Cozy place with homemade Mexican food. I had the beef fajitas with homemade flour tortillas. All parts of my meal were delicious and my coworkers got the soup of the day and both enjoyed it. Lower your expectations for authentic Mexican food, queso is literally canned nacho cheese. Everything else was hardly edible, very bland and lacking flavor. We got the: pancake plate (pancakes, eggs, bacon and potatoes dices), eggs your way(eggs, potatoes, bacon) rancheros huevos included tortillas your choice and chorizo plate ( chorizo, beans and potatoes) The portions of each plate was plenty and then some. I'm giving this place two starts instead of one because the quality of the food was still good but our order was completely wrong and we were also missing items that we already PAID for. We ordered burritos and chips and queso. The burritos were missing meat in some and we did not get our chips and queso. The girl that took our order in the drive threw must of been new. Stopped here for breakfast. In short I didn't see many options available nearby. The place is in an older building boarder line heading towards run down but I've eaten at some good places with a similar aesthetic. Service was a little slow, at one point the waitress was ok the phone while dropping off food and cashing us out so not the best. I thought they had a good breakfast selection and the star was probably their pancakes. Their pancake plate is pretty classic and my kids enjoyed it. There are not many places to eat in Sweatwater at 4:30pm.... however... Amole's restaurant was open. We took a chance. Since we had been driving many hours, I immediately bolted to the lady's room while my husband found us a table. Bathroom: Dirty. Diluted hand soap (I think it was water). Table: Mostly clean. Chips: Greasy (pass on the chips). Red salsa lacked flavor. Green salsa tasted sour. Why did we continue?!? Dinner: Husband had the Suiza enchiladas with red sauce. He loved them! Licked the plate clean. The meal was served with rice and beans. He loved it all. I had the Amole steak. The peppers and cactus with the skirt streak were all really good. Nicely seasoned. Traveling thru and looking for a place for dinner. Had been a rough day. Found this small place and decided to stop in. SO GLAD WE DID. When you start with fresh great chips and salsa, you know the rest will be good. And it was. Fresh homemade enchiladas with great sauce and cheese. Love this place and will remember it is in Sweetwater Tx when I am going that way. All staff were super friendly and humble when we raved over their establishment. The place was full and people seem happy to be there. The place is an old taco villa from the 80's and the only thing they did was put in more tables. The area where you used to order from is now tables and the isles is now tables .They have managed to squeeze as many tables in as possible in turn crowding everyone. I ordered the Amole special #13. A person would think if it's there special that carries their name it would be special. On top of the tamale, enchilada, beans and rice they throw on a taco. Even the short time from kitchen to the table the taco became part of the dish. No consideration on setting it on the side in a paper wrapper that all the fast chains do because of this issue. The salsa was good but the chips were stale. The busyness may be due to it being Sunday and everything is closed. I will not be back. read more

My husband and I really enjoy the Caldo soup that is offered only on Mondays. It consist of chunks of beef stew meat, cabbage, potatoes, carrots and small pieces of corn on the cob. Served with flour or corn tortillas and rice. Very tasty. read more

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to revise my previous good review. (Rant mode engaged): Apparently, I'm invisible. This is the third and last time I'm going to be ignored here, because I won't be back. Twice, in a virtually empty restaurant, They never even took my to go order, despite having to walk around me to get past while I waited patiently at the kiosk. This time, they at least took my to go order of 2 orders of Caldo, but I had problems getting across that I wanted a single cheese Quesadilla with them for a side (which is listed on the menu as a "side"). That shouild have been a omen of things to come. After paying, and giving a 20% tip, I finally got the Caldo after about 10 minutes (really? They just have to dip it out of a pot into a couple of foam cups!) I stood there like an idiot patiently waiting for the single Quesadilla. After about another 10 minutes they told me that my quesadilla was almost ready, and then the wait staff basically disappeared. I waited another 5 minutes, and I just left. So they basically got a $8 tip for barely any service ($4 for the missing Quesadilla, $4 for the normal 20% tip). I would have understood if they were busy, but for all three times, they only had at max 3 tables in use. This time only two, and one was already done and they left while I was waiting. This was my favorite Mexican restaurant here at one time, I'm sad to see go this way. read more

They were a little rude and even shocked that we were vegetarians. They could barely believe (or stomach the fact that we did not want steak). They were, however, pretty friendly and inquisitive with us as we got the impression many outsiders don't make it to the restaurant. It's a few miles off I-20 so you have to make a bit of an effort to get there. What's cool about it is seeing this old, little town, a ruined drive-in theatre, old shut down diners. The food has always been okay to good, but their policies really make the experience a super downer. Oft times they make you sit in the small anteroom instead of opening up the larger more comfortable room. What is amazingly negative is that they often won't make coffee for the customer, even at dinnertime, because they "have just washed their coffee pot"!! I can hardly believe this reasoning! This has happened not a few times. Sometimes when they do allow patrons in the larger room, they start stacking the chairs up all around you if you happen to be the last table in there. That is extremely rude and certainly makes you feel like you're not welcome. "Come on, finish up, and get out of here, so we can close up this room", that's how it feels. We'll likely never return there. Very sad, because there are so few local restaurants who serve beer and have at least decent food, but these policies are too much. We used to go there frequently, but don't go if you want to feel welcome. read more
