I cannot say enough positive things about AMS EVENTS. WOW. They helped us with our lighting and DJ at our wedding. Both were exactly what we wanted. Their team is so helpful in making sure you are happy with what you get. We had originally booked a dance floor with them and the week prior they let us know their dance floor was out of commission so they proactively found a dance floor at another local company and book and paid the difference for us. Honestly I was shocked and so beyond thankful with their service. They went above and beyond. Their DJ Edu was a hit as well. He absolutely killed it, he kept the party going and knew how to read the dance floor perfectly. I am a very happy bride! read more

AMS Events was a key partner in bringing to life the wedding day of our dreams. Tad (owner) always listened to our needs, by not just listing rental items on a sheet but asking us what we wanted the ambiance and tone to feel on our special day. We said we wanted it to feel intimate, with all white look and feel to welcome our family and friends. They gave us white raindrop lights over a large oak tree near our sweetheart table, an all-white dance floor and spotlights all over the park to bring the beautiful scenery of the park to life. They also provided our music system and functional lighting for our catering team. AMS Events was a one-stop shop and amazing partner in bringing lighting, music and a dance floor to build an intimate, cozy and beautiful ambiance for our closest family and friends to celebrate the best day of our lives. Thank you AMS Events and Tad! read more

AMS has helped me out on a number of occasions. I've planned a handful of events for my company and looked no further than AMS when it came to booking entertainment. They do it all - face painters, caricaturists, DJs, photo booths, much more. Rather than me having to call around and get quotes for each of these specialty vendors, AMS offered me an all-inclusive package. Their approved vendors are vetted by them and I can confidently say that they were all punctual and professional. The scheduling was easy for me and the pricing was fair. If you are ever in need of local event entertainment, look no further than AMS. They take the headache out of the planning! read more

If you're looking for an amazing DJ, look no further! DJ Flamezz aka Joe was extremely professional and knew how to keep our dance floor alive. DJ Tempest aka Chawn Lemons was amazing for our recent wedding in Goleta, CA! We had two sessions with Chawn over the phone, where he got to know myself and the bride - paying attention to the order of events, song requests and what our goals were for the wedding. At the event, Chawn came prepared with back-up mics and even through a giant wind storm, he kept the dance party going until we shut it down. I would highly recommend working with Ams and/or Chawn in the future. We had a blast and may or may not have been a bit sore from the party dancing so much :) Thanks! -Aaron and Kara read more

DJ Curly worked a friend's wedding a few years back to this day it was one of the funnest weddings I've been to! I knew the moment I got engaged I didn't want anyone else to DJ my wedding and I was not disappointed! The DJ really does set the tone for each event during the night and the flow of the evening could not have been better. I've been to events and clubs when DJ Curly was spinning and I knew he could work easily with my reception style and music taste (90's hip hop and R&B). Curly and I spoke weeks before the wedding so that we could review my music choices and expectations and he was very understanding and also gave some great suggestions which we used! My now husband and I are also gamers and even when I selected unfamiliar ceremony music, Curly was was open to my Spotify playlists and used the exact music I asked for (Final Fantasy VII for anyone that wants to know). My guests still talk about how much fun they had during my reception and that is an awesome feeling. The entire process was smooth and flawless to say the least. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because other services I received from AMS were not as satisfactory. read more

From our first consultation with Tad Clark, to our online DJ platform tutorial with Saul, we were extremely impressed with how AMS' services were executed from day one. The process began by use of an impressive AMS proprietary tool which served as an online music planner. We were able to organize the ceremony music, cocktail reception music, and dinner reception music onto a tabbed interface, where we could highlight "must play" songs, and where we could ban songs via a "no play" list. There was a special place to add special notes and nuances, and even a timeline organizer that allowed us to illustrate our vision of the day to our DJ. THEN THE WEDDING... It was almost like the coming together of kindred spirits... when we met Guy McLaury on the day of our wedding. For some reason... he fit - In attire, style, and musical discretion, Guy was an important feature in the landscape of our wedding. He took time to ensure that he knew how to correctly pronounce the names of each member of our wedding party. He knew what music to play to get people to dance, and he knew what music to play to keep them dancing. When it came time to facilitate important moments such as the father/daughter dance and MOH/BM speeches, his transitions were seamless... and it made the traditional aspects of our wedding flow at just the right pace. Overall, excellent service, an attentive staff, and fist-pumping music. I highly recommend working with these folks! PS - Guy, thank you for not laughing in my face when I told you I wanted to toss my bouquet to Backstreet Boys' Larger Than Life! read more

My wife and I used AMS Entertainment for our wedding in Santa Barbara this past July. It was amazing working with them from the first day until the wedding day. We met with Tad and discussed exactly what we wanted for our wedding. They did the sound at the ceremony and reception, all the lighting at the reception, and provided a DJ. It was great being able to do all of that with AMS. We took a test that would place us with a DJ that would fit us best. We met with our DJ Saul Zevada, and he was extremely professional, fun and perfect for what we wanted. We were able to customize all of our music for the entire ceremony and after meeting with him, he was able to understand exactly what we wanted for our day. I would recommend Saul as a DJ for anyone to use for their wedding. He was professional, spoke only when it was necessary, he kept the party going and really was a great DJ. He had great advice as far as how to get everyone up and dancing and played music good for everyone. He was extremely respectful and great for the younger crowd and the "older" crowd. He made the night go extremely smooth. He kept with all the music that we wanted and we danced all night! The lighting was great, and everything was set up on time and absolutely no problems. We had paper lanterns and string lighting and it looked great. We also used up lighting. I would recommend using AMS Entertainment and Saul as a DJ to anyone! read more

We used AMS to help us with our wedding at the MOXI Museum in Santa Barbara. Tad was amazing to work with and provided the best possible service at a great value. Tad was able to do things for us that most other companies could not and anytime we had an issue or needed to trouble shoot, he found a way to make what we want happen. We were so lucky to have his help along the way since we felt like we could always count on him. He listened to what our needs were and only recommended things that would actually be beneficial. He has great experience at most venues around SB and we were able to just rely on him to tell us what he thought would work best without feeling like he was overselling us. I highly recommend working with Tad and AMS events - they will take great care of you and will provide good value along the way! read more

Tad's team of professionals helped our wedding on multiple fronts. We purchased a package that included lighting, music, day of coordination, and a photo booth (which in my opinion every party and wedding should have!) The lighting was well done and they went as far as to purchase lanterns in our wedding colors! Our DJ, Guy, was a hit. He worked on our music with us and the sound system for the park. Everything went off without a hitch even with him having to constantly watch the volume because of park regulations. Our coordinators Rachel and Haley were working with us well ahead of time and kept up excellent lanes of communication. On the actual wedding day they were supremely attentive to us and our various needs while working nonstop behind the scenes. Absolutely AMAZING people! Last but not least, the photo booth. It was central to themes of our wedding and also we used the strips for our guest book, so people could take pictures with props provided and then insert/sign the guest book. It makes for a much more fun and personal guest book - and wedding. The line for the booth never died down! As bride and groom, we took advantage of cutting privileges! ;-) We now we have a ton more pictures that take us back to our amazing day. The AMS crew is highly recommended. read more

They provided lighting and DJ services at our wedding. They did a terrific job leading up to the wedding with intimate knowledge of the venue, including the sound rules, and he flow of the wedding. They said that the DJ has the control of the flow of the reception and they were correct. People were dancing the whole night till we left and the DJ stuck to the music we liked and even when people stopped dancing they would change mid song just to keep people from leaving the dance floor. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great and memorable wedding. Ask for DJ Matt! read more

I will begin by saying that my husband and I would not have had the most AMAZING and WONDERFUL memories of our wedding day if not for AMS Entertainment. When we were planning our wedding, we decided that we would save some money and just do the ipod dock idea. My uncle had some speakers and we were going to make the playlists for everything. As the wedding day approached, the idea of how to blend songs for the ceremony (we didn't do the traditional songs), what songs to play during the cocktail hour, how to do the music on the upper part of the property where the ceremony and cocktail hour were and then the music on the lower part of the property where the reception was all became VERY overwhelming. My uncle kept asking us for our playlists and my mind kept freezing when trying to think of not only the name of the song, but also the artist and then what version and yada yada yada. Two weeks before our wedding, I panicked and did an internet search in the Santa Barbara are for wedding DJ's. I came across the AMS advertisment for DJ's and called them. I left a message saying that I was getting married in 2 weeks and wanted to know if they could possibly fit me into their schedule. THEY DID! They were amazing! Tad (the incredibly nice owner) gave me my login info to their site. my husband and I then scrolled through the thousands of songs available to be played at the different times during our day...stress free and so easy! We flew into town a week later and Tad met me at the estate we were getting married out. He did a walk thru with me and said not to worry, everything would be perfect. Our DJ called me 2 nights before the wedding to just go over the little details of a wedding and showed up early in the day to set up the 2 speaker sets. He became our wedding coordinator...transitions were flawless, he was amazingly fun, but not obnoxious, and EVERYONE danced until we couldn't dance anymore. Our wedding was SOOOO much fun. Looking back there are a few things that I'm absolutely positive I would spend the money on again...the DJ, the taxi's and the DJ again. It was really that great! Thank you AMS...couldn't have been more lucky to have you on that overwhelming day 2 weeks before our wedding! read more

I used AMS for my wedding at Firestone Winery August 2012. They took care of the audio, dj services and the photo booth. My DJ was DJ Sal. He was amazing!!! He followed directions to a t. He had a great understanding of what we wanted and carried things through flawlessly. The only time there was a hic up was because we didn't provide a song to him, but he found it by memory and no one knew the difference. During the ceremony we used the mic that the pastor could wear. The sound was very clear. They also worked well with the video team that was able to hook up to their audio. We had music in 4 different locations at the winery which worked out seamlessly. Furthermore, Sal kept the party lively but didn't go overboard. He was very professional. I would highly recommend him because the dance floor was always packed. AMS was slow getting the photo booth photos to me. When they did finally post them on line, the photo booth attendant was on her phone in the photo booth in the pictures. That was the only frustrating part of the experience. However over all I was really happy with the DJ and will fondly look back on the great party that he was a part of :) Thank you Sal! read more

I rented sound equipment, lighting, and a photo booth from AMS. AMS was easy to work with and I loved the way my wedding turned out. We've had several good experiences with AMS. Our last party went off thanks to AMS! Their setup was timely and they sized the equipment right for each situation. We found they listened to our requests and then incorporated them into the evening. I guess the thing that separated them from other DJ services was their willingness to handle a wide variety of requests, from music to photo booth to a cotton candy machine! AMS is fantastic. Our wedding at Girsh Park couldn't have gone smoother from an entertainment and audio visual experience. We were assigned Alex Graf for our wedding at the SB Zoo. We decided to do lapel mics for the ceremony instead of a mic on a stand, and although he says beforehand that the sound quality isn't as good as a mic on a stand, we had no issues (I just had to make sure to speak up so I could be picked up on the hubby's mic. AMS did our wedding on September 1st at Eling Park and exceeded our expectations on every little detail possible. Haley was our day of cordinator and she was just amazing. Everyone was saying that it was the most unique wedding they've ever been to and I agree. With the tea lights that ran through the trees, it really was everything would could want and more. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at AMS for all of their support and follow-through. We had a great experience with AMS entertainment. Saul Zevada was the DJ at our wedding and he was profesisonal, courteous, helpful, and took a lot of the stress off by handling most situations that came up "behind the scenes." It was important for us to be matched with a DJ who had experience working with diverse types of couples - and Saul was great. My husband and I used AMS based off a friend's recommendation for our wedding in Carpinteria in September. We could not be more thrilled with the professionalism of this company. We met with Tad at their office and off the bat we knew this was going to be an amazing experience. He made us feel so welcome, comfortable, and at ease with the entire process. Once we decided on using AMS they had a great online planner that allowed us to structure our wedding the way we wanted it. They would give us as much or little advice and help as we wanted. After filling out a questionnaire AMS placed us with a DJ they felt would fit with our vision and personalities. They were spot on with selecting DJ Guy. DJ Guy was absolutely incredible. After meeting with him we felt he knew exactly what to play and what to do at our wedding. We gave him a lot of freedom with song choices and every song from before the ceremony to the last dance was perfect. He felt the mood and energy of our guests and played to that. We had a great experience with AMS! My husband and I had enlisted the help of AMS for string lighting, uplighting a barn and sound/music at our wedding ceremony and reception. From the beginning, AMS made it clear their clients are a priority. We initially spoke with AMS and gave a high level overview of what we were looking for at our wedding and discussed our general time frame. From there, they gave us timely and reasonable pricing and were always available to answer questions. It's important to note that AMS's services became more affordable the more you added on, and we added fancier lighting a month out. So we would recommend bundling their services together as they were more affordable than other companies out there. The biggest priority was to have INDESTRUCTIBLE sound during the ceremony. By that I mean that you could ALWAYS hear the ceremony from anywhere in the vineyard ceremony stage and that there were backup mics in place in case of a sound problem. We all know how bad sound is memorable at weddings! Luckily, they delivered as promised and the ceremony was great. The success of that sound was largely due to their stellar DJ recommendation in Brad. At first, we were paired with a different DJ that was unresponsive to our e-mails and we had a few issues with the music selection website. AMS reached out and informed us that the DJ chosen was no longer working with them and that they had another DJ in mind for our wedding. Brad was very hands on and detail oriented in regards to our strict sound needs for the ceremony and as well with our reception and music choices. We provided him a list of "do not plays" with a list of a few "must plays", which he honored. He also was able to play music that kept our guests engaged, like salsa, and has a gift for reading the crowd. We trusted Brad with his own best judgement as a DJ to keep the guests engaged and it worked! Overall, AMS and Brad were a hit and their professionalism was very worth it! read more

We hired AMS for my daughters Bat Mitzvah. They installed and monitored the PA system for the morning service and provided DJ services, lighting and a photo booth for the party at our house that same evening. The production crew had us all set up for the event. No stress at all! The lighting was amazing. We had up-lighting, black lights (special order) and string lights. We hated to see the string lights leave our patio after the weekend festivities. Our DJ for the event was Robbie. He met our daughter ahead of the event and we worked out a time line and her music choices. He had 60 tweens dancing all night. Just a really nice guy too! The photo booth was a huge hit as well. Our attendant was super nice and she kept the booth spitting out pictures all evening. Thank you Tad, Haley and your amazing production crew. Tad and Trina are very easy to work with, always respond within a day, and will answer any little question paranoid/anxious brides can think of. Tad was also a wonderful source of information about our venue and the certain regulations we had to abide by. We had our wedding outdoors in a park, and Tad has done hundreds of events there, and he was always willing to share tips and info he has picked up along the way. It really put me at ease knowing we were in good hands with our DJ and lighting. Highly recommend AMS! read more

Hello fellow Yelpers. I am writing this rebuttal in response to Kitty K's 1 star rating of AMS Entertainment... and more specifically me (Gabe Amparan). Let me preface this with stating I have been djing for over 7 years and have never once had such negative feedback from a guest. I have a feeling there was an obvious miscommunication and I was completely unaware that she thought I was acting rude to her. Regardless, as a professional DJ my main purpose is to ensure the bride and groom have an evening full of magic and memories and not one full of managing their guests requests which go against what they as the bride and groom envision for their special day. Most people who are not in the industry or who have never hired a professional DJ do not understand the process behind an event, nor do they necessarily understand why I as a DJ may do certain things during the evening. But everything I do has been carefully planned out and comes directly from the pre-event discussions I have with the client. Prior to any wedding or event I am a part of, I have a scheduled meeting to discuss what the couple envisions for their wedding day and ask them questions about the tempo and feel they wish to maintain throughout the cocktail hour and dinner service and the subsequent transition into the more upbeat dancing time which carries on until the end of the evening. When meeting with the soon to be bride and groom, they wanted me to play some classic 70s mellower songs Journey, Clapton, Eagles, Kansas etc. and mix in some more current mellow songs by artists like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Bruno Mars, Buble etc. So, this is exactly what I did on the day of the wedding. Genres they wanted me to stay away from entirely were country, Latin, Big Band and anything with obscenities. They also warned that their intimate group of about 60 guests wasn't much of a dancing group and this indeed proved to be the case. This leads me to my next point regarding me playing the same song twice throughout the evening. I obliged to play the same song a second time because the fun group of friends that worked with the bride at Nordstrom's were the only ones at the time dancing and one of the guys came up and asked to hear a song that I had previously played. I mentioned to him that he already missed the song but he asked if I could play it again so I did. Okay, onto this Kitty. K situation and review..... I am pretty certain Kitty K. was the girl who came up to me right after dinner saying that the music was "effin' depressing" and she wanted it changed. I told her we were on our way to a transition into faster paced music right after toasts, but regardless, I am extremely disheartened that someone would misconstrue this for being rude and impolite. She then asked for a specific song which I did not have and she then demanded I play it and I again told her I would be changing up the mood in a few minutes after the plates were cleared and we had finished toasts, but apparently that was not enough for her. Her cousin (the bride) saw a bit of this exchange and came over and asked me very politely what was going on? But again, as a professional not wanting to bother the two most important people of the evening with such unnecessary and trivial (or what I thought at the time was trivial) events I just told the bride it was nothing and she was just joking around. Problem solved..... or so I thought. :( Now, I see this review and I am beyond disheartened by this Kitty K. going to the internet to blast someone and more importantly an established entertainment brand such as AMS Entertainment. Regardless, everyone is privileged to their freedom of speech and my only wish is that whoever comes across these posts will use fair judgment and realize that their are always two sides to a story. I have since spoken with the bride and I know that she didn't feel the same way about the level of support and effort that I went through to ensure she had a truly memorable day. I have never received a bad review and seeing this one online really left a bad taste in my mouth. Again, I am not certain what "bad attitude I carried from the beginning of the day" that she refers to as that was my one and only interaction with her. Again, please know that we at AMS strive for perfection and being cordial to all guests. Thank you for your consideration and for reading this disappointed DJ's rebuttal to a single guest's opinions. God bless freedom of speech. ;) read more

My husband and I used AMS for our wedding in August. Although we loved working with AMS logistically, we were quite disappointed with our DJ. The planning and logistical support that AMS offers is fantastic. Their system is easy to use and they were organized and professional throughout the process. Unfortunately on the day of our event the DJ was not as good an experience. In particular, we were disappointed that our DJ did not take more of a lead with the event flow (although we had specifically put on our planning form that we wanted a moderately involved DJ). There were times when the DJ was asked multiple times to move the event along. Additionally, during specific portions of the event (i.e. father daughter dance, the Hora) the DJ did not organize people well, leaving these situations awkward and uncomfortable. Further, he played a number of music genres that we asked him to limit. Finally, we had specifically written down the names of our family members for our grand entrance because both our mothers kept their maiden names when they married. Nonetheless, the DJ did not get everyone's names correct, a major faux pau for important members of the wedding party. Although our guests assured us that the DJ did not ruin the evening, it was noticeable to attendees that he did not do a very good job. I am disappointed that I have to write this kind of review for AMS. We enjoyed working with Tad and his staff up until our event. However, the quality of DJ service we received was not the kind of high quality we were expecting. read more

My husband and I used AMS Entertainment for our Santa Barbara wedding in July 2014. AMS was wonderful and easy to work with from day one up through the wedding day and I would highly recommend them to anyone! Early in the process, we met with Tad and discussed our music likes, dislikes and how we envisioned our wedding going. After our meeting, Tad paired us up with DJ Brad Vickers, who was extremely professional, fun and exactly what we were looking for. We were able to customize our music for the entire ceremony online and then got a chance to talk to Brad on the phone (we live out of town so meeting up was difficult for us). Talking with him was great because he was able to get to know us and we got to know him. He also got a feel for what we wanted our wedding day to sound like. Brad was easy going, gave helpful suggestions and most important, he kept the party going and the crowd dancing all night. The night went extremely smooth and it's because Brad did such a wonderful job as our DJ. We would highly recommend AMS and Brad for any event you are planning! read more
