Having the canal just outside our front door was delightful. Hearing the church bells and watching the boats glide by is something you want to live again and again. Being able to shop at the local Albert Hejn and cooking a nice meal at home while experiencing the exotic flavors and local ingredients not to mention the cheese made us feel like natives ( at least for a while ). On a final note the apt gives you easy access to Westermarket and the trams.

Combining a prime location with supreme comfort, our delightful residence is just a short walk from all Amsterdam's main sights. Visit the Anne Frank House and the chic Nine Street shopping district with its numerous cafes and boutiques just around the corner, followed by a short walk to the centre of the city with the Royal Palace, Dam Square, Madame Tussauds and China Town. Head to the Museum Quarter and the art galleries in the Jordaan area. Alternatively, take a private boat tour of the canals and return to dine in one of the many excellent restaurants available nearby; just pick and choose what you'd like.

I just got back from a weekend in Amsterdam with a friend, and I must say, staying at Amsterdam Bed…read moreand Boat really made my visit to Amsterdam special. Loes and Wing, the owners of the houseboat, were incredibly generous and accommodating hosts. This is especially true given my circumstances. To give some context, I am being reimbursed for my trip to Amsterdam, but in order to get reimbursed, I needed a signed contract and receipt as proof for my stay. Loes and Wing personally wrote, signed, and printed these for me -- much of it while they were on vacation! If that didn't already cause enough trouble for them, my friend and I arrived into Amsterdam around midnight, yet Loes and Wing graciously stayed up and waited for us to arrive -- greeting us only with smiles and a bottle of wine. Each day for breakfast, Loes and Wing went out to buy fresh bread for our breakfast, served when we wanted it, along with a generous assortment of juice, eggs, meats, cheese, yogurt, granola, and more. When it rained in Amsterdam the first day my friend and I were there, we were even provided with umbrellas to use. I was actually shocked that for the weekend we stayed in this houseboat, it wasn't sold out like nearly all the other boats in Amsterdam. One would think that the 5-star treatment we received as guests (along with a great rate per night) would cause this bed, boat, and breakfast to be permanently booked. Many thanks to Loes and Wing for making our stay absolutely wonderful!

We were treated with wine and a lovely table bouquet on arrival, with this then the amenities began..... excelllent breakfasts with a daily tray of meat, cheese, several breads, jams, orange juice, yogurt, granola and eggs or fruits. Of course, the unforgetable coffee karafe. All this within skipping distance of our daughter also on Levantkade and the trams/buses terminal. We were most appreciative of their kind concern for our wellbeing from umbrellas to boarding passes to directions. These folks are wonderfully personable hosts...truly recommend them and their beautiful houseboat

I was really impressed with this hotel…read more Just a hop, skip and a jump from Centraal Station (ten minutes on the bus), this location is not as remote as you may expect. The city centre is walkable in about half an hour if you know the right directions, and for the money you save in room price you'll be able to stop for a few drinks on the way! My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights, split the cost of rooms so it cost each of us less than 200 euros. Per night, the rate worked out cheaper than some of the hostels in the city centre, and for the quality of the hotel it's quite remarkable. It's clean, quirky and certainly not lacking in personality, which you can tell from the Superman cow statue outside. Inside, the interior ranges from being modern and sophisticated to a bit zany in the rooms - ours had a stripey, 70s style retro carpet and a spacious checkered bathroom that is probably the nicest I've seen in a hotel. They don't call it the art hotel for nothing - our bed was backed with a massive (and terrifying) picture of a little girl. Intimidating, but certainly not lacking in personality! Our room was equipped with kettle, clean, soft, warm towels, chairs and all the other usual amenities such as toileteries that you'll steal but never actually use. I was particularly impressed with the variety of TV channels, from Dutch MTV to various foreign channels to suit tourists from all over Europe. There were a couple of British channels if we urgently needed to keep up to speed on what was happening at home. Downstairs there was a swimming pool, free internet from the PCs on the ground floor and a gorgeous wee bar where you could get breakfast. The security in the place was good - you had to use your swipe card several times to get to the room - and access for wheelchair users was good due to the lifts. It's right outside a bus stop and there was an option to rent mopeds and regular bikes, so you're kept well in transportation links. All in all, loved it and have recommended it to several friends who prefer a comfier choice to hostel living!
