But then to find out that this was duckpin bowling kind of changed the game, no pun intended. I have never been duckpin bowling but had it on my radar to try out. This is a massive facility. Not only do they have the duckpin bowling, but they have a whole room for billiards, two bars for libations, a dance studio upstairs, and I am sure that I am forgetting something. However, the two biggest draws here are the duckpin bowling and billiards. The duckpin bowling was amazing, man did my arm hurt the next day. If you do not know what duckpin bowling is, it is basically skee-ball for adults. It's not your traditional bowling in ways that you can't knock down all the pins as easily as you can with a bigger ball and bigger pins. Once you get the just of it you get into a groove and it makes for a fun night. We were on a bowl as much as you want type of thing. We split ourselves up into teams and went on our merry way. Fun did ensue as people got into the night, balls were flying down the lane, and sometimes over into other lanes. One thing that I wasn't the biggest fan of was the food we were served. We had popcorn, soft pretzels, and pizza. It wasn't your top shelf items, but it should be what to expect from a bowling alley. Just wish they would have cut the pizza properly as some pieces weren't cut. I would have love some more of the popcorn as well, that was fire.

When you descend to this basement bowling alley, you will find The staff is super friendly, the lanes are well maintained, and the establishment is clean. Don't let the royal blue and purple decor burn your eyes - instead, enjoy the sound of wooden duckpins clashing against each other as you defeat your friends and family. Prices are extremely affordable - $10 per person per hour, and between my girlfriend and I, we managed three games each, including a 145 to cap the session, which I'm told is a pretty high score for duckpins - sign me up for this any day. Sixteen lanes are at your disposal here, so i highly recommend a visit. I've bowled duckpins in Connecticut and its a really nice change of pace from regulation bowling. We started throwing in leagues here at end of 2022 and have been enjoying it since. There's bowling football (kinda), darts, and occasionally corn hole. In the summer, there's food trucks and a restaurant has opened at the end of the parking lot. The drink variety is pretty great with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with snacks. You get coaching when you go in for a group to help you learn how to throw and get to play a variety of games. If you have enough time, you can try throwing the big axe. What I like most about Urban is that the employees are super welcoming and the axe community is too if you decide to join a league. You can learn to tweak your throw from a variety of different people and hone in on your technique. You don't feel bad when you're first not great at throwing since so many people want to help. There are various groups that host fundraising events and charities that collaborate like BARCS and Baltimore Humane Society. Give Urban a try!
