I've tried Amorino at Rua de Augusta in downtown Lisbon, but when we went shopping in Vasco da Gama shopping center near Oriente, I was surprised to see that they have a kiosk right there, on the ground floor, at the end of the mall away from the station.
Amorino is a rather large chain which started in Paris, with many stores in Europe, as well as outposts in the U.S., in Mexico, Saudi Arabia and S. Korea!
Well, unfortunately I do not live in a city where they have shops, so I have to visit Amorino while traveling. They are known for the rose petal shaped gelato cones. After seeing them online, I've tried making one at home. Needless to say, my pathetic attempts did not look floral, or any nameable thing, at all.
In all honesty, I am a bit disappointed, the gelato rose is not as well crafted as the ones I've seen online. There is an option of adding a macaron on top as well. The staff here are nicer than the downtown location and very helpful with the sampling; you can pick multiple flavors for your cone. Flavor-wise, both the gelato and macaron are delicious, but not great, but that's probably because I like a more intense flavor. read more
