The Arctic station has such a lovely structural design and lights up at night. Quite easy to spot from the distance! It's located right across from the Honda Center. This station is fairly clean and parking is easy to navigate and spacious. Few options of places to grab a snack inside the station. Parking is free but just make sure to fill out the overnight document online if you'll be leaving your car. The Amtrak trains are clean, especially the newer trains and have comfortable seats with trays. When going to SD love taking the train to relax or get some work done. Another bonus is that I get to skip over the traffic! I have encountered time changes and delays on a few trips so be sure to check on the app.

I absolutely love taking the train and find it to be a far more relaxing experience than driving and dealing with traffic! Cars are clean and air conditioning is usually running strong! Decent selection at cafe car and seats are comfortable enough for hours long rides. The jump to business class isn't too much more so if you're traveling more than an hour I personally recommend the upgrade. Business class comes with water/soda and a snack by my last trip to and from I didn't have an attendant come by so this was disappointing. Also wish attendants would address children that were running up and down aisles but other than that, I had a good experience. Power outlets available at each seat but not USB/USC so make sure to bring your base for cables. Curtains available to block out light and headrests have disposable paper sheets for sanitation

Travel from hell. From Chicago to Los Angeles 43 hour was delayed 8 hours. County jail has better food than this train . We paid $2000.00 for privet cabin with its own shower and toilet. I have traveled every where in Europe amazing rides. Amtrak rides are so bouncy and horrible. It felt like you are in a ride in magic mountain, up dawn , let, right... all night could not sleep at all. For the amount of money they charge you can fly first class for 5 hours top. Never again.

More security for this event - OC VIBE than for Trump.

Why even bother? Booked last week and was emailed yesterday evening that there was an EVENT happening so screw the disabled people and make them lug around luggage over wires, cords, curbs, gravel, dirt, boulders to the other side so paying customers don't disturb a party. Absolutely no AMTRAK employee available but plenty of EVENT security. Sad and what an embarrassment for Anaheim. I can see why AMTRAK is losing money. Clueless employees, no announcements, lacking in ADA reasonable accommodations if there is a party at the station.

Three of the last four trips from San Diego to Anaheim have been delayed over 1.5 hours. Completely incompetent and unacceptable.

Well the Amtrak stations might be clean, but the trains are filthy. They smell like urine and poop, which makes the trip so delightful.

Amtrak - Los Angeles to Goleta, California…read more I originally decided to take a trip down memory lane and ride Amtrak from Los Angeles to Goleta, California. It had been years since my last train ride, probably since I was 12 or 13 years old. My first experience was a mixed bag. The ride to Goleta was enjoyable, with beautiful coastal views, a nostalgic atmosphere, and friendly Amtrak employees who provided great customer service. Unfortunately, the return trip was overcrowded, noisy, and included passengers smoking onboard. Despite that disappointing experience, I decided to give Amtrak another chance. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! I genuinely wanted to have a better experience this time around, but somehow things were even worse! Once again, there were people smoking onboard, and I'm not just talking about cigarettes. People were smoking marijuana on the train as well! Absolutely unacceptable! To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a 3-hour trip turned into a ridiculous 5-hour ordeal! Two additional hours of frustration, discomfort, and disappointment. I understand that delays happen, but passengers should not have to deal with people smoking cigarettes and marijuana in an enclosed train while enduring excessive delays. Amtrak has some beautiful routes, and I've encountered some wonderful employees, but none of that makes up for the lack of enforcement of basic passenger rules and the overall experience. I gave Amtrak the benefit of the doubt. I overlooked my first disappointing experience and decided to try again. Unfortunately, that was a mistake I won't be making a third time. Never again, Amtrak! You've officially lost me as a customer!

This train station is known as the "Last of the Great Railway Stations" built in the United States. It is also very convenient instead of making the drive to DTLA sometimes. There is a lot to see and it is right across from the famous Olvera St and LA Chinatown. So many food places to eat and great dim sum! I needed to get from LAX to Irvine on the cheap and looked at my alternatives. After looking at Greyhound and other airport shuttle services in the area, I decided to take the Amtrak that departed from Union Station Los Angeles to Irvine. It was not a short ride by any means, but it was convenient for me to get to where I wanted to go for a decent price. I booked the Amtrak ticket online about 2 days before arriving in Los Angeles. It was a fair price and definitely cheaper than an Uber ride. I was shocked at how much an Uber ride is in Los Angeles compared to the Amtrak. I arrived at Union Station around 6:30am on a Saturday morning in mid September 2026 after getting off a LAX FlyAway bus from LAX. I had time to kill and I walked around Union Station. Felt like a run down building but had its usual modern refinements. Even if its 2026, it felt like being in the 1960's and it's a train depot. With every modern enhancement here and concessions here, it felt like Union station was in a time warp, but we do need trains to get people and goods where they need to be. My time here at Union Station Los Angeles was brief. Even an Amtrak staff member who was driving in a golf cart saw me waiting on the platform told me to take an earlier train instead of waiting, but I decided to wait for my ticketed train anyway (an hour later). Thought that was weird. I walked around Union Station to kill time and when it was time to, I walked back to platform 9 with 15 minutes till departure and boarded the Surfrider train bound for San Diego and getting off at Irvine station. Union Station has limited concessions here but at least there's restrooms and places to sit down to wait for your train out of Los Angeles. The overall experience here at Union Station was typical. It is a waystation for those who are commuting on the Amtrak. It is a nice building for the Amtrak hub for all trains passing thru the Los Angeles corridor. The building is dated but it works for most people who are traveling on Amtrak and the Metrolink on any given casual day. For the most part though, my experience here was good and uneventful. I saw a couple of people talking out loud and could have been homeless. I'm thankful that Union Station is predominately safe and have uniformed security around to make sure that everyone is safe and secured. And so, if you are coming or going inside Los Angeles and want to find alternatives to air travel, consider Amtrak and Union Station Los Angeles for your way out of California and where you want to be. Union Station Los Angeles is located at 800 N Alameda Street in downtown Los Angeles, California. It's a main hub for Amtrak and a gateway to cities north, east, and south of the city. All Amtrak tickets can be purchased at Union Station Amtrak kiosks or online at Amtrak's website in advance. The tickets are fairly cheap, depending on how far you travel. Only thing about train travel is that its fairly slower than air travel, but it can be quite inexpensive compared to air travel too. Just depends on what you want to do and if you have the time for it. Union Station is open to the public, but I'm thinking it can be restrictive if you don't have a ticket and officials can ask you for a ticket if you're just loitering in the building. I'm not sure if there is a parking lot for those who park and take the train, but you'd think there is. I'm just a tourist that took a train here at Union Station. I'm sure there there's a lot of public transportation options in the Los Angeles area to get you to Union Station, if you decide you want to ride the Amtrak. I'm just glad that there are restrooms here at Union Station. It just feels like a big building with a few concessions and restrooms. The rest of it is platforms for the departing and arriving Amtrak trains. Like a large theater or a small airport. Happy travels! 4.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! B

The other added bonus was we could bring our own adult beverages. It's a leisurely ride so cannot be in too much of a hurry. It's about an 11 hour ride and not all of it is pretty. Once you get out of the graffiti and farmland areas it's really nice. Glad we did it and personally I'd get a room if there's a next time. Liked the flexibility of being able to sit or lay down and have our own space. If not a room get there fast and get a spot on the observation lounge. The Coast Starlight is the signature Amtrak ride on the west coast and offers spectacular views of the coast and mountains as you leave California. Some people might say it's a tight fit, it kind of is, but it's not really. Sleeper cars, roomette or actual room, include all meals and will have attendant service throughout. Sleeper cars are deemed first class. Or you can go coach for a lower fare. I recommend splurging on this. Our attendant Chris was very friendly and attentive with us and easy to talk to when needed. Food was really good and it's community seating, so if you're an introvert, be prepared to speak to strangers. Or lock yourself in your room. The viewing car is awesome and offers stunning forward throughout the journey. All in all, we really enjoyed it and want to do it again soon. We may look at other trips in the U.S. or Canada.

The flight for the second group was delayed by a couple of hours. That wasn't a problem for the pickup, because Sunny's checks on flights and arrives at the airport at the appropriate time.
