This review is for the I Amsterdam visitor center. This visitor center is located on the far left after walking out of the Centraal Station. Based on their website, there are 3 locations: inside and outside the Centraal Station and inside the Schiphol Airport. But after arriving Amsterdam after a long day of flying, we had to rush to get to our Airbnb. The BF and I left the Centraal station not knowing where the I Amsterdam store was. So we asked a police officer outside the station where it was and he pointed us to the right direction. From a distance you'll see it. It pretty much just looks like a tourist building with full of signs.
Before going to Amsterdam, we knew we were going to get the I Amsterdam city card because we were visiting for more than 4 days. The city card offers so so much for visitors and tourists. Definitely worth it and highly recommended!!
The city card is sold by the days of use, i.e. 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or 4 days. We got the 4 day card since we were staying there for a week. 4 days of exploring the city is actually enough to be honest, anything more than that is a little too long and tiring. BUT there's so much to do in Amsterdam that 4 days is not enough to do EVERYTHING!
The booklet that comes with the card offers so much to do that there's no possible way to do everything in 4 days or in however days! That book is packed with adventures waiting to happen! The city card includes unlimited use of the GVB public transport system (no other companies will work) for the duration of your card. It does NOT include train rides (ie to the Airport or other cities). it also includes free admissions to the Van Gogh Museum, Artis Zoo, NEMO science museum and many many MORE! In addition to that, it offers discounts to other museums and attractions like the Rijks Museum and the Heineken Experience tour. Also discounts to certain restaurants and free stuff as well.
The booklet is double-sided, one side for Amsterdam and the other side for cities to visit OUTSIDE Amsterdam. I really liked this part of the city card because it offers information to explore cities outside the tourist city. There were 5 difference cities that you can visit outside Amsterdam like Harlem and Zaanse Schans for example. We only got the time to visit Zaanse Schans, the city of Windmills and did a bike tour there. Such a beautiful place btw! If we had more time we would've visited the other cities as well.
And the list goes on! Seriously, the I Amsterdam city card offers so much that you're just overwhelmed in what to do. So many options to decide from! Again, high recommend to get this card when visiting Amsterdam. The transportation part of the card will help out a LOT because mostly everything are by trams and buses to get around from one place to another. Unless you want to walk everywhere then that's fine too. Adventures are out there! Happy traveling :)
