Hotel2Stay offers a practical trade-off for travelers who prioritize budget and transit accessibility over a central "cozy" vibe. Its greatest asset is undoubtedly the location; it is just a short walk from the Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, which serves as a major hub for the rail, metro, bus, and tram lines. Getting into Amsterdam Central is incredibly quick and easy, making this a much more affordable way to get more square footage for your money compared to staying in the heart of the city.
The rooms themselves are decent, though it is worth noting they look a bit more polished in the professional photos than they do in person. We found the layout slightly awkward and had to move the table away from the wall to make it usable, which unfortunately then partially blocked the path to the bathroom and kitchen. Another minor point of concern was the lack of an interior deadbolt or security latch on the door. While we never felt truly unsafe, my partner did feel the need to wedge a chair against the door at night to feel more secure.
Our stay was unfortunately marred by one major issue when the hot water cut out completely during a late-night shower. I had to rinse off soap with freezing water on a cold night, and because the room heating wasn't particularly strong, I actually had to wear my coat afterward just to warm up. While the staff was very apologetic, they were unable to explain or fix the issue at the time. Regarding the local area, it felt generally fine to me as someone used the crazies in NYC, though the hotel does lock the front doors in the evening for security. We did witness some public urination right outside the front doors, which was quite unpleasant and speaks to the "transit hub" nature of the neighborhood.
On the positive side, the hotel offers convenient luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. There is also a small but functional gym on-site that I used a few times, which certainly gets the job done for a quick workout. The free Wi-Fi isn't the fastest I've used, but it was stable enough for me to handle some work. Prospective guests should also be prepared for a 100 euro deposit at check-in; I used my card and it was refunded promptly at checkout, but they do accept cash as well. Ultimately, while it wasn't the smoothest or most luxurious experience, it served its purpose as a functional, affordable base for exploring the city. read more
