We always enjoy our time here at the Amherst Cinema. Very affordable tickets for high quality viewing and sound of failry new movies. Upon walking in you get the perception of that quaint small town atmosphere......Very friendly staff. popcorn is very affordable, and so is the candy....I love the fact that it is very simplistic. and I do not have to take out a loan to enjoy some classic American Movie entertainment.

depends on what, they're playing. (although, i will say that, they're quite, limited regarding their movie choices)

Very inexpensive and always have the new movie! Takes you back to a time before marketing and inflation ruined the movie experience.

I mistakenly purchased a ticket for the wrong theater and only realized the error upon arriving at my intended location. When I asked the staff there for assistance, they told me I would need to drive 30 minutes to the other theater in order to resolve the issue--despite the fact that I was standing in an AMC location and had simply booked the wrong one. I asked if they could call the other theater or help process a refund, and they outright refused. I then attempted to contact the correct theater myself, but by the time I got through, the movie had already started and the online portal no longer allowed refund requests. When I finally reached a manager, I was told there was nothing he could do unless I physically drove to that location and might be eligible for a comp pass. When I asked if the passes could be mailed to me instead, I was told that wasn't possible and that the general manager--who wasn't available--would have to make that decision. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating, inflexible, and frankly unacceptable. As a paying customer, I expected reasonable support for what was an honest mistake, not to be met with roadblocks and indifference at every turn. I am requesting a full refund for the unused ticket and a formal acknowledgment that this situation was mishandled. I should not be forced to jump through hoops or drive long distances to resolve something that could have easily been addressed on-site or over the phone.

I've been to this movie theatre a million times over the years most recently attending movie screening of "Regretting You." AMENITIES: The theatre is multi-floor massive building (escalator available). The theatres have very comfortable new-ish recliners and sufficient leg room. I love how you can keep reclining and people can still pass by. Every seat has drink holder. The theatre also has fun activities to do prior to the movies - some games (arcade type) and Photo Booth ($6 for 3 poses and 3 printed pictures). New at this location and movie posters! Oh, how I wanted this in college when I was adorning my walls with all the movie posters. Also, can't beat the location - Crocker Park and Promenade Plaza are nearby for fine dining and ultimate date night. CONCESSIONS: Concessions here seldom have lines at least when I stepped by. It cost me $21.58 to get large popcorn and large soda. The portions are so huge that I could have split it with multiple people. By the end of the movie I had popcorn for another 3 movies! PARKING: The parking is available at covered garages in Crocker Park. I usually park at Promenade and walk over to the movie. I find it much easier to navigate out to the highway. SCREENING: My latest visit was for Gofobo screening of "Regretting You." The screening organizers invited my book club (CLE Gals Bookclub) to the screening. We had such a fun night! There was free movie merch like apparel, posters, bags, and cups. All so cute and high quality! The screening line was very efficiently moving and it was the easiest screening process I've ever attended! The film was such a feel good romance. It officially hits the big screen on Friday, October 24. Go see it! I loved being part of this experience! I would highly recommend this movie theatre and any screenings held here! I'm already planning my next movie night here!

The Nightlight is one of my top three favorite places in Akron along with Akron Coffee Roasters…read moreright next door and Angel Falls down West Market. You can't go wrong spending a night at the Nightlight. You go to see a movie, something usually a bit more indie, a classic, or arthouse, and as soon as you step through the doors you're transported to a different world or a different time. (At least I am). And yet, it feels like a timeless place. Like this is a place that has always existed and will always exist. If I'm wandering through the post-apocalyptic wasteland and don't stumble upon the Nightlight I would be woefully surprised. It's mystical, know what I mean? They've just completed their ambitious second screen project. In the process, they've completely renovated their other spaces. You can now pick up a themed cocktail (or mocktail), a Norka or a Cheerwine at their extensive and sizable bar. There's plenty of seating at the counter if you'd care to take one and chat it up as if you're at a cocktail lounge. On the left side of the bar is a nice snack collection to choose from. Pick up all kinds of candy before you make your order for drinks and popcorn at the counter. They even have some vintage options that'll bring tears to your grandparents' eyes. The popcorn is everything you'd want from a movie theater, so don't miss out. They've also added a brand new movie library behind the bar. Here, you can take a plush chair by the fireplace and discuss whatever great movie you just got out of. It's the kind of place that makes you want to puff on pipe tobacco. Their bathrooms also got an overhaul! If you're a fan of The Shining, it'll feel like you stepped into the bathroom where Jack chats with Delbert Grady. I won't spoil the library. The second screen is a great addition. Now they can play more movies and host more showings. It's a beautiful theater as well. You'll have to see it and experience it for yourself. I'm obsessed with the red carpet. The whole place, not just the theaters, is dripping with style. They've captured and mastered an aesthetic. Not only do they create this space, they also partner with all kinds of other local venues for unique showings. Like Pulp Fiction at the Civic, The Shining at CVNP's lodge, and other classics at Lock 3 in the summer. You'll also get the chance to meet directors and producers who come to town with their films. As a writer, this is a special and encouraging experience for me. The executive director of the Nightlight, Jenn Kidd, is one of the kindest people you will meet. She makes everyone feel like a valued human being, not just a patron or customer. People are important to her, that's why she's helped create and foster this welcoming community space. And it does feel like that, a community. One that is safe and inclusive. All of the staff are lovely people. I don't tire of seeing them and hearing their thoughts about the movies. You'll meet all kinds of cool strangers as well. One of the best parts about the Nightlight is their membership program. They have varying levels, but honestly the gold tier is the way to go. For $20 a month, you can go to every showing. That's right, $20 a month gets you a ticket to every showing! On Mondays you can also bring a guest for free, along with several extra tickets to use at your discretion throughout the year. You also get free popcorn with every showing. It's a great deal, honestly, if you ask me it's a steal. Jenn, if you're reading this, make physical membership cards! It would be very very cool. I would pay extra for one, I'm so serious! I'm just imaging that bad boy in my wallet and it gives me a sweet feeling. Perhaps I'm just a mawkish sap. I moved back to Akron after living out of state for about 6 years. A lot of my old friends had moved away. Before I found a new group of great people, I didn't have all that much to do besides work, take care of my grandma (Mimi), and hangout around Angel Falls with my childhood bestie. How many times can you go to the Bomb Shelter without going a little crazy? And then the Nightlight showed me its face! I had somewhere to go, that changed a lot for me. Now I go to the Nightlight with so many different friends! I always take my out-of-towners as well. Full circle for me. I still love going alone too, that won't change. I also always meet great strangers there. Thanks for being that place for me for over a year now. It is truly a gem. Thanks for providing it! Check them out on social media and subscribe to their email list, you won't regret it. They're severely lacking in recent reviews, so give them a glowing one!

The tickets were about what movie theater tickets cost, ours included some concession credits. I got a large blue Powerade. In the theater, the seats were full of room for you to lounge. The seats we had the buttons to recline which could be a problem if you're prone to falling asleep. The screen is huge! The angle of view from the seats we had was perfect to me. The sound was loud and very clear with the sound coming from each direction. I have been to this movie theater numerous times over the years, and found that it hardly changed over the years. It remains timeless. AMBIANCE: The movie theatre is spacious offering a lot of pre-movie activities. There is a sit down cafe area to start nibbling on your popcorn. There is a small arcade with claw machines, and games for solo or groups. They also usually have a display for new movies where you can take fun keepsake pictures. I found that quite a few couples and friend groups checking out the amenities before the movies. The movie theater rooms are certainly outdated considering other cinemas in the area. The recliner chairs operate slowly and appear worn. My least favorite part is the lack of row labels. The row labels are on the floor/carpet. It makes it impossible to see during dim lighting before the movie and should you need to leave during the movie. It's just simply not practical. CONCESSIONS: Concessions go above and beyond with food and movie merch. For instance, Wicked performance featured toys, souvenirs, and even pink/green popcorn. The concessions are overpriced as they are everywhere. SERVICE: The service here is very subpar. Employees mumble to customers and it's really hard to decipher what they're saying. I had this experience during initial entry and at concessions. They are very apathetic or even borderline rude. You don't feel welcome here at all, the service is pretty bad. PARKING: There is a huge parking lot at this movie theatre, larger than other. The parking lot is well lit so you feel reasonably safe. In all honesty, I won't be sprinting back to this movie theatre. I was just purchasing tickets to the next exciting movie release, this movie theatre was the last on my list. I purchased tickets to another movie theatre. My main reasons are that the movie theatre is very outdated and service is terrible. I'd rather go to a more updated venue with friendly staff.
