The driver did not unload all of our luggage. Once I realized all items were not unloaded, I immediately contacted the on-site Amstar representative at our resort. In the end, I was told the luggage was not on the van and that I gave the driver verbal confirmation that I had all the items. I never spoke with the driver as the concierge handled the exchange, so that was a lie. My husband waited to get in the shuttle until all items were loaded on and saw the driver load the item. In the end, Amstar did not take responsibility for the driver's mishap. read more

I was left in Tulum Mx had to pay for a taxi to take me to the airport. which I almost miss my flight. this svc was prepaid for. they never showed they said i was not there front desk told them that we was waiting and on time .it didn't matter I felt like I got rob. no help at I was left to dispute this with my bank .. I scheduled a round-trip transportation from the airport to Ryu Caribe with Amstar. We were advised as we were exiting the airport to look for someone in a blue flowery shirt holding a sign with our name on it. We did not see anyone holding a sign with her name on it. Finally, we found someone to direct us to the appropriate area. In that area, we still did not see our name on any sign. We however, were helped pretty quickly and transported to the resort. The driver informed us we should be receiving a text message regarding scheduling a pick up time to return to the airport. I am a person who does not keep her phone on her while I'm on vacation. so with that being said as soon as I checked my phone, I responded with the day and time we were scheduled to fly out based off the text message request. I did not hear anything back. So I messaged and tried calling the company multiple times with no luck. The day before our depart I asked the front desk what should I do and they inform me that someone from Amstar would be available in the morning to help me out. I got up that morning and brought our bags down and went straight to talk to them. When I talked to the gentleman, he was very unhelpful and said he was the one texting me, but I missed our window. I should have come to him the following day of arrival to schedule our return shuttle. I informed him I responded to the text message per the drivers information and I wasn't aware that I was supposed to come down. He asked me did I check my email and I said yes after I didnt hear back from anyone. With that being said he was unhelpful and told us we missed our transportation and we would have to find our own ride to the airport. We had to take a taxi which cost $60 when I had already paid for a round-trip shuttle. read more

I used AmStar for shared transit to & from a resort on a recent vacation in Cancun. The vans were on time, clean, and the drivers were professional & friendly. I think the prices were reasonable. They leave a lot of extra time to get to the airport but I guess it's for contingencies. There was a little confusion between hotel staff and getting it booked, but I think that was on the hotel. Next time I'll book them direct on-line, or with their in-hotel folks who were very helpful. I expect to use them next time I'm in Cancun. read more

When I booked my trip to Playa del Carmen I also paid for transportation to and from the airport; Amstar was our transportation provider. I will say that it took a solid 30 minutes after arriving at their stand outside of the airport to finally be put in a car. I didn't realize it was shared transit, and we ended up having to drop two other parties off before getting to our hotel. It definitely extended the drive by about 40 minutes, which I was not a fan of. On the way back, however, we were picked up right on time and only made one brief stop to pick up someone else. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Knowing what I know now I simply would have taken a private cab. They're faster, newer, cleaner, and you don't have to share with anyone! From what I can tell they are also cheaper than what I paid for Amstar. I'm giving 3-stars because we didn't have any major problems and got to where we needed to go. read more

Amstar is the worse transit company. We prepaid for transport months in advance. We expected to have our transport ready when we arrived. Our flight was not delayed. It actually arrived on time. They informed us the van was stuck in traffic after waiting 20 min. And stated it would be another 10 minutes. They ended up taking even longer. We traveled with our 2 kids under 6 and an infant. Sadly, you will most likely have to use these people to get from the Cancún Airport to your hotel/resort as they will be partners with the larger vacation packager (Apple Vacations, etc .... ) that you would have booked your trip through. On our recent holiday, the pickup from the Cancún Airport to our resort (Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancún) was uneventful and woefully devoid of the customary auga and cerveza that is usually found in a cooler across from the driver in the passenger seat. I guess it isn't in the budget anymore, as it was the previous year. Unfortunate, as it was a very hot and humid day. Departing the resort (Hideaway at Royalton Riveria Cancún) to travel to the Cancún Airport was a disaster. The day before we were to leave, I wanted to firm up our transportation arrangements to the airport and sought out our Amstar service rep. He was found on the second floor of the resort, in a shared room with other service reps from various companies. His name was 'Hector' and acted as if I was an inconvenience to him, and I got the impression that he really hated his job. After a short dialog, Hector sent me a confirmation email with Amstar that I was able to pull up on my phone. The next day that we were to leave for the airport we had a 9:30am pickup appointment with Amstar. Our flight departs at 1:25pm. At 9:05am we were at the open air arrival/departure area/lobby with the bellhops of the resort ready to go. At 9:20am a group of 10-12, what appeared to me to be US Midwesterners entered the area. At 9:30am an Amstar van pulls up and a driver and helper disembark the van and start getting these people on the van, my wife and I approach the van with our luggage and were stopped and told this is a 'private van' and could not get on. Ok, so we wait for another van. After about fifteen minutes, with no other van arriving, I head back upstairs to see the Amstar rep Hector. Looking put out, Hector gets on his phone and starts making some calls. After a couple of minutes, I am told that the next Amstar van to arrive at the resort will not be until 11:00am. Hector reminds me that our flight is at 1:25pm and we would never make our plane. Hector tells me I need to get a taxi to go to the airport to make our flight. I asked Hector who is going to pay for the taxi ($65 USD) to the airport and was told I would have to. I told Hector I didn't think that was right, and got an unsympathetic/that's too bad expression. In the taxi, on the way to the airport from the resort, we passed two (2) Amstar vans within less of a mile from the Hideaway at Royalton Riviera Cancún heading to the resorts. This road services several resorts on the coast, not just the Hideaway Royalton. I said to my wife, how difficult would have it been to have gotten one of those vans? Sadly, Amstar is incompetent, inept, apathetic, indifferent and not worth using unless you really, really have to. Avoid using them if at all possible. Less than one (1) star. read more

Juan from Amstar Customer Service reached out after my initial review and was able to offer a 10% discount due to the frustrations we experienced during our trip to Mexico. Please note--when selecting an excursion on the Amstar website, the city where the excursion is located is mentioned in the description. However, the city is not mentioned on the confirmation/booking details. It is important to look-up how far the excursion is from where you are staying before you book. A helpful addition to the website would be adding the travel times (either miles or estimated minutes) to get to the excursion. As many of the other reviews state, people spent much more time than they planned on spending in a van (some without AC and none with wifi/charging) to get to/from the excursions. read more

Extremely horrible experience. I had my booking as part of wedding group to-and-fro CANCUN airport to hotel. At airport, for almost 45 minutes, the person failed to find my reservation and eventually found it as part of one other person who was part of the same private ride. The person refused to let us in on the ride because the 5th person was missing even after we confirmed that the person had arrived early and went along an earlier group and has already reached the hotel. The attendant made us pay for the shuttle and asked us to resolve with the Amstar folks at the hotel. With small kids, had no choice but to take it. At the hotel, the person told that he will talk to supervisor and then issue refund and I should see it in 3-5 days. When I went back on the day I was leaving asking for status, he told me that he was supposedly told that the money I paid was for my return trip from hotel to airport (seriously). It was the most ridiculous thing I heard and I asked why would I pay when I had a reservation (this time they found the return reservation luckily) and that too why I will pay for return trip on my arrival day. He had no response and said he will check again. Nothing happened so far. On my return trip as well, the shuttle didn't arrive for almost 45 minutes after the scheduled time. The attendant kept saying the shuttle is on the way but she cant get hold of driver to get exact time. I was getting worried that I would miss my flight and she said that you can go ahead and get your own taxi and then request for reimbursement (which I know wont happen like my inbound charge) and that the delay isn't anything she can do about because she is not the driver and if I miss the flight, too bad, I should have called the taxi sooner rather than waiting for the shuttle to arrive. It was unimaginable and I can't stress enough to say that Amstar has zero accountability and responsibility and you are better off with anyone in this world other than Amstar. Bottom line, the employees are clueless and lack common sense. It is all black and white for them and look for opportunities to make you pay more where possible. read more

WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! We traveled to the DR for our honeymoon and elected to go on an excursion. We paid using our debit card but immediately realized there may be foreign transaction fees, so we requested a refund on that transaction and paid with our travel credit card. We were assured the refund would be bank in our bank account within 10 days. Here we are THREE MONTHS LATER and still no refund. Amstar refuses to refund because they 'can't find a transaction matching our card number' (they didn't provide us with the refund receipt, just the new receipt). I have disputed with our bank, who Amstar responded to stating this was a VALID transaction. So, we are out 182.22 because Amstar conveniently can't find a transaction linked to my card, EVEN THOUGH I PROVIDED A COPY OF MY BANK AND MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS PROVING THEIR CHARGES. Customer service is a nightmare because they can't answer finance questions, the finance area is unable to be contacted externally, and good luck if you try to dispute transactions with your bank. The minute Amstar says it's a valid transaction, they say there is nothing else that can be done. This company is a SCAM!!! read more

We purchased pickup and drop off service from Montego Bay airport for our vacation last month. Pickup from the airport was fine but they never showed up at the resort a week later to take us back. The rep at the resort told us the driver had already left but would turn around and come back but never did. Horrible experience with these people. I had booked trips with some people at our resort and we were completely blindsided the whole time. My first trip booked with them was horrible. The transportation fee was $30 and should've been included for this trip. When we got there we were charged by the taxi driver $20 because he was never paid. We had no organization of transportation back as we thought we would have. We had to walk back all the way home as we didn't have extra cash besides the $20 and tip for the travel guide. Additionally, we were given the wrong time for the excursion and we were about to not be taken in. We were also told this activity would be three hours long however it was only one hour long. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Cancun Mexico for Valentine's Wkend. The service we got from our pick up from the airport to our tours were outstanding. Rudy the Amstar Representative at Riu Caribe was so awesome. He helped with picking out a time for our Chichen Itza tour, helped with planning our Catamaran Excursion and helped with our hotel to airport transport. The staff at the airport were awesome as well and our driver that transported us to the hotel from the airport and back were also great. Everyone of the staff were pleasant, welcoming and attentive. Just got back from Cancun, booked these guys thru cheapcarribean and they were great! Was worried from other reviews but they did what they needed. Arrived at the airport and they were easy to find in their blue polos and they were all bilingual and nice. We had a small hiccup setting up our departure, we originally had a group transport setup, but they wanted us to leave super early so we asked to upgrade to a private transport. We were told to talk to the customer support directly by our hotel rep, then they told us to talk to him, but after we figured that out we were fine. We paid an extra $26 (on top of the original $37) and setup a private transport, they even arrived early the next morning. All in all I would recommend these guys for airport transport. read more

So this transportation was included with our package we had booked. I have to say the transport from the airport was terrible, pick up went much more smoothly so this averages out to three stars. I will be honest at the airport they tried to up sell us for other tours, we had already booked a tour with another provider. When we finally got out of the arrivals area you've got to wade your way to find these folks. Then we are told to ask for someone named Ruben apparently everyone was told to ask for Ruben. The line to get onto the van was super long, we waited for about 30 minutes in line. Then once we finally got to our van to transport us we still had to wait another 15 minutes. Arrival pick ups is a bit disorganized. Pick up was much more smooth and timely, we had to confirm with their staff stationed at our resort, and the pick up arrived within about 5 minutes of the quoted time. read more

We did the shared transportation which was ok. At the airport we sat and had to wait for others to arrive (maybe 15 mins). Headed back to the airport was longer because he had to pick other people up and sometimes they weren't ready. So if you don't want to wait on other people then maybe do the private option. TIPS: walk straight through and out of the airport don't stop and talk to the scammers inside. Amstar guys are in blue Hawaiian shirts outside. (I wish they had warned us/ told us this before arriving). Also- once you arrive at your location they will hunt you down to "schedule your ride to the airport". This is their way to sit you down and sell tours. If you aren't interested then be ready to book your ride back and then escape before they take an hour of your time. read more

They're SCAMMERS! BE AWARE AND DO NOT LET THEM STEAL YOUR MONEY! My husband and I made a round-trip private van transfer reservation (between hotel and airport) with Amstar Transfer before we came to Cancun for our vacation. When we arrived at the airport, they made us wait for more than 30 minutes despite our scheduled pick-up time and the private van was just a random taxi. Even worse, for the second transfer (from hotel back to airport), they COMPLETELY MESSED UP THE PICK-UP TIME and came early in the morning even though our requested pick-up time was supposed to be in the evening. They refused to pick us at the time we've already requested when we made the reservation; then they LIED to us by saying it will take 2 hours due to roadwork to get to the airport and the only way they can accommodate us would be through a bus even though we paid for private transfer at a later time. They CHARGED US FOR SERVICE THEY DID NOT PROVIDE. Ultimately, we had to call a taxi and it was way more convenient and took less than 30 minutes to get to the airport, not 2 hours and regular taxi was available whenever we needed, NOT LIKE AMSTAR. Avoid Amstar! They're unprofessional and don't care about passengers. There are much better options out there. read more

We stayed at the Riu palace peninsula, we booked three excursions with your service representative Axle the first Excursion we went to Tulum, or so we thought. we raced through every step barely spending a half an hour at each place. we spent all day driving. we spent more time in the van than we did at any excursions. they switch vans on us three times during the Excursion as well cramming all of us in a much smaller van. we brought our concerns back to Axel and told him that we did not want to spend all day driving he suggested other excursions to which we agreed. we chose the dolphin excursion, their driver was a half an hour late which resulted in not only getting complaints from the employees at the aquarium. " telling us you should have been across the Bridge 15 minutes ago"- to which they were incredibly aggravated that they had to go through all the directions once again. we also missed half of the Excursion not being able to go through the aquarium or see any of the activities on the site. we again brought these concerns to axel and all he had was an apology. our next Excursion was an ATV, we were told to drive would only be 40 minutes considering once again we told Axel we did not want to be driving all day. an hour and a half later with no traffic whatsoever, we know what traffic is we're from Chicago, we finally arrived. the excursions themselves were great, but the information that is given by your representatives caused a complete disarray in our schedule for the day we rely on you being in your country to give us proper information so that we can plan our trips properly. that information was not given and when concerns were brought up it was pretty much meant by well I'm sorry. we have spent almost 1500 with you on three excursions and this is the service that we get. we constantly use your company every time that we travel because we trust you, that is to say we used to. this is absolutely absurd that we are treated this way. just because we are on vacation doesn't by any means mean that we are rich we saved for 4 years to be able to do this. this is incredibly unacceptable and I can't believe that you would treat people this way, I feel completely discriminated against for being foreigners and like you guys could absolutely care less. when all these concerns were brought up to excel all he said was he had a gift to offer us I don't want to get you wasted my time you wasted my money I was lied to was somebody that I thought and that I was told that I could trust. this needs to be fixed. read more

Used Amstar airport shuttle for the first time in February. HORRIBLE MISTAKE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!. We arrived at the airport at 6pm. I had decided to try AMSTAR because they are used at my timeshare resort for outings. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!! Amstar at Haven Riviera, Cancun. We are a young couple on our honeymoon that are fresh out of college (aka not super financially stable). We booked an excursion through Amstar that we booked through the Amstar kiosk at our resort. My wife and I both got sick with food poisoning from a tour we took through Amstar. When we needed to cancel our tour; there was never anyone at the resort early enough, no email to contact, and no one answered the number we were given. The helpful front desk at our resort tried to call also, but yet again no answer. So, we couldn't cancel our tour early enough therefore got zero percent of our money back. This hurt us huge and will never consider coming back to the area again. For us we would have liked to return since this is our first vacation ever/honeymoon, but I suppose not. So, the outcome of traveling with Amstar was brutal. We spent hundreds of dollars on nothing since they don't refund even though we got sick from them. I told them our story and still they did not care to refund us a little of the money we rely on to live. This is not an all bad review. The other excursions were well done and easy for us. However, the flexibility and lack of customer service in times of need definitely makes it not worth going through Amstar or any other travel companies. Companies like Amstar need to treat their customers better to continue to grow their potential, but I suppose treating others well is not a part of their business plan. On another note, the transportation are always multiple people vans that pick you up. We had to go to multiple resorts and wait a long time for others to get on board. One stop we waited an extra 30 minutes because someone was late. This pushed our whole schedule back which in my opinion is unacceptable for the price we paid to be treated well. I could keep going on and on but I figured I should get to my recommendation. My recommendation is to always take a few moments to plan your own trip. Do not do anything through these companies. Take time to schedule a taxi and buy a ticket to wherever you desire on your own when you arrive or the day of. This will ensure that the wealthy companies that steal from people like me that don't have much to my name, do not get your money. I am truly heartbroken from this scenario. This was the trip if my life and it got ruined from a poorly managed company. Please everyone who reads this review; try to not give these companies any business. Worst experience. We booked Pacific Diner premier cruise with Gregorio Hernandez. The driver dropped us at a wrong cruise company office who took us on a "Classic" cruise. We had to make multiple international calls, have Gregorio talk to multiple people and go through a lot of stress before boarding the right cruise. Stranded and stolen from thanks to Amstar- and they blame the victims. Booked an excursion via AMSTAR at the hotel. Our bus left at 7am (approx. 3 hours from Chichen Itza). During the morning ride while picking up others at different hotels, the bus had some audible issues and stalled out twice... But, the bus driver kept driving, and eventually we arrived at the site no problem. (note: we were told we could leave our belongings on the bus and we did, and my husbands vaporizer was stolen) When leaving Chichen the bus has starting issues, but we make it to the cenote. After that, we get back to the bus to go home. THE BUS BROKE DOWN. For two hours we were stranded. While we still had a 3 hour return trip ahead of us, and it was now dusk. I was worried because I had medication to take at the same time every day with dinner; which was at the hotel (didn't anticipate being delayed for hours obviously). Trying to get ahold of Pasion (tour operator) and Amstar to rectify the problem was useless. When AMSTAR did respond via email, the rude rep offered us $30 and then effectively blamed for all our misfortunes on the trip ("we're not responsible for stolen property on our bus, too bad the bus broke down it happens, and you should have anticipated this and brought all your medication with you.). Bottom line is that bus should have never taken that trip with the issues it had in the morning- should have cancelled it. We wouldn't have lost our property, time, or endured the anxiety of being stranded. Engaging with AMSTAR afterwards was an insulting joke. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. If everything goes as planned, awesome. But if not, you're screwed, and even when its their fault- they'll blame you. read more

We arrived in Cancun and waited over 1 hour for our driver. We paid for a driver to take us nonstop to our resort. They said no one would take us due to the distance. If that's the case, why offer the nonstop option? We ended up having to get on a bus with several stops. We loaded up in the travel bus and then sat for over 30 minutes while the driver stood outside talking with staff. The bus was packed. No one else could join us. And instead of loading and driving off, they made us wait again. So what should have taken us less than 30 minutes took over 2 hours. And that's not including the drive, which was a mouth 1.5 hours due to stops. read more

I've been using Amstar as our ground transportation to our resort for almost 10 years now. In the past we have always been given an option of three or four pick up times on our return back to the airport. This last trip we were told they would be picking us up for hours early and there were no other options available to us. Are you kidding me? We were the only ones in the van and we were being told it was due to Covid protocols at the airport. However there are no Covid protocols at the airport.There's absolutely no reason to leave four hours early for a 20 minute drive to the airport. I would rather be sitting at my resort then in the airport for three hours. If this is there a new way to operate I will be looking for a new transportation company. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Amstar is a fraudulent company. DO NOT TRUST. They are lying to you about the credits and giving you the "best price." The excursion we booked with them cost us $100 per person and everyone on the boat who booked it on the beach or through other companies spent $60-75 per person. We were ripped off. Also, we booked an excursion to snorkel. Once we were an hour into the boat ride, we were told we would not be able to snorkel due to the rough current. Amstar did not inform us that this was a possibility upon our booking. When we got back to our resort we went to speak with them about a refund because we did not get to snorkel and that's what we paid for. It took HOURS (over the span of 2 days- our last vacation day) for them to deal with our issue. Rodrigo who was "helping" us was the most condescending and despicable person I've ever met. Tried to tell us we were lying about not getting to snorkel! So insulting. Eventually after hours of back and forth bullshit, he offered to give us 50% back of "his own" money which is another straight up lie from this man. My girlfriend and I wanted to celebrate our engagement by going on a boat to snorkel. The excursion we booked was titled "Snorkel Fun" and it included an open bar for those of drinking age and lunch. Side note- Amstar said they offer all these credits to make it cheaper but the credits are meaningless. People we met on the boat booked through Airbnbs, Scuba Caribe, or from people on the beach for $60 whereas we paid $100. When we got to the spot to dive in, the captain of the boat said it was unsafe to snorkel. To avoid people from passing out from heat exhaustion, the captain allowed 15 people to jump in the water at a time for 2 minutes. We obviously wanted at least a partial refund because we were prohibited from doing the whole purpose of the boat. We were told we had to speak with the man we booked the excursion with who was a man named Rodrigo. When we asked for the refund he proceeded to insult and patronize my fiancé and I to the point of tears. He said he didn't believe that we didn't tho snorkeling because the boat sent him a picture of people in the water (15 swimmers and none wearing snorkels). We were finally able to talk to the head of Amstar who gave us half a refund. Even after all of that, the salesperson felt the need to degrade us on the way out by essentially saying "grow up brats." They actually did a pretty good job with our transportation to/from the airport. The only hickup that I really noticed is that they seemed to have a lot of employees that were just standing around doing nothing. I think that if all of the employees were actually doing something then the process would run much smoother. They were on time to pick us up from the hotel to go back to the airport so that was a huge plus. They did plan our tour to Chichen Itza and we were impressed with that. read more

The hotel room, the food at Zen and a few staff members to include waiters and vacation planners did a great job at trying to make up for the HORRIBLE customer engagement and service received by the lone AMSTAR rep they had posted at the resort. We arrived to Hard Rock over 3 hours late due to a bad storm and had to sit on the runway the whole time so we didn't receive the normal meet and greet when we landed in Cabo. The rep that met us on 1 Jun was able to accommodate a ride to Hard Rock Cabo.The next day was the wedding we were there to attend and didn't see the AMSTAR rep at all. The next day my elderly Aunt, myself and my additional family members that were there (10-plus) was told we would have to find our own transportation back to airport because of a missed appointment...he specifically stated he met with me the night I landed and gave me an appointment. I never seen that man a day in my life until I had that conversation. He just straight up lied and said it very loud as to try to embarrass me. Instead of being rude, I asked him for the management number for AMSTAR (which they hung up on me twice) and proceeded to find me and my family members safe transportation to the airport. As a disabled woman of color, I felt highly disrespected and discarded by the AMSTAR Rep and their company. I would highly suggest Hard Rock Cabo not affiliate themselves or allow them to occupy their beautiful space with a company that employs ignorant and rude personnel such as AMSTAR. All of the veteran groups and travel clubs, that me, my family and friends associate with definitely were passed the information about their company. read more

Do not book excursions in advance. 3 out of 3 reservations were incorrect. It took close to an hour for Amstar to correct the reservations. We booked a $290 Pacific Dinner Cruise but was switched to the $89 Sunset Cruise without our knowledge or consent. The driver admitted he knew this when he literally dropped us at the boat dock and left. We have all contacted the resort and Amstar for refunds but have not even got a response from the man in the flowered shirt or the resort who has a partnership and link on their website promoting their business.
