As far as Mexican food out of Texas, this wasn't half bad. The best part of the meal was honestly the chips and salsa. We came in for a late lunch on a week day so it was not busy at all, but our server still seemed pretty scatter brained for some reason. I split the chicken fajitas with my dad and they were okay; tortillas were fantastic but the chicken and veggies were terribly over seasoned. The rest of our table got enchiladas and the quesadilla and really enjoyed it. Overall not a terrible place to be, but don't think it would be good on a busy night. The bartender was funny and quick to bring menus and our drinks. We ordered Lily's made-to-order guacamole, the veggie quesadilla, and the ground beef tacos. The guacamole was delicious with warm, freshly fried chips, and the ground beef tacos were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Seriously, do yourself a favor and order the ground beef tacos. They're wrapped in a hard shell taco with melted cheese and a flour tortilla --- plus they're drizzled with white queso. Absolute chefs' kiss. We tried the Mexican side of the restaurant after a few previous visits to the Italian side. I'll give 4 stars though more like 3.5 given the wide swing of good and not so good aspects. The environment and layout is well done with both indoor and outdoor seating/bar/TVs. Our server for party of 9 was also a mixed interaction. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable of the menu with recommendations, and responsive when asked. The opportunities were that we had to ask (for silverware and water refilled), and he did not follow up when all but one of the dishes were brought out together. The food offerings were likewise enjoyable or not. The salsa was good - with a homemade, tomato paste taste - with excellent sized and salted chips. Lily's made to order guacamole was delicious. The white queso dip was mild with a slight jalapeño flavor. Margaritas were just ok. Decent taste but little alcohol. Crispy rock shrimp tacos were fair with small sized fried popcorn shrimp. The Mexican rice was a bit on the spicy side. The Refried beans were middle of the road. The 5-star dish and highlight of our visit was the steak rice bowl with cilantro rice add street corn. We have been there before and liked it. This time it was for lunch. The tacos are "street tacos" and are very small compared to a regular sized taco. The drinks have so much ice in them that it waters down the beverage no matter if it is ice tea or margaritas. I paid with tip $150 for lunch which was two lunch sized (child portion) and 4 drinks. Got the 3 stars for the great service and great tasting house margaritas! The tacos were just plain weird, not sure who invented these but they just did not work. Two (plus 2 stacked) corn taco shells, with a very small amount of lettuce and tomato in the bottom, lots of spiced ground beef (which was very good) then it gets strange instead of shredded cheese on top of both tacos they drenched them with queso (see pic). When you picked it up it was just a huge mess, I tried cutting it up (weird to do for hand food) but the corn shells were too hard (not crispy) so they didn't break, I had to "saw" on them with my knife to cut into them. It appears "they" tried to "elevate" the taco but for me failed miserably. Now my wife got a steak quesadilla that was excellent, so a "mixed bag" for Amigos. read more

We tried Amigos for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily there was no wait and we were seated right away! Our server was pretty fast too. As he took our order, chips and salsa came. We ordered the fresh guacamole, and that came right away too. As for the margaritas, I wasn't impressed. We got their Blackberry margarita and Texas smoked margarita. The blackberry tasted like juice, there was barely any alcohol in it. The Texas smoked margarita was a little better but the quantity was pretty small for a $13 drink. For food, we tried their chicken rice bowl with chimichurri rice. It comes with white queso, pico de Gallo, guacamole, and some Mexican creama. The rice bowl was kind of heavy and the grilled chicken in there wasn't fresh. You could tell it was frozen chicken they simply heated up. The chicken lacked flavor. There wasn't much in there either - I used their salsa and hot sauce to add some flavor. I felt very bloated and sick afterward. My husband liked his chicken burrito better. Their prices are higher for a typical Mexican restaurant. For example $17 for my rice bowl, which wasn't all that. As others have mentioned, they charge a 2% entertainment fee to your order as well. For everything below, our bill was $90. See photos. I did appreciate their fast service though. Our food arrived quickly but they really need to work on their food quality and prices. Delicious! We tried Amici last year and it was so good! Decided to mix it up this year and try the sister restaurant and so glad we did! Everything was so good! Had queso and guac along with chicken enchiladas and steak quesadillas and everything was great. We came with our little pup and they treated him like a king! Honestly so sweet. Everyone was amazing.
