The 5 star rating is not specific to this particular location as it reflects my gratitude for the low gas prices and what I think of ARCO gas station in general since my interactions have been limited to just the pump and here's why... I rarely go to a gas station for anything other than to get gas (I know, I'm so unique...so special...so one-of-a-kind) and since I hate using gas station restrooms, unless it's a dying need (yes dying meaning close to calling for an ambulance...nope, not exaggerating), I won't have a bathroom or cashier interaction to influence my rating. And after seeing some of the other reviews, ARCO this decision clearly points in your favor. So my review only covers my experience from stepping out of my car, remembering my pump number, inputting my pump number, paying for my gas at the non-money giving or credit card taking ATM look-a-like machine, pumping the gas and getting back into my car. My mask was on as I walked from the pumps over to the store. An employee was carrying a box inside, his mask was not covering his face but was outside. I walked in and the cashier was not wearing a mask. They also had no problem talking to a customer who wore a mask under their chin. The employee put his mask on properly after doing a couple of things in the store. The cashier had her mask on when I left. It's not a safe environment. read more

Most ghetto gas station in downtown Long Beach. Half the time the pump card readers don't work, the cashiers always say their cash registers are down, and there's always some crackhead asking for money. Go to the Redondo Arco instead. Literally half a mile a way. read more

I came in to the store and waited for the employee to finish with a customer. After he was finished I asked him can I please have a bathroom key. He said we don't have a bathroom. Which is a lie because how is he going to work a 8 hour shift and not have a bathroom. I told him I am 7 months pregnant and I am going to pee myself. He started yelling at me to go to 4th street. Even thought I paid for gas and am a regular customer of ARCO they will not let pregnant women use the bathroom. I will never use ARCO again. read more

For the last few weeks they have had no fuel and the workers have no answers as to when and if the will be selling gas again and when?!

This morning I saw a young woman sitting next to this am/pm with her dog and all of her belongings. She was crying. I asked if I could help her, and she told me that her boyfriend had forced her out of their car that morning, and threw all of her things out after her. She had nowhere to go, no money, no cell phone. The owner of this arco came outside and yelled and cursed at her to get off his property. I was trying to help her figure out a place to stay for the night, and he just decided to be nasty. It takes so little to be kind to someone, especially someone who is clearly in dire straits. Absolutely appalling behavior. You have lost a customer, and I will make sure to tell everyone I know to go to the gas station across the street instead of your establishment. read more

Eh, whatever, it's gas in Belmont Shore, and pickins are slim. You do have to babysit the pump, as the auto pump latches don't exist here. But it's clean, well-lit, and has all the standard snack and amenities you'd expect from am pm. And it's an Arco, so it's cheap (relatively speaking). read more

Love that gas station is close to the ocean. What I love most is that I paid a majority of my gas in dollar bills and then I paid the rest a dollar in change and employee said no worries. That was awesome compared to one of the USA gas stores that said they would not accept change unless it was in rolls. It was a rainy morning when I found out that this gas station did not have a review and I could round up another first. The car needed a tank of gas and Kealoha had noticed that the car's tires needed air. There is a reason that this gas station won our patronage over other stations in the area and I'll get to that. One could say that it was a heavy drizzle outside...it wasn't drizzling sideways or anything but it's the kind of precipitation that makes you squint and does enough damage to your hair that you wonder why you even bothered to blow-dry and style. I ran in and paid the cashier for the gas and handed him a stack of dimes to change into quarters to feed the air compressor outside. He said not to worry ...that the AIR COMPRESSOR IS FREE FOR CUSTOMERS. SCORE! He said that he would turn it on when we pulled up to the machine. Kealoha filled the gas tank and I pulled the car up to the air compressor. The reason I chose this gas station is because you can maneuver and park your car in such a way that you can fill all four tires without having to stop and reposition the car. Kealoha worked with the tires directly, I was in charge of feeding the hose wherever Kealoha needed it. Teamwork is best when dealing with air compressors that are constantly wanting to pull the hose back into itself. Full tank, full tires, and soaking wet. Winning two out of three isn't THAT bad. read more

This station used to be the most dependable station in our area for good price and availability. Within the last few months, it has become one of the most expensive gas stations in the area, with a running average of $0.40 per gallon or more than other Arco stations in the area. It is clear that this once busy station now has more of the appearance of a ghost town as a result. Today they are showing $3.59 per gal for regular unleaded, plus the $0.35 ATM Transaction fee. The majority of other Arco stations are showing a low of $3.05 and and average of $3.15 per gallon for regular unleaded. We cannot understand the reasoning behind this attempt at price gouging and the disservice to this neighborhood. read more

My ATM card was taken by the machine. The attendant told me he could not open and that the owner had just left with the key. I made him get the owner on the phone and he lied to me and told me he was too far away to come down and open the machine. The attendant told me he just left. Now I had to cancel my card, I have no access to cash and won't get another card for ten days. This guy was a jerk on the phone. DO NOT BUY GAS HERE, YOU MAY LOSE YOUR CARD TO! read more

My favorite gas station just turned into a hellhole. They took out the central card station and attached card readers with video feeds. The new readers will only accept debit cards so I now have to go inside the store and purchase more gas than I need, then return after I've filled up to have the transaction amount corrected. Also, there is no way to turn off the sound while pumping he gas so I have to listen to bullcrap television clips while I am at the pump. read more

I have to agree with Naomi B. The guy behind the counter should Definitely NOT be working a Guest Service Position. Last week my wife and I walked in to buy some late night munchies, after looking around we decided to purchase a Cheese Burger, water, gum. The Cashier took it upon his self to Charge us for a Jumbo Hot Dog along with the items we put on the counter. when i questioned him he says " I seen you guys eat the Hot Dog " and he was really pissed off. " My wife and I are in our early 40's We Do not have to Steal $2.00 Hot Dogs. I laughed and told him to Remove the hot Dog from our total cost. He Looked like fire was going to shoot outta his eyes and Once again accused us of eating in side the store. By this time my wife and I are really Offended, and Angry. He finally removes the cost of the Hot Dog then AGAIN says " You shouldn't have ate the Hot Dog" This guy is a real Piece of Work, I pray the next guy has my Patience and holds back from Punching this guy in the face the way i did. read more

I recommend staying away from this facility at all costs. As others have mentioned on this site, the person behind the counter, when I was there it was the manager, is abusive and offensive, in fact, the rudest person that I've ever met at any business. I cannot give hard earned money to a business that treats its customers in a foul manner. If you can't be kind, you should not be in a customer service function. The owners should make a point to correct this situation as it is a big negative in the community. It's important that a business play a positive role in the community and this particular manager is full of anger and hostility. There are other places to get reasonable gas and any app will let you know where, but more importantly, it's important to go to businesses that act kindly toward a customer. read more
