I had signed up for State Farm through the internet.
They quoted me $90 online and then I got a bill for $305 a month later. I called in to cancel my service (State Farm doesn't let you cancel directly, you have to go to an Agent who has no idea about what you were quoted, what you signed up for or when... they just have to handle your cancelation).
Anyway, I called to cancel before my billing cycle because of the insulting Bait & Switch tactics of State Farm and unfortunately they continued to bill me anyway.
This was an unauthorized transaction and actually overdrew my account and prevented me from paying several small bills.
I was furious.
I left work and barged into Amos' office furious about the overdraft fees and unauthorized transaction. They had no idea what happened. They agreed that I canceled my service on time and they were also curious why I was billed again.
So, we called State Farm directly via speaker phone and we were transferred from Colorado, to Texas, to Florida, etc. etc. All over the place but nobody was willing to budge.
We spent nearly 3 hours on the phone for them to deny a refund or even care, for that matter, that they had taken funds from me without my authorization.
It ended that way, State Farm refused and didn't care.
Amos did.
He gave me all of the info I needed to continue to fight this and in the end, my bank was able to use that information to process a complete refund, including the multiple overdraft fees.
I may never work with Amos' again (thanks State Farm) but he is a good man and did the right thing, and that kind of integrity is immeasurable, and hard to find these days. read more
