As far as Mexican food out of Texas, this wasn't half bad. The best part of the meal was honestly the chips and salsa. We came in for a late lunch on a week day so it was not busy at all, but our server still seemed pretty scatter brained for some reason. I split the chicken fajitas with my dad and they were okay; tortillas were fantastic but the chicken and veggies were terribly over seasoned. The rest of our table got enchiladas and the quesadilla and really enjoyed it. Overall not a terrible place to be, but don't think it would be good on a busy night. We visited Amigos 30A Mexican Kitchen for a late-night dinner, and the food was delicious! We didn't have a reservation, but wanted to watch some basketball game,s so we sat at the bar. The bartender was funny and quick to bring menus and our drinks. We ordered Lily's made-to-order guacamole, the veggie quesadilla, and the ground beef tacos. The guacamole was delicious with warm, freshly fried chips, and the ground beef tacos were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Seriously, do yourself a favor and order the ground beef tacos. They're wrapped in a hard shell taco with melted cheese and a flour tortilla --- plus they're drizzled with white queso. Absolute chefs' kiss. Thought this might be a nice little place. I don't give one star reviews, but this had very little going for it. Let's start with the positive. The inside looked nice. The Drink me and my spouse had were good (summer on 30a and summer tanline). She ordered a burrito and I ordered tacos al pastor. We also thought we ordered street corn (we take that as corn on a cob that is roasted with like tajhin and crema on it) but obviously we ordered what looked canned corn that had a fake roast on it (that for my wife was spread on her burrito). The refried beans are bland the Spanish rice tastes like uncle Ben's with Campbell's tomato soup. The burrito was mediocre at best and my Al pastor had some weird tangy bbq sauce on it. Both my wife and I grew up in families that have Mexican cooks. I know this isn't an authentic Mexican restaurant but you have to at least know how flavors go together when there is flavor. All this for $94. We didn't finish half the food, all our drinks though. Ambience is probably good at night but at 3 o clock in the afternoon it felt like an alley (we ate outside). Also we were sat at the tables the staff used to eat their meals. I noticed none of them had a meal from here or the sister restaurant amici. He recently moved to the area and has completely fallen in love with your company's restaurants and the concept behind them. I have to say, out of the many times we've visited, Kim truly stood out as the highlight. Some people simply have a natural gift for hospitality, and it's clear that she does. Beyond her professionalism, she genuinely seems to enjoy what she does, and that makes all the difference. Got the 3 stars for the great service and great tasting house margaritas! The tacos were just plain weird, not sure who invented these but they just did not work. Two (plus 2 stacked) corn taco shells, with a very small amount of lettuce and tomato in the bottom, lots of spiced ground beef (which was very good) then it gets strange instead of shredded cheese on top of both tacos they drenched them with queso (see pic). When you picked it up it was just a huge mess, I tried cutting it up (weird to do for hand food) but the corn shells were too hard (not crispy) so they didn't break, I had to "saw" on them with my knife to cut into them. It appears "they" tried to "elevate" the taco but for me failed miserably. Now my wife got a steak quesadilla that was excellent, so a "mixed bag" for Amigos. read more

We tried the Mexican side of the restaurant after a few previous visits to the Italian side. I'll give 4 stars though more like 3.5 given the wide swing of good and not so good aspects. The environment and layout is well done with both indoor and outdoor seating/bar/TVs. Our server for party of 9 was also a mixed interaction. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable of the menu with recommendations, and responsive when asked. The opportunities were that we had to ask (for silverware and water refilled), and he did not follow up when all but one of the dishes were brought out together. The food offerings were likewise enjoyable or not. The salsa was good - with a homemade, tomato paste taste - with excellent sized and salted chips. Lily's made to order guacamole was delicious. The white queso dip was mild with a slight jalapeño flavor. Margaritas were just ok. Decent taste but little alcohol. Crispy rock shrimp tacos were fair with small sized fried popcorn shrimp. The Mexican rice was a bit on the spicy side. The Refried beans were middle of the road. The 5-star dish and highlight of our visit was the steak rice bowl with cilantro rice add street corn. The chips and salsa were very well made, but the chips were so salty that others at my table and I would shake them off before eating them. The salsa was, however, super fresh and the chips tasted nice and homemade. The pastor tacos were decent, but they definitely needed a lot more spice to balance out the pineapple. The prices you'll pay do not match the quality of the food. Two of my friends got Carnitas and said it was almost too greasy to even eat. Another got shrimp and said they were ok but not worth 20$+. I was very disappointed with the service during our visit. We asked our server for tortillas, which were my main entrée, and she told us she would bring them in about two minutes. Instead, she spent around 10 minutes talking with other employees while we waited. Since the tortillas were my meal, I couldn't even start eating. By the time they arrived, everyone else was almost finished. The delay and lack of attention made the experience frustrating. Our son's family was giving us a tour of Inlet Beach that included their favorite restaurants. Amigos 30A was one of those favorites. There were 8 of us, but we were seated quickly in the breezeway. It was a little chilly, so we were pleased to see the outdoor heaters close by. Just as quickly as we were seated, Blake P, our server, was at our table. Four adults and 4 kids each found the perfect menu item. I chose Amy's Mexican Chop Salad with Grilled Chicken added. I was so happy with my choice with its mixture of corn, radishes, avocado, cucumber and a homemade Mexican vinaigrette. Happy Hour is from 3-6 every day of the week. We ordered take out during off season albeit a Saturday night. Parking is tough but the pickup was actually worse. We ordered and showed up for the online time to be told it would be 10 minutes.
