Prices may seem a bit expensive at first (~$22-24 for a mug), but this price includes all associated costs as well (paint, firing, other supplies) and the amount of time it takes you to sit there and finish it. Overall, very reasonable. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very inviting. My partner asked for help and location of a product and was replied with, "what, do you want me to do your shopping for you too." I ordered from both Home Depot and Canadian tire during the pandemic. Home Depot 1 week and apologized for the wait but that they were doing their best, Canadian tire a month, then just cancelled the order on us and told us to come buy it in person. The negative experiences with this store go on and on. They clearly don't want my money. And I'm happy to spend it elsewhere.

I love…read morethe parks program and I love the people who lovingly maintain these places and I love the balance of protecting our fragile and magical ecosystems while letting us humans find an entry point and a way in to fall in love with all that Nature has to offer. That said, if you're going to write up your experience you've gotta be honest so I might as well mention the few things that made this particular park only slightly less stellar than some others. For one, when we arrived to check in, the person who was working seemed pretty confused about how to use their booking system, and not very familiar with the different sites. They were just new I think so no harm done, but it is so amazing when you can chat with the ranger and let them know your particular circumstances and have them suggest a couple spots that might work for your needs. Maybe in this case were weren't that clear about what we were looking for because we had a pretty unhappy baby in the car so that's on us. But when the staff person needed to reimburse us some money as a result of a change and didn't know how to do that, that was on them. And then when they sent us to a fairly crowded and insanely buggy campground after sending us away from the breezy one on the shores of Lake Superieur because they thought the water in the Lake on the otherside would be warmer, well that's just bad luck. Next time we'll definitely stay on the Lake Superieur side! There's not as much shade but the views seemed spectacular and it's so much cooler and there are no bugs with all that great lake wind. We'll bring a shade tent and be sitting pretty!! This looks like an incredible site to do some kayaking or canoeing from, I hope to make it back someday soon!!

When you hit the Finnish Bookstore, the selection is huge and most to all of it is stuff that you'd actually want to give someone. The place does hold true to its title. It is rooted in Finnish ancestry, as is a large portion of Thunder Bay. It also has Finnish books, those being both in Finnish and about Finland. Not knowing a word of Finnish, save "Mikä ajaa te alhainen 'paikalla ei enemmän kalja'?" I tended to stay away from that section. There are different sections of the stores for different needs, almost like a very scaled-down department store, but focussing on home-wears and gifts. You may want to peruse the kitchen-ware section as well. There is a main kitchen area that I'm pretty sure is used to run courses or demonstrations on cooking, most likely Finnish. So if you're lucky, some day you'll be able to come in, grab some new kitchen duds and feast in some Lihapullat.

Reception staff excellent. No executive lounge but was given breakfast vouchers good for their continental breakfast. The voucher could be used toward main menu items worth $13 CAD. Great food at the restaurant with attentive servers. The Sunday brunch is extensive and we were allowed to use the voucher toward it. However we were misinformed as voucher is only good for continental breakfast, not brunch. The manager made an exception due to misinformation. Kudos to the manager. Room very clean. However, housekeeping did not do a thorough job first night (trash not emptied, short on towels). Also had to call maintenance to fix TV and repair shower handle. Maintenance was very prompt and effective. The hotel just needs a little oversight on small issues like this. Hotel is located in the harbor district and footbridge gives access to downtown. Not sure I would venture there after dark. The Bright restaurant next to hotel is outstanding. Go there. Would stay there again. Keep traveling.

The towels are new but rough and I mean sun dried rough no fabric softener here folks. And the train rolls right beside the building every hour if that's your thing (reminds me of life at my grandparents house in Coniston, Ontario, at least the bed doesn't shake though.) The YA's It does have a signature bar and restaurant that had live jazz entertainment but it's definitely not worth the price Of $300 a night standard 2 queens. Everything has a charge, they'll nickel and dime you to death here. $10 starting for breakfast might get you a muffin... $25 parking but it's heated underground so I bought that for convenience instead of having to lug the luggage carrier through snow then up stairs into the front foyer ( which really they should have bellboys for that but don't) Honestly I don't know how these big chain hotels think they can drop amenities, gut guest services and charge you on top of the hefty price of a nights stay for less. I'm surprised they don't make you wash the linens when you're done. Being a member means nothing, no perks, no late checkout, unless you're a farmer and think noon is late. LESS FOR MORE pretty much sums it up. Perks? I mean if you're conference is being held here staying here means you don't have to walk across the tracks might be the only perk aside from the view but ya you've gotta pay extra for that too! lol I could go on but it's already 11pm and I've got an early late checkout so.... Book a room at the Holiday Inn Express and be treated like a king for less!
