    Coli kottu

I heard lots of good reviews of this restaurant and decided to come here with friends. Location wise i believe this restaurant is close to downtown area of berlin, and also easily accessible via train and bus. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating opportunities. The menu is a mix of srilankan, tamil and indian. I was craving kotu that day, therefore i ordered the coli kotu. Coli kotu is basically chicken breast cut up into pieces and mixed into kotu. I thought the kotu was excellent, right amount of flavor and spice. Overall i had a great experience.

I came in around 1 pm on a Wednesday and no one was available to help - it seemed like there was only one waitstaff. The restaurant was mostly empty with only one large table in the back and 2 tables outside occupied. There was no English menu. I wanted to order a chai tea but my translating app didn't find one on the menu. I ended up trying the sweet lassi, which was not as tart as I expected it, but light and pleasant. I've never tried a dosa before (here, it's call dosia) and I loved the masala dosia I ordered! The shell was like a well-done crêpe, crispy and light without breaking apart too easily. I tried the dosa by itself at first and it was dry, but the curry on the side helps balance it out and improve the flavor. I also ordered the saag paneer (called kyrei cheese karri), which came with basmati rice and a side salad. It was a good amount of food but the curry was unexpectedly sour. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant - order the masala dosia and a sweet lassi to go with it.

ammAmma is a great restaurant if you're looking for excellent Indian food. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is great. However, grab a beer instead of mineral water since they charge 4.9 Euros for a large bottle to satisfy two people. I'd definitely come back here. I had the #157 chicken curry dish.

Loved this place, I ordered take out and got the lamb masala. Absolutely delicious. The inside is quite lovely, I imagine it would be a wonderful intimate setting for a couple or small group. They brought me delicious chai tea with milk and honey while I waited, extra points for that! This is only the second Indian place I've ever been to that does that. And I love chai :) definitely worth a stop if you're looking for good Indian food in the area!

We ordered a masala, paneer and chicken dosa. The food was well made but not amongst the best I've had. The host was friendly and helpful and the only reason why I'd go back. The dosas themselves were tasty but the sambar wasn't my type. The ambience is nice and somewhat quiet. Though I didn't like the Hindi music in the background. My biggest gripe with the place was the lack of backrest on the seats.

I was yelping through all kinda indian restaurant in Berlin to find a new one to try this Sunday. As I never really tried south Indian / Tamilian dishes we decided to check ammAmma out . As reading about the interior not being that special I was not surprised entering the restaurant however the very kind and welcoming waiter automatically made us feel happy and excited about our evening ahead of us. We ordered some drinks and decided to share a mix of different starters . The waiter was really good regarding allergies and my special vegan and GF request. In the end we had the Paruppu lentil soup, a mix vege fried platter and the Bonda fired potato balls . As my main I ordered the Kyrei Tofu Karri which was absolutely divine, its like the Indian saag paneer just an amazing vegan alternative with the tofu option win win for myself as I just to love the paneer cheese one during my non vegan days. My mum ordered the Masala Dosai which could have been easily shared between two as we did not expect this size. My dad and brother went for non veggie/vegan choices the vaththu Jaffna karri and mutton chilli and both said it was extremely tasty, full of flavor and perfectly cooked. If I would live in the area I defo would have found my new fave Indian take away by tonight, well one never know incase I move back this could influence my house hunting! So if you looking for an tasty and good prized Indian treat check them out and you wont be let down for sure!

An absolutely outstanding Pakistani restaurant…read more Everything on our table was completely outstanding. But I am going to talk about one and only one dish. The Tandoori Duck. * * * We don't usually do Tandoori duck in the U.S., Although exceptions undoubtedly exist. Germany has the advantage of having excellent ducks Which we don't And having duck being very plentiful on the market. The contrast is that goat, which is common on American Indian-Pakistani menus, almost never shows up on such menus here. Here, you also get mutton. So Duck and Mutton are the two "dark meats" that substitute for goat in Berlin. * * * In a tandoori, Duck is absolutely positively amazing. Triple that if you are dealing with a superior duck with a nice lining of fat over the breast bone. * * * Add to that the fact that the tandoori I have had in Berlin has generally been superior no matter where I get it. The tandoori of my youth tended to be a dry affair with red color meat pure and simple. It was cooked enough to get hot. Otherwise it was nothing special - and it was dry to boot. This is not the tandoori of my youth. All of the tandoori I have been served here in Berlin has had outstanding sauces. The Berlin tandoori also has had vegetables tossed in with the meat. The veggies are cooked to al dente perfection and are bursting with flavor. Is this because Berlin tandoori is better than American tandoori? Or is this because tandoori cooking has gotten better than the grim dishes I used to eat thirty years ago? I don't have an answer to that question. * * * Either way, Put a perfect duck into a tandoori over. Add the perfect sauce. Add vegetables cut at the right size to al dente. You die and go to heaven. But mostly the thrills are the duck, the duck, the duck and then the duck. My wife's food was good, and the other Yelpers say the food is good. So you can't go wrong ordering whatever you like. I still say: Get the Tandoori Duck.

We were sat in the back of the restaurant which is fine but we were next to a speaker that was too loud :( I ordered butter chicken (my fav) and my boyfriend picked a random menu item so I'm not sure what it was. The chicken was.... Not great :( the butter chicken sauce was really good but I was not at all interested in eating the chicken as it had a weird taste and texture. They have happy hour on all weekdays where cocktails are 5€ which is a good deal. We didn't take advantage of the deal but might not be a bad call. I don't know if we'd go back but maybe I wouldn't get the chicken.

Food: We had two lamb dishes from the main menu which were both brilliantly cooked. Spicy with tender meet and a runny sauce. The paneer pakora was sublime, as was the butter bread we ordered. The lunch menu looks fantastic too, it's dirt cheap, even by Berlin standards. The decor: A little bare bones perhaps but unremarkable is the worst you could say about it. The staff: All the staff were great, very friendly and warm. After our dinner, when we asked for the cheque, it came with a couple of nightcaps which were very much appreciated and a nice touch. Somewhere else I think this would be a 4 star experience (the food isn't setting the world ablaze exactly) but it's good and in Berlin, so if you're a curry fan you should try it.
