The chicken was juicy and delicious in the velvety smooth creamy curry. I also loved the zesty salad and the luxuriously creamy and flavorful daal. My husband had the Yellow Crab Curry ($22.99). It contained a very generous portion of lumped crab and the curry was smooth and creamy as well. The curry came with rice and we had the option of ordering additional naan, if needed. The restaurant was very quiet for lunch and service was very attentive by the waiter and the Maître d' The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a nice amount of seating, especially for large events. The waiter advised me the restaurant served about 300 people for their Mother's Day brunch! I thought that was amazing. I also thought I couldn't imagine how difficult it would have been to go to the bathroom during such an event. The women's room had two stalls (and the accessible stall had a diaper changing table), but only one sink! Luckily that was not a concern during our lunch visit. Heads up, the wait staff will ask if you'd like a paper bag to carry out any leftovers, and they are $0.10/bag due to the bag tax.

For entrees one got the chicken vindaloo. He loves heat, but this dish overwhelmed him. Along with his sputtering, his checks had a nice rosy red glow. Our crab curry was a nice change. I don't see crab on alot of Indian restaurant menus. It was blue crab, albeit from Louisiana. Tasted fine though. Our other dishes were butter chicken, and chicken tikka marsala. Both were fine, but most Indian restaurants have that down. We got good service, enjoyed the ambience, and recommend you give it a try.

Getting into this lot is a bit tricky or at least it was for me since I was not familiar with this location. I had only been to the Silver Spring location. There is parking. My food was not spicy as I had requested. There are different levels and since it was my first time, I chose the almost spiciest level. It could have been hotter for me. I ended up having to add my own pepper at home! The flavors were good. the portion size was fair. I won't say it was the best Thai I've had. I would possibly give them another try, but won't go out of my way.

I made an online order through their website and got the pad see-ew (beef-mild) $14.95, pad Thai (chicken-mild) $14.95, and the mango red curry (chicken-medium) $15.95. - The pad see-ew was really good and is easily in the top 2 for best pad see-ew I've had. - The pad Thai was a new experience for me as it was my first EVER experience trying it but it was just alright (thought it would've been better). Also the chicken portions were significantly less than I expected. - The mango red curry was a dish I had HIGH expectations for but it fell flat. The "mango curry" taste and flavor were underwhelming even with the addition of the mango peices. Overall, this spot has some pretty decent Thai. The pad see-ew is THE highlight and the other 2 dishes could've been better. If you're in the area searching for Thai then this is a solid spot for your Thai cravings.

Put your order in at the counter and shop while they make your food- it's so efficient! My go to order: -Combination koobideh: 1 beef kebab and 1 chicken kebab served over a bed of saffron rice and sides of lavash bread, grilled tomatoes, onion, butter and sumac. This feeds me and my husband for two meals- so worth it! -Hummus: they have the best hummus in Rockville!! Garlicky, smooth, and dare I say, luxurious. You HAVE to try it! -Shirazi: refreshing cucumber, tomato, and onion salad with I think dried mint and lemon. So simple but so good. I could eat a whole container of this with hummus and rice. -Fried eggplant dip: this is fabulous too, and tastes so unique with the whey ingredient. You just have to believe me and try it. The dry mint makes it taste like tea leaves and so fragrant. -Their sandwiches are fantastic too and remind me of Vietnamese banh mi with the pickles, deli meat, and fresh herbs. We like the Kalbas sandwich- garlic mortadella with pistachio! The market is my go to place for dried chickpeas, olives, walnuts, Barbary bread, Persian cucumbers, feta, Persian yogurt, local eggs (Poolesville), fresh and dried herbs, olive oil, and so much more! I cannot get the same quality elsewhere, and I appreciate their careful and thoughtful sourcing. They also make fresh cookies in house- my fave is the cookie mix that has like 5 different cookies. The staff is extremely friendly and kind, and the place is super well organized and clean. It's always so calming and enjoyable to shop there. And they are a local business that has been around for a long time and clearly a beloved pillar in the community. Definitely do yourself a favor and check them out!

Zooblah Bamieh syrupy fried pastry is my top favorite. Next is their Saffron Ice cream another favorite. When I got my chicken and beef kabob, the seasonings and temperature was on point. Another favorite is their Shirazi... which is a Persian version of pico. Food is delicious.. Im definitely gonna frequent more.

Actually, I was quite surprised that this restaurant existed because many businesses in this complex looked like those of the industrial sort. Also, there isn't too much foot traffic in these parts. Fortunately, this was a great find for me. It appears that this restaurant is more of a pick up and go sort of spot because I saw only two (maybe) three tables. Fortunately for me (again), there was no one else in the restaurant so I had the place all to myself. Since I was starving, I pretty much ordered the first two appetizers that I saw on the menu, which were the samosas and fish pakoras. Both items were about 20 bucks with tax and tip. While I was not blown away by the food, I thought the meal was delicious and pretty standard. - in other words, I had no complaints. Also, I thought the portions were pretty fair for the price based on my experiences at other Indian spots in the area. Overall, I thought the service was pretty prompt, and the woman who took my order was super friendly and accommodating. Although I probably would not go out of my way to have Indian food here, it's a pretty decent, low-key spot if you live/work/go to the gym in this area. Perhaps, in the near future, I will have an opportunity to try an entree or two.

Though it's sad to know the original owner has passed, it's clear his legacy lives on in the delicious food and warm atmosphere. Taj Caterers is a cozy, little spot, and while it seems like most people grab takeout, the experience is always worth it. The food was flavorful, the place was clean, and the prices are fair. The people behind the counter are friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I'll definitely be coming back!

Focus on the fact that the food is inventive, delicious, fresh, and appealing. Perusing the menu, it is clear this is more of a "fusion" restaurant. Evident by the options such as Szechuan noodles, cauliflower Manchurian and vegetable bliss, burger. I tried the butter bliss craving bowl, which includes a healthy portion of fluffy rice an appetizer, a drink and dessert, all for less than $20. I also sampled the Szechuan chicken and samosas. The Szechuan wings, which came with the bowl were certainly not authentic Indian, or authentic Szechuan, but sort of a blend. Creative, perfectly cooked and very tasty! But the shining star to my meal was definitely the samosas! I've tried these at countless restaurants and I honestly don't believe I've ever tasted better! The only low note was the "naan" which really more like flatbread. Overall I am thrilled to have another excellent dining option in Kensington!!
