retrieving luggage from the car we were met by the motel's "repairman" who was looking for room 28. He was drunk as hell and could barely make it up the stairs. We directed him toward room 28 (lucky them) and we continued unloading our stuff. Later, I saw him on the balcony arguing with the occupants of room 28. Again, lucky them. Once in the room we realized that we're right next to the railroad tracks. Not terrible, just a surprise since we arrived after nightfall. The room shook as the train rolled by. The walls are thin... participating in the adjoining room's conversation thin. The pluses? Clean room, comfortable bed, dog-friendly, and not in the ghetto. Also, you can't beat the price with a stick... or a railroad tie. I'd recommend the hotel, even with it's quirks. Hence three stars. What's a vacation without a good story of a wasted repairman accosting your hotel neighbors? read more

This place is great!!! So chill with our dogs. Rooms were super clean and modern. Simple but everything we needed. Beds were comfy and had an outside entrance to our room so we could take the pups out easily. Very, very friendly staff and I love supporting small, local businesses!! read more

Writing this quickly from the room because I'm hitting the road in a minute- Great room. Very nice, independent motel for fifty bucks, when the other option is Super 8, etc. The man at the desk was friendly when I pulled in around 9 and I felt like he actually cared. The room is small and cute. There's a fridge, microwave, AC, and a flatscreen. The bed is very comfortable and I slept well. I'm a little sensitive to scented laundry detergent and had a little trouble, but that's a specific complaint. The wifi is fast. Echoing what everyone else says, a train passes by in the night. It didn't bug me because I wasn't asleep yet. I think it was around 11. Recommended for travelers who want to plunk down someplace for the night in peace and without any surprises. read more

We only slept here one night but it was great. The front desk was polite and the room was clean and comfortable. The train went by but we never really heard it. It was kind of soothing actually. This place is worth every penny. This is a no frills, mtber friendly establishment. My brothers and I were looking for an inexpensive place to stay while we basked in the enjoyment of fruitas amazing mtb trails. The place was clean, a great size, and there was a huge table in the center of a 3 bed room where we sat and enjoyed beers and played board games after a hard day of riding. They did a great job of cleaning the room when we went out for a ride the next morning. There was a train that rolled by in the middle of the night both nights. It did wake me up, but I rolled right over and went back to sleep. If this would bother you, consider earplugs. My brother didn't even hear it as he was fast asleep. I won't bother looking for another place to stay unless this one is booked full. We will be returning. read more

We sat in the parking lot nervous. It's clean. Entirely worth the price. No funny smells. No, it's not a 5 star resort. It's not trying to be. It's a cleaner place with beds better than most of the "resort" places on I-80 that charge 40% more. Best Wifi speed we have had in weeks. read more

Nice spot to lay your head for the night. Quiet, cheaper than most. Didn't stay for the breakfast but I'd stay here again.

I am simply livid. Sitting in a parking lot at 2 Am after driving 13 hours to a "24/7" hotel that I've had a reservation for since this morning. I just wanted a bed but this place has failed to provide the most simple service a hotel should provide : letting customers check in. Nobody's here. Don't advertise 24/7 service if the front desk will be unattended in the early hours. read more

Absolutely perfect!!! Front desk: the man was pretty laidback if you engage in a little amalltalk he become pretty talkative but not too much. Cool dude. Room: Awesome! Flatscreen with working channels, Ac worked perfectly, fridge and microwave modern, bed was extremely comfy, we had 7 pillows . Breakfast included, nothing fancy but good: coffee, tea, OJ, bagels, donuts, packed pastry, nutella, peanut butter and cream cheese. Bath: On point and clean. Many towels, Shampoo, body wash, conditioner and lotion. Shower and bathtub clean and working well. Location: train made choo choo once during the night, if 10 seconds of noise will keep you from having your nights sleep you're not fit for motels in general. Not far from highway. All in all one of the best motels I have been at, would come here again 100% of the time. Thank you! read more

Hands down, the most spotless motel I've ever stayed in. The owners, Josef and Halina couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Some friends and I recently stayed there on a mountain biking weekend and the location is perfect; it's close to downtown and bike shops, great restaurants, there's a Walgreens and a City Market close by and the brand new rec center is a couple blocks away if you want to go for a swim or hang out by the pool. My room had A/C, a microwave and a fridge as well as a much appreciated bike wash in the parking lot. We will definitely be back. Other small motel operator's could take some cues from this place.
