I heard it's not usually open a Sunday which I personally think is a mistake. However it's a small quaint little indoor tea rooms only about 6 tables and some comfy chairs, with a little counter at the helm boasting all the gorgeous cakes. There was a lovely glass of fizz for arrival and then continual traditional British triangle sandwiches served throughout the afternoon. The tea was served in Downton Abbey style tea cups and saucers against the back drop Of some very beautiful Laura Ashley wall paper and some impressive chandeliers. The staff where very attentive. And lovely to chat too but also child friendly. Which is a bonus as I had my lite shadow in toe. He was most impressed with the tiers of cakes they brought round. Sized just right for me and him. It was a lovely day and outside they have a little decking terrace with some chair so, tables and umbrellas. Only one little unisex toilet but it was clean, fresh and smelt lovely. All in all I thought it was a lovely afternoon. I will need to go back to give an honest review of the actual tea rooms when it's open to the public. But for a private event on a Sunday. At lunch time if you are looking for something for those ladies of a certain age I do would recommend here.

At 11 am on a Saturday, they weren't too packed and even if they were this place is huge so there is plenty of room to sit down and enjoy! What I ordered: I got a cappuccino and a falafel salad. The cappuccino was huge! The salad was filling and came w hummus, guacamole, and a veggie mix! I loved it! Prices were reasonable for what you get! But now to the rest a teatime should be sacred time with loved once an hour to relax calm down and enjoy good tea and food. We had the queens tea and it comes as a full high tea with scones, sandwiches and sweets. While the service - as already mentioned was great (they switched one set to vegetarian sandwiches) - the sandwiches have not been. The toast was a bit try on the edges and the actual spread and creations have been lackluster to be friendly. The chickpea vegetarian was the best by far. The scones clearly made in house fresh and really good tasting. But they have been more like a bead bun in consistency- but together with the clotted cream very very good. Just not really scones. This tea room also did disappointed me with just serving a tiny glass of industrial made strawberry preserves. They also only serve one "scone" per person and did not offered any more sandwiches or scones. And then finally the "sweets" the Richmond tea room takes that word very very literal. Besides a macaron and a little passionfruit tartlet they served two pieces of cake that have both been tasting like sugar only. While looking ok they just had no taste whatsoever other than just being overly sweet. No fruit flavor or distinctive taste. Since I left mine untouched since they were just not good maybe that why they don't offered more sandwiches or scones. All in all it was just not the teatime I was looking for spending with my husband as quality time we slowed down drinking the tea but we did not really enjoyed the food and that messed up the experience. Sadly. Starting with five stars I'll take one of for the stall sandwiches, another one for uninspired sweets and a third for the jam and overall price / quality relations. Ever since seeing 'Grindsmith' on kickstarter months ago, an uber-cool urban eco-pod of a coffee…read morehouse, I had been eager to venture to Greengate Square to give it a try. I was adamant that given the compact-wooden-pod nature of the place, I should only go in extreme weather conditions in order to make the trip all the more exciting. In beloved but rainy Manchester, blue-skies and sunshine qualifies as extreme conditions. As such, during a sunny June Sunday, I seized the opportunity to sip on a 'Grindsmith' flat white, with sunshine beaming through the open façade (almost entirely made of glass) - I was not disappointed. An excellent decision on my part to go when sunny and excellent brewing skills from Grindsmith as far as kick-ass flat white's are concerned. Grindsmith offers little when it comes to food, there was a very small selection of baked goods but they looked rustic and appealing. I wasn't expecting an extensive food menu, nor was I disappointed by its lack. What is pretty darn cool however, is that Grindsmith stock 'Ginger's Comfort Emporium' ice-cream - absolutely the best ice-cream I have ever tasted! (See my review of the cafe in Affleks palace) Marry this with a Grindsmith espresso and you've got an Affogato sent directly from heaven. £3 well spent I'd say - a delightful weekend treat. Take a walk to Greengate Square. Look, I know the Premiere Inn there is really ugly and a bit of an off-putter, but once inside Grindsmith's coffee haven, you'll forget such an architectural disaster ever happened.
