Had a great and very informative tour of Chichen Itza, Valladolid, and the Chichikan cenote nearby. Excellent facilities to visit and fantastic drive, guide, and care by Eddy, Kevin and Ismael. Fun extras were included and gentle, but clear management of our large group by Kevin! I highly recommend booking with this team specifically and with Amigo Tours generally out of Cancun.

Though the temperature was over a whopping 100 degrees, our group of over 20+ absolutely loved their time with Rodrigo and Efraim for the Chichen Itza VIP Tour! They couldn't stop raving about how engaging and knowledgable Rodrigo & Efraim were. Rodrigo & Efraim were so great, our group truly learned so much about the Mayan culture and shared the wealth of knowledge with the rest of our group that couldn't attend! Also, bonus for Rodrigo and his pro-IG pointers for the perfect Chichen Itza photo ops! The Chichen Itza Tour VIP includes: hotel pickup, bilingual guide, a visit to Chichen Itza and Valladolid (a traditional town/rest stop), tequila tasting, an opportunity to swim in a cenote, and lunch. A few notes that caught us off-guard. The payment made to Amigo Tours DOES NOT include entry to Chichen Itza, a life vest rental fee that is required to enter the cenote, drinks purchased during lunch, and tip (optional, but highly encouraged). Expect to bring cash &/or cards! The tequila tasting. I was disappointed with the tiny little shooters they were offering... but wow. So delicious!! I thoroughly enjoyed all the flavors offered (strangely and particularly the corn flavored tequila!) and would recommend buying it on-site, as you won't find it anywhere else!

*Summary and screenshots towards the bottom* I don't like writing bad reviews. In fact, I don't enjoy doing that all. I'm usually the type to give the other party the benefit of the doubt. If you look at my other reviews I've ever made they're generally very positive, BUT after going through what I have with this company I feel the need to warn people to spare you a similar predicament and to give you some insight before you choose to book with Amigo tours which is now proving to be a costly mistake for me. I booked a tour to Chichen Itza for me and my fiancé back in December using Expedia for January 4th. I was under the impression that nothing had been wrong with my order but on January 3rd I was told, as you can see in this chat I had with an Amigos tour employee, that my trip was cancelled. You can very visibly point out which responses were mine and which one were the employee's. Not wanting to miss out on this experience because we had only a limited amount of days in Cancun, I rebooked and again, repaid, for January 5th. Hence, I paid. Again. A second time for two of us, a little over $115. Twice for the same experience. Naively thinking they would be reasonable and issue a refund without me even having to ask, I was later informed by Expedia that Amigo tours had marked me as a "no show" for the 4th and hence, will not, be refunding me. I am extremely confused as to how I was a "no show" when the employee I had been in contact with explicitly said my tour had been cancelled. I am not comprehending how I am being held liable for this (????). I truly do not understand how this was an acceptable response. So again, I reached out to both Amigo tours and Expedia and again, explained the situation with the same screen shots and tonight (January 6th) received a response saying they STILL would NOT refund me all the while acknowledging that the tour, did in fact, get cancelled but now throwing in another baseless claim that I "had the option to rebook" which is laughable at best because I, not once, was ever contacted about a rebooking option. I am still, utterly confused and extremely disappointed in how this whole situation has played out. I will not be refunded because a service was rendered apparently, without me/us being there because again, I was informed it was cancelled. The lack of accountability has truly been astounding. TLDR: (and in conclusion) they will not be refunding me at all for an error on their part and continue to insist I'm in the wrong. Additionally, I have no idea what they're talking about (about that rescheduling stuff). I'll leave these screenshots here and as a consumer, you can decide if it's worth the gamble with your experience. And keep in mind, one person is about $50 something. So all in all I am out about $230 and will not be getting any of it back because I was somehow, some way, supposed to show up for a cancelled tour.

I would highly recommend Amigo Tours for a day trip to Chichen Itza. We booked the tour for 2 adults and an infant via Viator in November 2022. There was no pickup offered from our hotel. However, the pickup point was just 5 mins away from our hotel, which wasn't too bad. The tour company informed us about the pickup 24 hrs before the tour so we could plan well. Our pickup point was at 5:25 AM, and the bus was already there right on time. Once boarded, and after a few more pickups, we were on our way to Chichen Itza. We were the first tour bus to reach Chichen Itza, way before the opening of the gates. Even the vendor stalls were not opened as yet, and this really paid off. We were first ones in the door after the gates opened. We had a local guide who was amazing and walked us through the history of Chichen Itza. His enthusiasm and passion were unbeatable. We spent about 3 hours in Chichen Itza, till we finished the tour the sun was over our head and it was hot and dry. We were glad to have started earlier, which meant we escaped most of the heat and crowds. While we were leaving, the parking lots were filled with vehicles, and the entrance was cramped with people. After the tour, we had a lunch buffet at a nearby restaurant. The buffet started with a welcome from the chief and taste of a local drink. The buffet was pretty good. After the buffet, we went to cenote Selva, a sinkhole filled with water. We had a free tequila tasting at the cenote. The water was so refreshing and a welcome break from the heat. Life vests were mandatory and available at the entrance for purchase. Overall, it was a truly remarkable day, and we had fun. Tip 1: Make sure you reach before the gates open and are among the first ones to enter. The crowds to Chichen Itza is not a joke. By reaching early, you can escape the heat and crowds Tip 2: Wear a sunscreen and keep reapplying. Make sure you carry a sun hat or umbrella and plenty of water Tip 3: If you have infants or toddlers, make sure you get a stroller with sun cover. There is a lot to walk around.

**Avoid This Tour Company** I strongly advise against choosing this tour company. Our experience began well enough with our guide, who went by the name Pastor (though his tag said Guia), starting the day on time and getting us to Chichen Itza before the crowds. Despite the intense heat, being the first group provided the coolest experience possible given the circumstances. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. The bus's air conditioning broke down, leaving 30 adults sweltering in 100°F heat. After a 1-hour drive, we were taken to a gift shop with no air conditioning, which was poorly timed given our hot, sweaty state. At the cenote, Pastor told us it would cost $7 per person for a life jacket and locker, but it was actually $7 for each item. Misleading, but we managed. The cenote itself was enjoyable, especially jumping from the platform. Our next stop was a buffet where drinks were not included. When we sat down, a server asked if we wanted anything to drink. Since we had water in our bags, we asked how much two cold waters would cost first. The server said $1 total, so we ordered it. After finishing our meal, another server demanded $8 for the water. Despite our protests and waiting for Pastor to intervene, he sided with the staff and we were forced to pay the inflated price. The staff produced a drink menu that had never been shown to us before (nowhere to be found on any of the tables in the restaurant) and insisted on the higher charge. Pastor and the staff waited until everyone else had left to talk to us, which made us very uncomfortable in a foreign country. I regret not bringing this dispute back to the tour bus where we would have felt more protected among other tour members. Pastor's lack of support and the suspicious coordination between him and the staff suggested they were all in on the scam. We felt deceived and frustrated. The bus ride back was still without functioning AC, turning it into a moving sauna with a cracked window in the ceiling for minimal ventilation. They finally switched us to a new bus after 2 hours of enduring the heat. For anyone considering this tour, insist on seeing written prices to avoid being overcharged, and be wary of potential scams. This was not the enjoyable experience we had hoped for, and we felt cheated and disappointed. It's about being treated honestly, not the money. We would have tipped for good service, but not for this kind of treatment. Avoid this company and find a more reputable tour provider.

Rated high on trip advisor for a reason. This was a great excursion. Would recommend! We did this excursion on the second day of our trip in Cancun. Booking was easy on Trip Advisor. We chose the option to have them pick us up at our hotel. Being tourists and the meet-up time at 6 am, we did not want to meet up in an unfamiliar location. The day before our trip, they emailed us our confirmation for pick-up. The van arrived on time at 6:25 am with one couple already in the van and we went to pick up another who did not show up. Our van shuttle took us to a bigger bus where we met the rest of the group. There is a preservation tax of ~ $30 USD per person that is preferred to be paid by card before boarding the bus. We board the bus and off we go. We travel for about 1.5 hours before Marco (our tour guide) gets up and starts letting us know how the day is going to go (Valladolid, Chichén Itza, Cenote swim) and also that we crossed into Yucatan Peninsula and gained an hour. He then starts to give a very detailed history of l Chicken Itza and tells us about all the people in this area. We stop to see Valladolid a traditional town in Mexico for about 15 min before heading off to lunch. When we arrive at lunch (about a 15 min bus ride) we were greeted by the Mayan people who hosted the groups for lunch. We do a little shopping in this their store (they accept card) and then we're off to lunch next door. Lunch was some pork tacos and some sides. The food was decent. We board the bus and off to Chichen Itza. This place is a historical landmark and Marco knew a great deal of the history. He knew where to take us to get some of the best photos too. After about 2 hours we board the bus and off to the cenote. Once here Marco explains we will need to buy a life vest (required) and a locker (optional). The cenote is an amazing experience, it's cold at first and then you'll get used to it. There are places for you to jump off or ease your way in with stairs. It's about 150 ft deep so if you can't swim stay near the doc. Marco had the "lifeguard" give us a warning so we could change and get back to our bus to get back to Cancun before dark. The bus dropped us off at the bottom of our resort to save time stopping at 10+ resorts. Would recommend. Don't book anything else on this day. You will be gone all day. Bring snacks too, it can be a long day. Also, a big thank you to our bus driver Philippe. Felt safe the whole trip with him behind the wheel.

This is a whole day tour and we were all pretty tired by the end of it. We paid more to be picked up at our hotel and it's worth it. You don't want to be stuck shuttling when you're tired. It's an early pick up and the drive to Valladolid took about 2.5 hours so we got to nap on the bus. Charter buses are all equipped with AC and a working bathroom. Masks on the whole ride! We drove a little around Valladolid and learned some history but we couldn't get off the bus to walk around because of COVID-19. Since we weren't able to get off, I didn't think it was worth it and we should've just gone straight to the ruins. At Chichen Itza, we met another tour guide who took us around the major points. The heat was sweltering and we tried to stand in shade whenever possible. Bring lots of water and wear sunscreen! At the end, we were a little confused on where to meet our bus and felt lost for a solid 20 minutes. Luckily, we weren't left behind. From Chichen Itza, we had a buffet lunch which included either a coke or bottle of water. Food wasn't bad and it was supposed to be traditional Mayan food. But I noticed flies landing on the food...still ate it though lol The cenote was next and this was such a refreshing way to end the tour. Everyone needs a life jacket and you can rent these along with lockers at the front. There's also tequila tastings! I've never had such delicious tequila before! While you're in the water, the lifeguard announces leaving times for the different tour groups. Everyone knocked out on the bus ride home and we came back with new experiences. While we enjoyed the tour, I didn't feel completely satisfied, which is why I gave 4 stars. The tour guide on the bus was a little annoying and there was all the flies on the food. Little things that added up, and it left me not enjoying the tour 100%.

The phone number i called to let them know about my purse. notice how the second call was only two minutes.

Hello, first off they left us at one stop of along the tour despite having a few minutes left. Before, my aunt asked the staff how much do we have to walk around and he said 30 minutes. When we saw them past us by, my cousin had to chase down the bus and it only stopped because a police officer made them. She told the staff to wait for us as we were only 10 feet away rushing. They said no multiple times. They told her to tell us to get a taxi. Thankfully we are able to communicate in Spanish so we were able to get a taxi quickly. But it is unfortunate since we left some of our belongings on the bus. And according to some other reviews, they have done this to multiple people. Some of those who are aren't Mexican and/or aren't able to communicate in Spanish. Then on our way back, one of the staff named Maricela walked down the aisle with a QR code for everyone/every party to leave a review. But when she came to us, she didn't even offer us the code and walked past us. I wonder why. They also kept quiet when we confronted them. When we left the bus, I noticed I forgot my purse. I called the agency phone number (since the tour guides never gave us their numbers for emergencies)and they said they will contact the bus and they leave me a message. I never received anything. My sister then called but she spoke in Spanish and they gathered more information such as what did the purse look like, who were the tour guides, etc. They did not want to give us the location where they leave the staff or bus since it is "confidential." They then said they will contact the tour guides to check for the purse. After almost an hour, they messaged my sister to say they did not have my purse which is interesting considering I bought something right before boarding the bus on the last stop. We also never made any other stops since then nor did anyone of my group had it. Again there are several reviews such as people losing their wallets and only for the agency to return them with no money in it. I have to now leave cancun without my ID and credit and debit cards. It is very unfortunate and scary that this agency does not have their clients best interests and safety in mind.

    Amigo Tour

Used Amigo Tours for Chichen Itzá day trip with lunch buffet, Cenote and Villadolid. Prepare yourself for a long day, but all worth it. We had Daniel as our tour guide and he was informative throughout the whole drive up. Which made the time go by a little faster. Make sure you pay attention to what the guide is saying regarding return times and locations. You don't want to be left behind! There's a timed schedule they follow and THEY follow it. We had a group that was not accounted for and about 10 mins of awaiting the bus left. The guide does say check your watch and let's you know what the next stop is in case you need to catch up. Chichen Itzá breath taking to SEE!! The tour guide gives you good information and also takes good pics for you. There are vendors on your way in and will try to sell you their items. There was some confusion at the entrance as fees need to be paid. Unfortunately the group needs to make line with the rest of the groups arriving, so it takes a minute. Also it's two separate fees, that's where a lot of people where confused. It was one fee for the entrance (about $35 USA) and one fee for taxes. Each fee is paid as a separate window. Cenote amazing! Must see in person because a picture does not compare. The water is refreshing especially after all the humidity. When you arrive there's a ritual/custom presented but afterwards you walk through a "gift shop" and we are to stay there for about 20 mins before moving on. Lunch Buffet was tasty and it did the job. Drinks are not included but are offered for purchase. Villadolid small town and it's a quick stop. It has shops and a park. The guide tells you it's for pictures only due to the time. And 20 minutes goes by fast so don't wonder too far away. Suggestions for Amigo tours would be to provide water, a snack would be nice too. Also when arriving at the Cenote I would suggest the group be allowed to continue and not have to wait 20 minutes for those shopping, not all of us want to shop. 20 minutes is a good amount of time we can be exploring the Cenote area and not be wasted standing around waiting. Not sure much can be done about the confusion at Chichen Itzá unless both additional fees can be added to the tour price or have a line just for the group.

Absolutely horrible experience…read more I had booked a private transfer from Cancun to Playa Mujeres. I arrived and there was nobody waiting for me. I therefore had to use my phone in Mexico (something I was not planning on doing) to contact the Tour Operator. I was told there was an issue with the reservation getting into their system and to hold on. After about 20 minutes they told me that it would be at least an hour before they could get anyone to me. That they would cancel this trip and issue me a refund and that I could find a Taxi. Obviously I would not use this company to return to the airport and booked with a different company. Now, had this company wanted to even attempt to make things right, they should have informed me to book a taxi, and they would pay for that taxi. The trip I booked via Viator was $118. The Taxi Cost me about $147 for one way and the return trip with a different company was $75. So, essentially this company could have offered to pay for the taxi (they would not have had to pay for the cost of their driver or their transportation). So, for maybe an out of pocket expense to them of under $100 they could have maybe had a little better review. But, I did request and get a refund. The company responded to me, "We apologize, there was indeed an error in the automated system entry; however, we have approved 100% of the refund. We regret the inconvenience and remain at your service. Best regards!" User beware if you are using this company.

Highly recommend bringing towels, bug spray, water proof phone case, snacks and if you choose the Cenotes bring a flash light if you arent a fan of the dark. My friends and I really enjoyed our experience. Everything was organized. We had plenty of time to ourselves to explore and overall we felt really safe. We booked on Trip Advisor to get the price of $170. I'd recommend going through maybe your resort or hotel to see if you can get an additional discount.

Amazing Service + Thrilling Tours = Unforgettable Memories…read more My husband and I planned a last minute vacation 5 day vacation to Cancun the week of 4th of July. The week before leaving to Cancun, I was browsing the Cancun Best Discount website and as I was browsing (which I had already spent about 30 minutes on the website looking at what to choose) Martha contacted me. Martha was wonderful! She asked me what I was interested in doing and provided recommendations. We booked 3 tours with Martha: Tour #1: Whale Shark Adventure Tour #2: Coba Mayan Encounter Tour #3: Selvatica Air Assault Once we were booked, our confirmations were sent to us immediately. When we were in Cancun, Martha called our hotel room to confirm pick up times for our tours. On day 4 we had to change our Selvatica Gimme All tour to the Air Assault tour since we couldn't do an 8 hour tour. Martha was able to change the tour without a problem and refund the difference in tickets immediately! Talk about incredible customer service! All tours were AMAZING! Swimming with whale sharks was incredible! The group was small with about 8 people. We swam with about 20 whale sharks (I swear I am not kidding). Even though my husband and I do not get sea sickness, we did on this trip so make sure to take dremamine. While you are waiting for your turn to go in the water with the whale sharks you sit on the boat and it rocks A LOT! We were lucky to have spotted the whale sharks about 45 minutes into the trip and we were one of the boats to get to the whale sharks so we had a lot of time taking turns to swim with them. If you do this tour, you have to be in good shape since there is current and you have to keep up with the whale sharks - trust me they aren't as slow as they look. After the whale shark swim which was an incredible experience, we set out to eat a ceviche lunch docked at Playa Mujeres was a great relaxation after a day of chasing whale sharks. The Mayan Coba Encounter was great! The tour guide Isreal, zip lining, repelling into a cenote and climbing up Coba was remarkable. Our Mayan buffet lunch was tasty. The Selvatica Air Assault is for the young, adventurous heart. My husband and I were the only ones who chose that tour so we had 4 tour guides all to ourselves! The attention and interaction we had with our guides was so personalized. I could have done without all of the bridges in the tour, but our guides, the bungee and superman zip lines made it all worth it. I have traveled a lot and I must say this has been THE BEST tour and customer service experience EVER!! All of these tours are a MUST DO! I would call Martha and Cancun Best Discounts in a heart beat when vacationing in Cancun again.

Wold have been more appropriate to say even a few words as soon as we drove off from the pick up area so to give us a bit of idea of what we are doing, how long is the drive, what to expect, etc. 3 - there were only 6 of us English speakers vs 30+ (i think) of the Spanish speakers on the bus. Antonio aka Kojak (i think was his name), our tour guide, gathered the English speaking tourists, but passed us to another tour guide from the other bus who had about 20+ people already. Would have been nice to have the guide with only a few people. Good thing, the other guide (Alfonso) did a good job. He knew a lot and was very articulate, and dressed the part.

Xel-Há - Stunning Nature, So-So Food, and Skip the Timeshare…read more Xel-Há is easily one of the more beautiful and enjoyable destinations in the Quintana Roo area. The natural surroundings, cenotes, lazy river, and waterslides offer a full day of adventure and relaxation. If you break down the ticket price by the activities included, it's actually a solid overall value. But let's be clear: this is not a 5-Diamond experience. The food is the biggest letdown. The buffet is nothing special--average at best. The fries, in particular, are almost always cold and soggy, thanks to a heating system that doesn't keep up, even when food is freshly made. It's the kind of food that fills you up but doesn't leave an impression. A few tips to help you make the most of your trip: * Buy tickets online in advance - This helps you skip the lines and sometimes score a small discount. * Avoid visiting during election season - Due to Mexican law, no alcohol is served during this time, even at tourist locations. If part of your plan is to sip a drink by the water, plan around that. * Skip the timeshare presentation - While it might sound like a good deal (free breakfast + discounted or free tickets), it's really just a pitch to buy into a discount program. You're not buying a vacation home--just access to marked-up offers with a "discount" tag. If you do your homework, you can usually find better deals on your own. Bottom line: Go to Xel-Há for the nature and fun activities. Just manage your expectations with the food, and avoid the timeshare trap. It's worth a visit--just not worth believing the hype.

Overall we had a wonderful experience but with major hiccups first they allowed our travel agent to…read morebook a dinner reservation to a restaurant that no longer exist and we didn't find out till check in while verifying all of our reservations secondly one of our two reservations to xoximilco was not in the system we canceled and rebooked and at the end of our trip we were being charged for that first reservation that didn't show on the computer which caused the check out to prolong which made us miss our scheduled reservation bus back to the airport. Then they tried to insinuate that it was our fault that we missed our bus a 5-minute checkout turned into a 30 minute checkout because a f****** on their part. on the drive back from xoximilco, there was a group of about 10 people that were clearly intoxicated, being very disruptive and nothing was done about it. Skip the timeshare presentation they told us that we would get a $400 massage and it turned out to be maybe a $70 massage also they say it's an hour and a half from beginning to end and it took over 2 1/2 hours. The all-inclusive is definitely worth it if you eat a lot and drink a lot which is something we did. on our last night there we went to restaurant that supposedly had the tomahawk steaks come to find out they didn't they had sent their meats to another restaurant so that was very disappointing. Staff is very friendly

We also requested that they simply stop at the hotel on the way to the airport, and they flatly refused to add it as a stop. Despite the hotel being only 7 minutes from the airport, they demanded an additional $65, claiming it was a "new service." This was unreasonable, especially since we were not asking for a separate trip, only a stop along the existing route--not to go to the airport first and then be taken to the hotel. The driver was not the issue at all--drivers are clearly restricted and monitored by GPS. The problem lies entirely with the reservation staff, who were rigid, unhelpful, and unwilling to offer any solution. They even claimed that no manager was available, which is both inexcusable and highly questionable during peak season. This was an overpriced, inflexible, and poorly managed service that added stress to an already difficult travel situation. I would not recommend this company to anyone expecting reasonable customer service or flexibility.
