If you're in Amsterdam and looking for a barbershop to get you cleaned up with a nice fade during…read moreyour travels, I highly recommend booking an appointment at District Barber with Geoffrey. It's easy to book an appointment online through their website. If you have short hair and a beard without a need for any styling/scissors, I recommend selecting the Buzz and Beard Trim (€55,00). You'll also get a heated towel treatment and razor to clean up your beard for a cleaner detail of your facial hair. I'm not sure if it's always available for customers, but I received a 10% discount on my haircut (€49,75) after booking and paying. During my time at District Barber, I had a great chat with Geoffrey, who listened to my request for a fade and to keep my lines natural. He also offered good recommendations for places to visit in and around Amsterdam. Since it was a week since my last haircut from my barber back home, Geoffrey could follow the fade lines from my last haircut without changing my fade/style. Geoffrey was detailed and took his time with the haircut, so expect to be in the chair for about an hour. Before Geoffrey was finished, he applied beard oil and brushed off any remaining hair before allowing me to see the final results. The fade was clean and well-blended. I was very pleased with the fade. Thanks again, Geoffrey! Don't forget to tip your barber for exceptional service. Safe travels!

I thought it a great idea to get a European haircut this trip. Last time was in Kilmore Ireland…read morewith a great Turkish barber. The barber was from Slovakia, in Netherlands about 6 months and happy with the opportunity. Language was no problem. I am and aging American fat, white, bald former hippy with a ponytail - begun withe Pandemic when I stopped going to a barber. We discussed my wife's desire for shorter beard, "like those young guys who look unshaven for a few days." White hair would have made me look either homeless or beardless. He listened to my desire to reduce wild hair over my ears, trimmed the ponytail to reduce split ends and did a fade with my beard and hair. Very impressive creativity. The District Barber is in the middle of the Red Light District and close enough to coffee shops or pubs, but offer water, coffee, beer or wine as you enter. Price isn't bad compared to US salon prices. Enjoy!

SOOOO GOOD. As someone whose parents are from the Caribbean and grew up heavily in Caribbean culture, I was no stranger to the dishes here. And finding out that this place specialized in Caribbean cuisine had me hype. As tempting as the jerk chicken sounded, I went with the spare ribs which was nothing less than fire. Packed with flavor and the right amount of sauce. It paired really well with the coconut rice and pease and the little slaw. the portions were actually perfect too. I didn't feel too stuffed after eating at all so love that for me. Next time i'm in Amsterdam, i'll be back to this spot for sure!

An the waitress was unattentive. I only heard from her one time the entire stay. The saving grave was the amazing tasting chicken because it had a carribean spicy taste to it. But unfortunately the in a city where pancakes and baking is your thing the waffle was lackluster. I would not really recommend this place for that dish at all. There are way better places around the area for pancake like options. Did not impress in the slightest.

The owner asked him to wait. At 2:15pm, my husband asked if he could reschedule the appointment. The owner refused telling my husband: "Don't make your problem my problem!" My husband left. The owner RAN after him in the street and called him a "MOTHERFUCKER" twice holding his hand in the air about to punch him. Note to the owner: you get paid for your time, we do to. Thank you for respecting the time of your customers. You deserve to be at the police station right now. This is so unacceptable!

To make things worse, he was pissed off at his colleague for not arranging a break and/or lunch for him. The atmosphere was tense, they were fighting like little kids, verbal jousting, painful silences. I thought I had good chats with him, and the beard treatment felt alright, but the haircut result was nowhere near the reference picture I brought (easy enough, no?). After I brought this up, he cut off 20cm too much because he was pissed off at having to spend more time on getting it right. I now look like a hipster. I am 37. Upon emailing him after (and asking some money back) - the reply I got was "I'm glad you liked the service" - and some version of "go f%$k yourself". All spelled and phrased like a retarded 14 year old. So no, would not recommend, and will never set foot there again.
